Eurovision 2024 Revamps.. Good or Bad?
A long time ago, when we still did many songs in Swedish, I remember being so very disappointed when they changed a Swedish song to English for Eurovision. I clearly remember being really mad and thinking nope, that wasn't the song we sent. I loved the Swedish lyrics and I don't know but I did not feel the same with the English translation. It was in 2000 and the song with Roger Pontare.
Swedish title "När vindarna viskar mitt namn" turned to "When the spirits are calling my name". Is it the same title? Well, the meaning behind it is the same but in Swedish it actually says 'When the winds are whispering my name'. So yeah. Same but not same. Of course the translation meant that most could now understand it but to me it lost something in the translation. It didn't feel as personal in a way. I dunno. Can't explain it. *lol* There just is something special with songs in your own language I guess.
My opinion on revamps is: I don’t like revamps, in principle
I think that if you present a song for Eurovision, especially if you have televote involved to select it, it should stay the same as it was presented
I feel kind of disrespect towards me if I vote for that song and then it gets changed to something that I don’t like as much as the second placed song, if that happens what then? Even if I end up liking it better it’s not good in principle

TBH, by the time the contest comes around, if there has been a revamp, we've probably forgotten all about the original already. Y'know, we just move on with what is actually going to be at the actual contest. It may make a difference on the MyEurovision app, or with the bookmakers but I've moved on already
