Yes i hope so too because muawiya used to curse imam ali a.s (who is the best or one of the best sahaba) on jummah prayers. He taunted umar a.s in a public occasion as well. Ask me for authentic sunni references if you dare.

For arguments sake let's say that what u r saying is true. But Muawiyah was one of the prophets companions. He prayed and went to war alongside the prophet PBUH and the other sahaba. Allah may forgive for whatever transgression he has done, but do u think Allah will forgive u for cursing one of the people whom the prophet PBUH himself loves? Do u expect forgiveness while u actively curse a good man who has done u no harm? Whatever he may have done or not done is with Allah to judge

Second, you ask if I think Allah will forgive me for cursing someone that the prophet loved (even though I never cursed him), but by this logic, how would you expect Allah to forgive Mu'awiya for cursing Ali, who was without a doubt far more loved by the prophet (peace be upon him) than the majority of people, considering he was his son in law and cousin (not to mention numerous Hadith where the prophet spoke very highly of him and said he is to him like Harun was to Musa). Also, what battles are you referring to that Mu'awiya fought alongside the prophet? Remember, Mu'awiya was not of the muhajirun and ansar. He's not on the level of other sahaba like Abu Bakr, Umar, etc. as he actually fought against the Muslims before the conquest of Mecca.

As Sunni's we take it too simple about all the death and destruction Muawiyya did by fighting a sitting Caliph ali r.a. and his son Yazeed for attacking and slaughtering the prophets (pbuh) grandchildren, they deserve no respect from me.

Stop your taqiyya. Muawiya was praised by prophet(saw) many companions of prophet (ra). He just did a wrong ijtihad according to sunni scholars. And the war not only happened because of him, its caused by munafiqeen that stir war between Ali and muawiya/aisha. It was a difficult time for muslims

If Mu'Awiya were even 0.1% a well wisher of Rasulullah and ahlebait then Yazeen wouldn't have killed Rasulullah's beloved grandson Imam Hussain and his family. He should have taught his son some ethics, even if you think you disagree on something, there is certain rules to be followed in a war. What Yazeed did was the portrayal of what Mu'Awiya was as a person.
Allah knows best what level of culpability Muawiya shares in the matter. The people of Kufa who enticed Imam Hussain R.A and then betrayed him are arguably more directly culpable than Muawiya, and even to them we should wish for Allahs mercy, right?
@@Ohmz27 The people who knows in their hearts that's what's right and what's wrong would eventually repent to Allah. The one who doesn't know the difference or knowingly supports the wrong ideology and dies without repentance to Allah, shall/will be sent to Jahannum. You can pray for their mercy, but tbh it doesn't work that way. If I intentionally or unintentionally do a sin and die without repentance, no one can prevent me from landing in Jahannum, even if my loved one prays day and night for my mercy.

Muaviyeh elected his son as the next ruler when the condition was explicit that he was not allowed to choose the next leader, a condition set by imam Hassan after handing him the caliphate after being left no choice. Muaviyeh single handedly was the reason for shias today mourning every year. If he played his part and his role properly most of the ummah would have been Shia today 💯

Namely mentioned those who have been tagged by Allaah .. and all of them are badr sahabi. "Uthman R is not an exception cuz he also by niyyat is a badr sahabi"...

When you go to one extreme, praising someone who is known to be evil and enemy, it is absolutely normal that the opposite side will go to another extreme and curse him... Sunni and shia have no balance, they just go to extremes. Muawiyah, if anyone looks at authentic sunni sources is not praiseworthy, he disobeyed Prophet and was wealth thirsty, having gold and silk in his palace, his son fought against family of Prophet and he broke the treaty that he made with Hasan and introduced new unislamic way of family inheriting the ruling chair that is still present in Saudi Arabia, ruled by Saudi family. Don't say he is unbeliever, don't say he is special. You would never honor an enemy of your father or your family, but you will honor someone who fought against Prophets family. Allahumma salli ala muhammad ve ala ali muhammad. Ameen.
You've got it wrong, most Sunni don't say R.A. on Muawiya because he is personally deserving of honorifics in deed and character, we say it because WE ourselves wish for good to be recorded against us. The records of Muawiya are closed and Allah will judge accordingly. None of his reprehensible behaviours removed him from the fold of Islam so we should watch our mouths. His controversies should stay in the past, there is no benefit in pulling them into our times, unless we wish to learn his misdeeds and not emulate them - for example cursing fellow Muslims.

I heard him saying: Once the Prophet (ﷺ) sent me and Az-Zubair saying, 'Proceed to such-and-such Ar-Roudah (place) where you will find a lady whom Hatib has given a letter. So when we arrived at Ar-Roudah, we requested the lady to hand over the letter to us. She said, 'Hatib has not given me any letter.' We said to her. 'Take out the letter or else we will strip off your clothes.' So she took it out of her braid. So the Prophet (ﷺ) sent for Hatib, (who came) and said, 'Don't hurry in judging me, for, by Allah, I have not become a disbeliever, and my love to Islam is increasing. (The reason for writing this letter was) that there is none of your companions but has relatives in Mecca who look after their families and property, while I have nobody there, so I wanted to do them some favor (so that they might look after my family and property).' The Prophet (ﷺ) believed him. `Umar said, 'Allow me to chop off his (i.e. Hatib's) neck as he has done hypocrisy.' The Prophet (ﷺ) said, (to `Umar), 'Who knows, perhaps Allah has looked at the warriors of Badr and said (to them), 'Do whatever you like, for I have forgiven you.' " `Abdur-Rahman added, "So this is what encouraged him (i.e. `Ali).

