  • An important video for all who are sending their near and dear to a US Campus for education. Almost all campuses have Religious Chaplains for every religion, but shockingly, there are none for Hinduism! Gaurav Rastogi of Hindu Spiritual Care Institute explains why he started this initiative and how it has now grown to start graduating Hindu Spiritual Advisors for Hindu Students in US Campuses. Parents should demand that Hindu Chaplains (Spiritual Advisors) should be present in Campuses to guide the students in times of difficulty.

    Great to listen to Rastogi ji. It is heartening to know Hindu Chaplains are finally being valued across the diaspora. In Australia, thankfully Hindu Council & VHP has been actively promoting a course for interested people for few years now.

    A brilliant initiative to establish Dharmic values on US college campuses. Is there any hope of this reaching India?

    • @stalinsampras
      @stalinsampras 18 днів тому

      What if Islam wants to Establish his Islamic Values on US College Campuses (already people are some what sympathetic due to the ongoing events), and what about them reaching India also?
      Its a Big No right, Such should be the case with this.

    • @amazingcalvin
      @amazingcalvin 18 днів тому +2

      @@stalinsampras The big no for Islamic Values is only because such values are inherently directed towards interfering with others situations even if they express disinterest in it. Dharmic values are only taught to those who approach such a spiritual teacher on how to view and lead life from a better perspective. It doesn't teach the person to interfere in the lives of others. If Islamic values were purely personal to follow without interfering in the rights of others, then that would be allowed as well. And in any case, Dharmic values exist only within India these days so no need for this to come from US campus.

    The Vedic/Sanatan dharma - the realization of the truth of immortal and united existence of all, through searching inwards because what is within is only perceived and projected outwards. This satisfies man’s essential quest to know who, how, why, etc. about one’s own self as well as the existence of all the rest. Resultantly as our planetary system progress into Dwapar kaal on the ascending arc of the Chaturyug-chakra all present ritualistic or cult like properties of various so called religions end into oneness, abolishing various sinister practices of dogma, inter and intra religious violence, conversion into one’s creed by coercion, blasphemy for which punishment being death, and such absurdities. The realization occurs of the essential unity that the Creation and the Creator are inseparable - God/Parambrahma or whatever we name is one omnipotent omnipresent energy has become all.

    Meditation on God (whatever name assigned) through own existence is the fastest, surest, most non-violent, and inexpensive way to apprehend the truth about self and all else. Learning and practicing Kriyayoga meditation under the guidance of the God-realized guru would abate all problems and resolve all queries or mysteries in life. Best of all its practice clearly defines the true goal of the human life besides solving all problems of one’s past, present and even the future, all kinds of fears, illnesses, poverty (lack of resources), poor self-esteem (confidence), etc. without ever spending any worldly assets. However, infinite patience and persistence are essential besides unwavering devotion in its practice.

    Misinterpretation of Dharma by the West.
    Comparison
    Biblical or Quranic traditions are centered around the concept of religion, It is about belief in a God and his messenger and the book as an abstract manifestation that entails distinct sets of beliefs or doctrines for the believers and their relation with non believers which is mostly based on hatred and rejection. Dharma is eternal while the religion is started by a prophet or messenger. Religion claims itself to be the reality and does not permit questioning. Biblical and Quranic religions is exclusive as it excludes others and emphasis on a single God, a Prophet or savior and a holy book which alone is the way of liberation.
    Religion applies only to human beings and not to the entire cosmos; there is no religion of electrons, monkeys, plants and galaxies, whereas all of them have their dharma their function even if they carry it out without intention.
    Dharma vs Religion/Majhab
    Indic spiritual traditions are centered around the concept of Dharma. How Dharma is different form religion? Dharma is the Duty it is the Function as per one's virtue, qualification, personal, professional and social obligations in a sustainable manner. It emphasizes on the the performance of Karma in accordance to Dharma and Rta" (Rta" It is the Cosmic Order or the fundamental principles of the operation of universe) All actions that are harmonious and in accordance to Rta" the cosmic and social order is Dharma what is not is Adharma. Dharma is universal and applicable to everyone and everything around us and as per the nature of person object time and space its methodology can vary. According to Gita Svadharma is better though difficult to practice it comprises of prescribed duties of an individual for material and spiritual fulfilment. Dharma is concerned with the basic principles of cosmic and individual existence in conformity to one's duty and nature. While karma is an action that can be either good or bad, dharma is a moral direction for karma to bear positive and auspicious fruits for oneself and those who are affected by it. Dharma has the Sanskrit root dhri, which means "that which upholds" or "that without which nothing can stand" or "that which maintains the stability and harmony of the universe." Dharma encompasses the natural, innate behavior of things, duty, law, ethics, virtue, etc. Every entity in the cosmos has its particular dharma ― from the electron, which has the dharma to move in a certain manner, to the clouds, galaxies, plants, insects, and of course, man. Man's understanding of the dharma of inanimate things is what we now call physics. Dharma provides the principles for the harmonious fulfillment of all aspects of life, including material and non material including enlightenment and liberation (moksha). Religion, then, is only one subset of dharma's scope.
    What is the religion of Dharmic people or people of Indic civilization? Why do we need to call it religion??
    Sanatan Dharma is our way of life and it is also our religion.
    World order is based on internationally recognised set of laws and rights. The constitution and UN charter grants special rights and privileges to the organized religions of the world. Although Religion is confined within the scope of Dharma hence it is a subset of Dharma however the world lacks the understanding about the principle of Dharma hence it becomes important to present certain principles of Dharma unlike the religion of the west.
    Our relegion is an offshoot of our Dharma and ou Indic way of life. Dharma acknowledges and prescribes several paths or methodology for the attainment of the highest purpose of our existence. There are many sects, pantha or marga of Dharmic people and since Dharma is an inclusive philosophy that is continuous in nature so the right term for Dharmic philosophy and tradition is Sanatan Dharma. It prescribes many distinct paths of spiritual enhancement, enlightenment and liberation.
    Of the many religious traditons prescribed and practiced by the people of Indic Dharmic civilization there are many Paths or Margas that can be listed as follows Bodh Marg or path of Buddha, Jain Marg or path of Mahavira, Gyana marga or the path of knowledge, Karma Yoga or path of action, Dhyaan Yoga or path of meditation, Bhakti Yoga or path of devotion. spirituality practiced in its many theistic and monistic forms such as Shaivism, Vaishnavism and Shaktism. Sikhism etc. that revolved around Bhakti Marga, Gyana Marga and Karma Marga. (In true sense Indian polytheism is monism as it recognises that all manifestations all virtues are the expression of one supereme singular reality which can manifest itself in infinite possibilities)

    Hindus must be careful about proselytizing. In any form ... We practice our tradition in our homes and at satsangh.... These big ornate temples across USA seems to be tantamount to what the "peaceful religion" want to impose on the world....keep our temples in Bharat..... The more others see these temples they see a take over and changing the country. Strengthen your own family with our principles and you will be fine. Bringing our tradition to anyone is proselytizing.... Let people arrive at our tradition thru their own volition

      Spreading the word of one’s religion without any intent of converting others isn’t wrong. Temples outside of India are for the diaspora, for they too deserve to get to visit their place of worship; If anyone else visits, that is their discretion. Keeping Hinduism as a closed practise is what has led to a massive rise in Hinduphobia because of the misinformation surrounding it. If non-Indians learnt of Hinduism through Hindus and not through Hinduphobic bigoted sources, they’d understand our religion better. Proselytising is an Abrahamic school of thought so I’m sure no non-Abrahamic will follow it.
