Thank you for sharing your video. I did mine over the weekend and can confirm that you do not need to lower the engine to remove the alternator. The lower bolt on the alternator does not need to be remove it all the way. What I did is moved the AC radiator further to the front and move the AC hose forward a bit so it is much easier to remove and reinstall the alternator.
Thanks so much. You should label this Kia Sportage also. This is the ONLY video for a 2.4L in an SUV that has the alternator on top of engine. Previous models has alternator on bottom of engine. TOTALLY different.

I also did buy a New serpentine belt which I then treated with 303 Aerospace Protectant to give extra wear protection & longevity to the belt. I may have to post back when finished. @@nestorautorepair prior to mounting my new set of tires, I completely sprayed the interior & exterior of the tires prior to mounting on the rims. Cheapest price for 1 gallon is around $40 on Ebay or Amazon....can't remember which. Best sprayer to use can be found at Sally Beauty supply which sprays an ultra-fine mist. The sprayer is about $8 to $10 dollars but well worth it!!!😎👍🏻
The bottom bolt does not have to come all the way out just loosen cause if you look the bracket in the vehicle is u shaped and the bolt once loosened slips out the top opening of that u just jack up and remove top bolt rock alternator comes right out bottom bolt in tact good job tho brother.
Boos thanks for your feedback and tip ,, but maybe in your car but not this one ,, as you can see the holes on both altenator are closed there is no (U) shape,, thanks
@nestor auto repair, he is correct you do not have to remove the lower bolt completely, just have to loosen it to allow it to slide upwards. As seen in your video at 3:05 and 4:11 you can see the slot in the lower bracket that’s fixed to engine, however I do agree that engine mount bracket makes it a lot easier to allow removing the alternator and fitting it back. So both of you are correct but removal of the lower bolt is not necessary as you can clearly see the slot in the video.
Easy boss , I if you really watch the video you will see that the car is on the air I'm using two jacks , the one to hold the engine is not really doing anything + if you look it has the under plastic touching the oil pan not metal to metal , no one is perfect. I made this video to help people out , I'm sure there are more video out there Timothy

Look at the video at 145 and put a 17mm on that pulley and there you will be able to take it off and install it back