Qais b. 'Ubad reported:
We said to 'Ammar: Was your fighting (on the side of 'Ali in the Battle of Siffin) a matter of your own choice or you got its hints from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) for it, is likely for one to err in one's own discretion or was it because of any Promise that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) got from you? He said: It was not because of any Promise that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) got from us which he did get from other people.

The Governor of Medina who was one of the members of the house of Marwan called Sahl Ibn Sa’d, and ordered him to curse ‘Ali. But Sahl refused to do so. The governor said: "If you don’t want to curse ‘Ali, just say God curse Abu Turab (the nickname of ‘Ali).”Sahl said: "‘Ali did not like any name for himself better than Abu Turab, and ‘Ali used to become very happy when somebody would call him Abu Turab.”

I am Sunni and the Sunni books of Ahadith who are common in all denominations of Sunni such as Sahih Muslim, Sahih Bukhari, Sunan ibne Dawood, Ibn e Maja, Tarmizi all mention the wrongs done Hazrat Muawiya..

To those asking why we have a negative view of MUAWIYAH, below is only a glimpse. The purpose is not to start a debate, rather convey our stance in light of Sahih Hadith:
1. Sahih Muslim (2604a) - Disrespected Prophet (saww) - Ignored calls from Prophet (saww) only to finish his food
2. Sahih Bukhari (2812) - War with Ali (as) - Battle of Siffin and killing thousands of Companions

@isafcb312 When did Muawiya fought in the Battle of Badr? The army of kuffar was led by his father, he wasn't even a Muslim. Abu Sufyan and Muawiya became Muslim after Rasulullah S.A.W.W captured Mecca 😂😂😂. They only accepted islam because they feared they will lose their lives. They were never loyal to Rasulullah S.A.W.W and in Sahih Muslim hadith number 6970 that Umm e Salmah narrated that:
“Allah’s Apostle (peace be upon him) said: A band of rebels would kill Ammar”.
As Muwaiya was the leader of the group which killed Hazrat Ammar (r.a.) it is clear as daylight that he is the leader of the rebels as predicted by the Holy Prophet (pbuh).
Muawiyah not only fought Imam ‘Ali, he cursed Imam ‘Ali as well. Furthermore, he did force/make everybody to curse ‘Ali (as). To prove it, we begin with

Narrated Sa’d Ibn Abi Waqqas: Muawiyah, the son of Abu Sufyan, give order to Sa’d, and told him: "What prevents you that you are refraining from cursing Abu Turab (nickname of ‘Ali)?”Sa’d replied: "Don’t you remember that the Prophet said three things about (the virtue of) ‘Ali? So I will never curse ‘Ali."

There aren't any narrations that either say to use (R.A) for the companions. It is infact our own system to show our respect for their sacrifices for Islam.
Imam Bukhari even narrated several ahadeeth where he used (A.S) for Imam Ali(A.S) rather than (R.A) which infact is a cause of contention between the Sunni and the Shi'a.
The Shi'a use (A.S) for Imam Ali (A.S) wereas, the Sunnis refrain from that despite the fact that Imam Bukhari used (A.S) for him as well .
Moreover, I agree with brother that what we are supposed to do is not to curse Muawiya but still refrain from using (R.A) for him because his actions weren't good. In addtion, there's no denying that the status of the Ahlul-Bayt is very high and Imam Ali (A.S) was always on the ''Haq'' as mentioned in the books of hadeeth.

And I heard him say: "I will give the banner today to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger."
In her letter, Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet (S) wrote to Muawiyah: "...You are cursing Allah and His messenger on your minbar, and that is because you are cursing ‘Ali Ibn Abi Talib and whomever loves him, and I am a witness that Allah and His messengerloved him.”But no one paid any attention to what she said.

then ˹know that˺ Allah Himself is his Guardian, and so is Gabriel, and the righteous believers, and the angels are ˹all˺ his succours.
Allah describes A’isha to have deviated in heart, meaning that she has lost her Imaan and swerved from the right path, hence why we disassociate from her.
Also remember, the she is the woman who is responsible for killing over 30 thousand Muslims in the battle of the Camel, when she waged war against the successor of the Prophet Imam Ali peace be upon him.

Narrated `Ikrima: that Ibn `Abbas told him and `Ali bin `Abdullah to go to Abu Sa`id and listen to some of his narrations; So they both went (and saw) Abu Sa`id and his brother irrigating a garden belonging to them. When he saw them, he came up to them and sat down with his legs drawn up and wrapped in his garment and said, (During the construction of the mosque of the Prophet) we carried the adobe of the mosque, one brick at a time while `Ammar used to carry two at a time. The Prophet passed by `Ammar and removed the dust off his head and said, May Allah be merciful to `Ammar. He will be killed by a rebellious aggressive group. `Ammar will invite them to (obey) Allah and they will invite him to the (Hell) fire.

It is the well-known fact in the history that Muawiyah fought Imam ‘Ali (as). And based on the above tradition of the Prophet(S) the Prophet has declared war on Muawiyah. How can we still love a person whom the Prophet has declared war on him?
The Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever hurts ‘Ali, has hurt me"
