- Welcome to Episode 8 of Mecha Facts. In this episode, I will be discussing the specifications, history, and lore of the Mass Production Heavy Variable Fighter the VF-171 Nightmare Plus and it's variant the RVF-171 Nightmare Plus from the Macross series. The Nightmare Plus first appeared in the 2008 anime Macross Frontier, then in the movies 2009's Macross Frontier: The False Songstress (Macross Frontier: Itsuwari no Utahime) and 2011's Macross Frontier: The Wings of Goodbye (Macross Frontier: Sayonara no Tsubasa), and has recently appeared in the 2016 anime Macross Delta. It's amazing you are literally the only channel that covers Macross lore.
God, why does this thing look and feel cooler to me than anything else in the franchise.
ya i got annoyed by its lack of plot armor.
It is based of the 117 nighthawk
It's been a while watching this but I am back to ask once again.
*MORE MACROSS PLEASE*
There is so many amazing VF's and best mech and Sci Fi aircraft designes from Macross.
To be honest this is my most favorite VF next to Metal Siren. I really hope that in the future Macross series this will be given a special series.
I prefer the YF-19's robot mode, but god damn the VF-171's fighter mode is just ''chefs kiss''
Awesome piece on the workhorse of the NUNS fleet. Please come out with the EX version soon.
What ever happened to macross. I know they wrote theme selves into a corner due to the end of delta, but they have ways around that. They did it before with Macross 2.
Last I recall, Macross Delta was being condensed into 2 feature films similar to Macross Frontier movies. However, that was the last I heard of it then my news on Macross have been pretty minimal...
@@AModelerInCollege Thank you. I have a lore question now that I have your attention. Why dose the villain when they attempt to control a population with the song "Do You Remember Love" which dose little more than give you euphoria if it isn't amplified. While Sharon Apple created multiple songs specifically designed to do such a thing such as "Information High".
I’m not entirely sure... it was possibly explained in movie/show or a separate mechanical novel on why this was the case. I haven’t dived into Macross lore since creating this episode, so sorry I wasn’t able to answer your question
@@AModelerInCollege Ok, thank you.
MAcrosss!!!!
More Macross please
Lucifer is my favourite Variable Fighter.
More macross please
The F-117 Nighthawk was not a fighter, even though it has a designation of “F”. The USA wanted to confuse their adversaries by making them think it was an advanced fighter and not a strategic bomber, which gave them them an edge of surprise bombing runs deep into enemy territory.
Not too big on Macross but this thing is awesome
Well this is what you will see a lot in the world of Macross. The original vf-1 or vf-0 was the glorified F-14 Tomcat.
Reaction weapons will ruin anybodies day...
