You can tell it's him instantly, although if you wanted to have a similar sound you gotta play them soap bar p90 pickups, I think even pearly gates had a similar pickup
He plays with old meskin pesos filed down like guitar picks, that's one indication of his own peculiar tone. It show is fine, ain't it! Hand me one of them brews from back ere, say keep yer hands on the wheel there.
They are still tight! They don’t move around as much, but there playing is still top notch saw them in 2018, twice in 2017. I have seen them live since 80
This is absolutely the best concert from my bearded friends i've ever seen!!!! And I was in Arhem 1986 for the first time and seen them 4 times afterwards.
Eliminator may have skyrocketed ZZ Top to fame but they lost their edge and can never be that badass power trio they were in the 70s no matter how hard they try.
@Mike Yep,what you said! Eliminator was a huge jump forward in production style, plus they were perfectly primed for MTV-era. Hit that tour in Odessa and Lubbock. The drum kit was surrounded by a big drum rack/cage that looked like a big face and the kit itself was covered by this big white cover and it sooo looked like a big pile of "cocaine"....or did it?! Ha,we stopped wondering what up,too weird--right before they first hit the stage,it made a big snorting sound through the PA system and the big white pile was actually two big white drum covers that quickly disappeared up each nostril of the "face". Snorted! Odd thang, but a true sign of the times. We caught the Recycler tour,too-- in Dallas TX;it was a good time for sure. I mostly recall the stripper chicks on stage, dancing behind big transparent screens. Their show in Abilene with Muddy Waters opening was by far their best concert, end of that Worldwide Texas Tour in 76-77. It was like going to blues church.
AH-HUH! That's where S.R.V.'S Hamilton neck spelling came from! AH-HUH! Well what better musician to come after than the "One and Only" Reverend Willy G.!

Billy Gibbons tone is just incredible. Nobody has ever replicated it.

Yepp, he is a genius on guitar. is the low neck tune in dropped D ?
Thats a fact

@@TompaDeetop neck open C, bottom neck standard
I think this is one of their best songs. More of an R&B/Soul track. Great drum part
It was 4 o'clock in the morning when they entered the stage. And it became a legendary moment in rock music.
One of the all-time great ZZ TOP tracks, very underrated
The biggest sounding power trio ever.
The way Billy counts it off and they dive straight in..... Thats why I love rock n roll.
Its a saf day. Dusty you inspired a lot of people and one of them was me. RIP Dusty you are already missed.
...
RIP Dusty... That thunderous tone...
This. Is. Awesome. At the peak of their powers. Super-tight and groovy band.
They are still tight! They don’t move around as much, but there playing is still top notch saw them in 2018, twice in 2017. I have seen them live since 80
This is simply fkn badass.
ZZ Top is a lifestyle choice 😎
Have Mercy!
Love this song but this live version sounds better than the album version
Frank beard is so cool he just sits there all still not even moving but drums his ass off at the same time
Totally agree.
It's just ironic he's got the least beard lol
@@pinoywheelgunner the real irony is that his name is Beard and is the only one in the band without one!
That Voice! R.I.P. Dusty.
Love that drumming.
maplespak underrated AF, Frank is heavy in the pocket
Super good!
This is absolutely the best concert from my bearded friends i've ever seen!!!!

Love Dusty's bass tone,is sounds rugged, 1:40 2:10
So fkn good.
Meu Deus do céu...
All their shows rocked like this until backing tracks and Eliminator tour. When Frank started wearing headphones
Eliminator may have skyrocketed ZZ Top to fame but they lost their edge and can never be that badass power trio they were in the 70s no matter how hard they try.
Do they use backing tracks?

In fact, Billy gave the Hamilton Strat to SRV as a Present
Some of the best blues acts of all time!

First time in europe ? Find that hard to believe they were together since late sixty 's
I think they used all three chords on this one.
It aint about how much you use but the feeling of how you use it hoss.
Phrasing does wonders yall!
Personally, their music, they can do whatever they want , you make your music your way , simple and basic .. if you know how to make music ..
Found the weirdo pussy
I think Billy’s comments about not knowing more chords are definitely tongue-in-cheek…dude’s got some chops.
良いです^_−☆
Is the top open tuned and the bottom standard?
I think so. The upper neck is open tuned for sure and the lower is standard just for the solo. Nice guitar indeed
Apparently, the top neck is open C and the bottom neck is standard.
Being from Texas these guys shoulda named the song "Hoe Down in the Streets"
♥♫♫♫
There is no Excuse for Starving Mom and Me out.
T-Birds, Jimmy, Kim & Keith.
And little GB
Anyone know what tuning Billy is using on the top neck?
Open C tuning
I haven't the foggiest clue- but to my ears it sounds like an open g tune
😲
F-U-C-K this is cool! :-D :-D :-D
Still touring no dust but its always there somewhere
Did they release an album for this concert???
It was eventually released as one of the DVDs on 'Double Down Live'
Check out the Preliminator (Live) album....
