As a die hard Bon Iver fan, this is possibly their most basic song to react to from a music standpoint. 33 GOD, 45, deathbreast. Essentially anything from their NPR live concert would give you loads more to react to and dissect. The version of Creature Fear from that NPR concert is phenomenal - way more to comment on.
Finally got to see Bon Iver live for the first time this past summer. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. His setlist was perfect from front to back and to experience this version of Blood Bank live was a spiritual experience.
Jenn Wasner (synth player with the jumpsuit) is great. You should check out her own records as Wye Oak and Flock of Dimes. Also go watch Sylvan Esso - WITH LOVE. It's a live concert they did that has Jenn as well as the drummer from Bon Iver.
Bon Iver played Primavera Sound several years ago and was incredible. My favorite was probably “33 God”. The only way I know to find it on UA-cam is by searching BI - PS. Enjoy!
Michael! Thanks souch for doing some Bon Iver. I have been watching the channel for like 3 years now and it's so sick to see one of my favorite channels cover my favorite artist. Justin is a genius and all his projects are so unique.
Holocene and Re:stacks are two of my favorites from Bon Iver’s early stuff before he went more progressive and electronic. My two favorites during the two more electronic albums are 666 and Hey, Ma.
I saw them on this tour (I think a night or two before this? I saw them in Boston) and it was incredible. I usually hate arena shows but they managed to make it feel way more intimate even with the spectacular visuals, and the mixing was perfect. I've been to hundreds of concerts and it was easily top 5 for me.
Love Bon Iver and their huge atmospheric sound they’ve developed. You should check out their vocal only performance of Heavenly Father at the Sydney opera house with the Staves. Their guitar arrangements don’t stand out to me in particular, their self titled album probably has the most in that aspect. I love Bon iver for the stripped down earlier acoustic work, the falsetto and lyric content as well as some of the later keyboard and electronic driven work.
Hey Michael I’m a huge Bon iver fan myself and would love to see you ready to Justin’s (lead) solo performance on Jules Holland of Skinny Love. Also would love to see you check out some Sam Fender he’s brilliant.
The key was to listen to STUDIO version of this. This live version is not it. I’d love to watch your reaction to the non live version. It’s absolutely breathtaking.
I played this a lot with a band and when our singer was feeling funny he would sing it, "I met her at the sperm bank, she was drinking on the job"...we would crack up and nobody else would even notice lol
So funny to hear someone who has only heard blood bank in this form. Its a song who's live performance has grown and changed SO dramatically from its original. I love both because I am a huge Bon Iver fan. The original has more heart imo
Love Bon Iver. Top 3 fav of all time for me. This is great but there are 20 better tunes and performances out there. Would love to see you review more from him
bon iver is great but i still think his best work is with Deyarmond Edison. "bones" and "Heart for Hire" are two of my all time favorite songs. after the first 2 bon iver albums he kinda went off the rails with making intentionally weird and unique snowflake music
Love that you checked Blood Bank out. Wrote it with Justin. Ended up giving blood 🩸 one day. I thought it was interesting how there were two bags of blood stacked on top of each other. Probably family members who had given blood as well.
@@sleepyskin The amount of music that I’ve written over the past few years for people that I written for would surprise you, yet I’m fine with people not crediting me.
I like what I can make out of the lyrics, but the problem I have with today's music is that vocals are too far in the background, drowned out by everything else. I long for the old days when they put the vocals up front. What's the point of having awesome lyrics if you can't make them out? Today's musicians need better mixing, both in the studio and live.
Bon Iver, in my opinion, is the most overlooked and underappreciated group. Their music is felt by the soul.
One of my favorite artists of all time, tons more from him you should react to for sure!

Yeah happy he hit Bon Iver. Such a shame this was the suggested song.
is it from NPRs tiny desk series?
That NPR Concert is one of my go-to's live shows on youtube for the past 7-8 years.
YES 33 god live is something else
No guitar in it, but another good video would be the AIR session vidéo with Justin and Sean from ages ago

I’m so glad you’re getting the chance to check out Bon Iver. Excellent!
I would pass out if you reviewed Bon Iver’s “Holocene”. Anyone else agree that should happen?
Man I wish I could go back to hearing Bon Iver for the first time. Enjoy Michael!

I love Bon Iver! You need to check out some his stuff from his first two albums. They’re the best imo. His song Skinny love is one of my favorites.
Bon Iver played Primavera Sound several years ago and was incredible. My favorite was probably “33 God”. The only way I know to find it on UA-cam is by searching BI - PS. Enjoy!
Check out the stripped down original version. Recorded in a cabin in the woods of Wisconsin. So good.
I don’t think the Blood Bank EP songs were recorded at the same time as For Emma. For Emma was the cabin era.
Michael! Thanks souch for doing some Bon Iver. I have been watching the channel for like 3 years now and it's so sick to see one of my favorite channels cover my favorite artist. Justin is a genius and all his projects are so unique.
My first vid, but I enjoyed it! Well done sir! Thanks
I love when guitarists reviews drums
oh my goodness, never thought the day would come. pumped for thus

This band has a unique power in their songwriting.
I saw them at Jazzfest years ago. It was absolutely amazing.
Saw then in Amsterdam a couple years ago, the perfect place I would say
Their most basic song, only (?) optimistic on love, and on an EP and it’s my favorite. Wild.

I didn’t hear this song until Architects covered it despite being familiar with some of Bon Iver’s work. Absolutely love the original though!
I hope you take the time to listen to the studio version. It's acoustic and you can hear the lyrics better. Beautiful.
Love Bon Iver!

Pls listen to his Sydney opera version of Calgary! Just to appreciate his country/ vocal ability
top2 concert i've ever been to, but man pj harvey was just something else entirely
PLEASE check out Skinny Love - Bon Iver live on BBC Music
The NPR version of Creature Fear would be the most interesting video to react to from guitar standpoint: ua-cam.com/video/YJNi7aRwUzU/v-deo.html
Hey Michael! Awesome stuff , check out Bon Iver - For Emma , forever ago, the one in the streets of paris?maybe
If you haven’t already you should check out Fingers Mitchell Cullen Freedom Rides at Denmark markets is a good place to start!
Taj farrant. A 14 year old who topped the blues charts with his original! React pleaseeeeeeee
Bon Iver, I could not click on this fast enough.
Check out "Creature Fear" ua-cam.com/video/4L05VwDlgWE/v-deo.html for some interesting guitar playing...
Love Bon Iver. Top 3 fav of all time for me. This is great but there are 20 better tunes and performances out there. Would love to see you review more from him
please check out for the original of blood bank lp or the Daytrotter Sessions
33 God-NPR live concert…please
More Bon Iver
715 Creeks next please??
When do we get a sleep token reaction?

Blood Bank is an awesome name for a song/album. It makes you think about people that profit from other's blood.
Missing a wicked guitar solo to top it off though.

Are you saying you co-wrote Blood Bank?
@@sleepyskin yep 👍
@@LukeVanGeest interesting, you’re not credited anywhere on his albums or songs.

You have a lot of expensive guitars.
Should check out something else from Bon Iver, this isn’t your style
they sound yawn fest
