  • Picked up a pre assembled Tamiya reefer trailer to add to my growing 1/14 collection. Gonna work at it in bits over the next couple months and hopefully give it some nice details. Hope you enjoy the video. 👍

    I would place an aluminium toolbox under it and get rid of the plastic one. Motorized legs , different bumper with wireless lightning , aluminium fenders and add lights to all the orange lenses.
    Paint the holders for the spare tires in aluminium and add the spare tires.
    Would bump up the price a lot and a lot of work but the finished product would be awesome.

    Splendid trailer, it is true that it is the European style, I often see these storage boxes for pallets on refrigerated trailers, same thing for the rear bumper, because here it is mandatory to have the anti-underrun bar . The closing of the rear doors is very specific to Tamiya, I have the same thing on my truck Mercedes 1850. So now you will have to make fruit and vegetable crate pallets 😄

      Haha, thanks for sharing Pascal. I liked your Mercedes 1850 video. 👌

    Can't wait to see what you do with this trailer. I really wish that Tamiya would produce more North American rigs and trailers but I guess the rig hobby is more popular in Europe? Love to see them produce the Allied Moving trailer like one of your examples, or a B train set up, or a car carrier.

      Ya Freddy, I agree, they have more of a Euro design to their trailers, some more than others. Not that its a bad thing, but like you said, I wish they could provide a few North American styles as well. It seems they've eased off on the throttle as far as coming out with innovative stuff. The flip side is that i've noticed more regular joe's are making some of their own trailer builds themselves and are looking better than anything Tamiya has. Thanks for sharing. Loved your flatbed video!

      I just built one of these and did away with the 3 axle set up and used two custom made air ride axles removed the box on the bottom and made a custom rear bumper it looks like a North American trailer now there fairly easy to modify

      @@WhiteCalf136 Awesome buddy, exactly what i'm doing with this one! I bet yours looks good, would love to see it! I got the shorter axles from Ali express, they came in so now I can put the dual wheels on. That box is gone too, so is the bumper 🤮. I'm gonna get rid of that decal and add my own. I got a cool reefer fuel tank that I'm gonna add to it as well. The air bags sound slick! Thanks for sharing pal 👍

    Cool video. After I built my trailer I started thinking about my upgrades but it’s a lot of work taking it apart. So I will just buy another and install them as I go.

    Are there any 1/14 scale trailers with functioning roll up doors instead of the swing out doors?

      Not too sure, there are lots of different online websites that sell them, or your local hobby shop. You'll have to look around.

    It is too European for me. Needs aero skirts and dual wheels and dual axles

    • @westernsharpie
      @westernsharpie  2 роки тому

      Dual wheels are a must, also most reefers I've seen are tandems yes👍

      Why would I mod this? I'm silly? The mod turned out quite well. I don't mind some criticism but you gotta strange/rude way of expressing your opinion. I'll get right on that rack for ya. lol
