Dan, these videos are so satisfyingly therapeutic! I am nervous for you when you cut all the rotten stuff out, but once the new bits start to go back on and fit nice....amazing!!!!
Here is Arch saying that is an awesome job on that Arch Dan !!
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching Arch!
Welder sounds so much better than it did, not that I know anything about welding but it sounded slow and lazy, now it's way more sharp, great work as usual, can't wait to see all the cleaning and rebuilding of all the parts, just spent the last few months doing that on my Peugeot so will be nice to see someone else go through that pain 😂😂
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud! It is singing now! It does have it's day's where it play's up but on the whole works pretty well! I can't wait to get started on sorting the other parts out!
This is going to be one of the finest examples of a mk1 GTI when you’re done!
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching Dave! I really hope it is at least an OK example!!! I think it will get scrutinised at every event it goes to.
I'm going through parts of the same process with my Mk1 GTI 1983. Welding new floor panels and sills. This couldn't be more of a coincidence. Bought the panels from oldtimer-werk.de because heritage parts centre were out of stock. thanks a lot, I'm learning a lot from you! . Regards from the Netherlands.
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching Peter! Glad you are enjoying it. Good luck with your restoration.
At this rate it will be ready for paint real soon. Again class work mate and I will look forward to your next upload 👍🏽
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching Peter, I really hope so! Want it in paint ASAP!
Lovely Jubbly, said it before, but half an hour flies when watching Dan's videos. Keep up the excellent work matey.
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud! So glad you are enjoying the series bud!
Love watching this and how it’s coming together
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud!
Well done mate! You are making serious progress and you can see your confidence is growing 👊🏽😎 big love!
Cheers bro❤️
Great work enjoying watching you get after it
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud!
Watching these through in sequence and noticed your series on your main page only goes up to 11. Loving the work and enjoying your learning mate!
The way you are going Dan this lovely piece of motoring history will be on the road by February 😂, doing well though chap, rock on
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching John! I am aiming to hopefully be able to get the car sorted for some show's next year if they go ahead! Would be so good to complete the project in under a year!
Good fabrication Dan looks like your cracking on with it well done
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching Martin. Something has clicked and I feel I am getting somewhere now!
Can't wait to see done you are doing brilliant job on that nice
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud! I can't either! I have still never driven one 🤣
Good work, when doing plug welds I always turn the welder up a bit,
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud! Yes, Learnt that after a few bad one's!
You're doing so well Dan, that Golf is going to be a lovely example!
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud! Hopefully it will be!
Smashing it Dan! Keep it coming.
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud!
Wow the progress is fantastic...
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud!
Doing a great job Dan, When plug welding push the weld pool around the outside edge ( it’s effectively a lap joint) and finish in the middle, obviously you need to work quick with sheet steel but if you start blowing through just reduce the amps/ wire feed accordingly. Glad you got the joggler mate it’ll make a difference👍🏻
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud! Yeah I tried a few way's and this way seem's to work the best. The smaller the hole the easier/better it is too. Joggler makes the perfect hole to weld!
It's going to look really good Dan
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching Carl! I really hope so!
Was thinking you need a joggler and low and behold you had one, certainly faster then drilling holes.
Like others have said Halfords? Really lol
Every other restoration I watch use what you are now, so plainly the best for the job.
Good to see progress in a head scratcher area on the car.
Keep working hard and look forward to the next instalment
Nice one Dan
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud! What a tool that is!!!! Just used it it to joggle the floor section into shape 💪 Yeah Halfords was my bad.... Glad you are enjoying it dude.
Moving ever upwards, good job
Thank you dude!
Well done dude. Good progress
Cheers bro

Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud!
Another great video Dan, I've been restoring cars for 20yrs and the work your doing on the Mk1 is better than most I've seen and it's your first time doing it, unbelievable 👍
Thank you so much for watching and for the amazing comment bud! I am really enjoying learning the process! Hopefully the next project will be even better and a faster process!
Makes me want to start a project! Done a lot of cars so far, but never did any welding/fabricating... But seeing you just do it, makes me want to as well
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud! Go for it!!!! I have been put off by Fabrication/Welding for so long. I am loving being able to do it all now!
So glad I found your channel, loving it
Thank you, Glad you are enjoying it
Bit by bit it coming together
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud!
Great job. Keep it up
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud!
Great choice of music. And the welds are looking pretty good. The argon mix makes things a bunch easier. Keep up the great work..
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching Stacy, Glad you are liking the music, It takes longer to find the right music than it does to edit the footage! The Argon mix makes it so much easier!
This is gonna be 1 sorted little motor once you’ve finished! Well done dan, I’m impressed
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching Daniel! Glad you are enjoying it!

Thank you so much for the comment and for watching Darren! I really do, Subscriptions seem to have dropped off a fair bit recently.
It’ll pick up again when the algorithm comes back round in your favour. Need todo some collabs lol check out the bad obsession motorsport guys. Their mini build is epic.
Nice work dan, getting there bit by bit. It’s quite daunting the way the mk1 is put together in some areas until you get your head around it. Enjoying the series so far keep it up
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching Phil, It really is. I have now realised that as long as the car is solid it doesn't matter if the panels don't meet in exactly the same place as factory.
It’s coming along great Dan, keep up the great work 😉🇮🇪
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching Alan!
Taking shape now nice work getting me motivated to crack on with the beetle more keep it up mate 👍🏻
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching Chris! Glad it is helping to motivate you! Had quite a few messages/comments saying the same!

Was shouting Upol when you said halfords haha glad you using upol
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching Jeremy. 🤣 Yeah was stupid of me to buy Halfords shit!!!
Wow, project GTI is coming along nicely. Amazing work Dan, great detailed video of the work you are doing.👍🤟✊
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching Nick! Glad you are enjoying it!
Hi Dan love the detail and all the work you are putting into the car. You said about the welding gas and I wondered what amps you are running your welder on for the sheet metal you are using as you don’t seem to get any burn through but you are getting good penetration. Which I’m struggling with.
Thanks
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching Neil! I only have setting's on my welder. For 1mm gapped butt joins I am using setting 1 - Minimum and wire speed 8. For Thicker or plug welds I am using setting 1 - Maximum and wire speed 8. Hope this helps. I spent a while with some scrap to find the right setting.
Hello Dan a great work👍👍👍I love your videos😎From Germany 🇩🇪 👋👋👋Kai
Thank you Brother❤️
you'll be at 100k subs by Feb 2021 easily - great vids

Who knew, Halfords churning out rubbish 🙄
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching David. 🤣🤣🤣
Looking good Dan! Quality work man. What color do you think she'll be when it's all said and done? Fingers crossed for cornflour blue. Lol
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching Kyle. Glad you are enjoying it. The car will be going back to it's original iconic Mars Red!
@@DanChambersDAC very cool, love the color choice.
LETS GOOOOOOO
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud!
When you revealing the new project cars
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud! It has all been pushed back by a few months unfortunately
I love your channel but can we move on from cutting and welding yet 😫
Cheers for watching dude. I really wish we could do but unfortunately I can only make content on what I am doing and that at the moment is cutting and welding. I am hoping to throw in a few video's of other area's but all of my focus is on getting a solid shell at the moment.
Looking good mate...👍
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching bud!
