We have the hay forks in your barn and wondered how they worked.Seems that ours worked with a electric motor, but my father said he used horses.Maybe he used both. Thanks for the video. He call your hay loader a hay elevator
Hay Hay, glad you like the video. It doesn't work with and electric motor, just the wheels acting as a drive shaft running the gears which drive the chain. Pulled with a Deere instead of a horse.
Brilliant video! Have been looking for a "horsefork" in action after reading Ralph Moody's Fields of Home, to show my girls and this looks so effective!
Thank you for the post, I love engineered tools made with wood from days gone bye, incredible demonstration as well, I'd love to buy and restore that hay loader if you would consider that, done by engineers, like brand new museum condition. let me know
What an interesting and old skool way of doing Hay. Love the Goats too.
It was fun to film too. Really amazing thats how they do it year after year . Thanks
Excellent....I only wish that was an old Ford tractor pulling that McCormick Deering Hay Loader.....keep up the good work!
Thank you Mr. R! That tall first gear on my 2n might have been too quick for this operation. Another reason to covet the Sherman step down.

I was wondering if an electric winch in the hay loft could be used instead of a tractor. 1 man operation.
thanks 4 posting this, i've seen tons of hay loaders, but i never seen one working
My pleasure! I was in the same boat. It is really quite an operation they have going there. Cool name, by the way.

Thanks a lot!
who thinks up these inventions. Its beyond impressive to see something like this in action. Do you know how old this technology dates
Its so hard to imagine inventing this.
Nice video as always
Thank you so much!
