- A Romelu Lukaku brace and Kevin de Bruyne’s late strike consigned Scotland to defeat in Brussels this evening, as Belgium recorded a 3-0 win to maintain their position at the top of Group I.
The world’s best side proved too strong for Steve Clarke’s men over the course of the 90 minutes, despite a resilient defensive effort from the visitors.
Seeing the Hazard brothers playing together is the stuff of dreams and shout out to De Bruyne too.

Unfortunate that Robertson wasn’t in this game. His leadership and talent would’ve caused Belgium so much more problems down the left side. Fraser is also a good player. Scotland could’ve made this game difficult for Belgium if they had scored that chance. Why didn’t he just smash it in the net? 🤷🏼♂️
As a Belgium guy i have much respect for the Scottish team. They just need to find confidence. When Belgium took it easier after the 2-0 you really saw that the Scotland team really could play some good football. Hopefully the coach just go from there own power next time instead of going for the defence and try to avoid a beating. You have the speed,you have the midfield now just the believe. And then you have a great future ahead.

Complete in all departments? If that were true they would have won the world cup. Very weak in strikers (imagine if they had an Aguero or Kane) and the GK is good, but not the very top level. It's a shame that this generation just didn't have a Scifo or Nilis.

Hand Solo Lukaku is better than Kane lol, especially with international games. Lukaku is a great striker, United just ruins every good player possible. Belgium is definitely a complete team, France were just the luckier team during the tournament.

@@abhouston1 Yep, 1-0 defeat against cocky France. That game could have gone both ways. Lloris made some incredible saves that night. Too bad, if we would have beaten the baguettes we surely would have won the World Cup. (With respect for Croatia, but we would have had one day extra rest, Croatia had 2 or 3 extra times, etc...)

Belgium were toying with Scotland in the 2nd. half. The Scottish goalkeeper did good work, but he has to work on his footwork. I saw him kick at least 5 balls out of play.

I'm much more confident now with Steve Clarke in charge, the shape of the team looks much better, whereas with McLeish they looked like headless chickens. The Belgians are ridiculous to be fair and if we had var in this game it would've been 1 nil till the last minutes of it.
1st goal was the first mistake our defenders made the whole game. Everyone thought it was going out for a corner and switched off. Belgium easily scored. 2nd goal was offside the linesman didn’t do his job properly absolute disgrace. Killed the game off as a contest. 3rd goal was just class. we didn’t do that bad against the best team in the world. Could’ve scored aswel so it should’ve been a 2-1 defeat
