I must say guys your videos are making me want to try jackfruit again. I have tried it a few times it was ok but not in the same league as durian, thinking I should give it a go again. Any recommendation on best varieties? I hear j33 is very good as well as one coming from fruit forest farm called Malibu however these are not available locally.

If you have the space why not, I believe someone in Cairns sells j33, maybe ask on Oz rare fruit fb site.

Hi! I would like to ask if how do you clean jackfuit after harvest and where do you store it before packing? For educational purposes only. Thank you so much in advance!

We clean our fruit in water with 10 percent bleach (this is permitted organic treatment) and then it goes into a cold room set at 11 degrees. This will slow down the ripening of the fruit so that it isn't over ripening when it gets to market.

Do you hand pollinate the jackfruit flower to produce fruit?

I bought a jackfruit that is 27 pounds but it is still spiky and it does not smell very much. Will it ripen up or will I have to eat it green

I was wondering if it would be more profitable for u to open the fruit and take out the edible parts and place them in small size plastic containers and sell them ready to eat at a farmers market or develop your own list of private or commercial customers.
This way u get a better price and get to keep the flesh for mulching or composting purposes.

It is something we have looked into, especially for packaging green jackfruit, but the cost set up, a building, equipment, and all stainless steel benches would be a significant outlay.

@@meadowcroftfarmqld8577 Hi guys have 10 ten tree on our acreage land in the Western suburbs of Brisbane. Hoping the problem is just with my male flowers, not sure whether female fruiting flowers can develop mold as well?

@@andrewhill1391 if it's the male flowers that are turning brown and going mouldy that is normal, female flowers usually begin to develop a few weeks after the males.
