I remember buying Bruce's first record back in the early 1970s. i was first in the "hood" to buy it. I detected something in that voice. I was a big folk, country, gospel fan and I always thought that Bruce had probably started with those songs before turning his creative energies to rock. It's a process and here he is back where he started.
Who'da thunk it? Bruce Springsteen recorded a version of that song. I was a huge Bruce fan in the '70s and 80's and then my tastes moved in other directions--toward country, folk, and bluegrass. This was probably the first country gospel song I ever learned!
