Holy fuck!!! I bought a awd 2011 gs350 2 months ago and I absolutely adore it and am quite satisfied with its performance. But this V8 sounds every bit of amazing. This is the part where I get jealous...af

I got one like this and the GS460 is even more rare in Europe than in the US. I think about 5000 GS460 were sold worldwide, and roughly 2500-3000 of these in the US alone, and less than 1000 in Europe.
I think I am one among maybe less than 100 people still owning a GS460 in Germany. GS 450h, and GS300 are way more "common" with this model, and GS430 are easier to find. But still you may see a lot more Porsche 911 Turbo, or even some more Ferrari or Lamborghini model than a Lexus GS in Germany. GS are really exotic here. And it's not even expensive. It's about the same price to equivalent Mercedes W211 E500, or BMW E60 540i/545i/550i, except the Lexus is fully loaded with all extras.
But I don't complain. Appart from Gas consumption pretty high due to V8 (compared to Euro cars that are mostly 3, 4 or 6 cylinders, and often Diesel), this car is way cheaper to own than my previous Volvo or Audi. Appart from Oil change and brake pads (which are pretty weak IMO), nothing else to service.
This car is really reliable, and fast enough for Autobahn when you need to go fast.
Once a guy in France in a huge brand new Range Rover stopped me and told me: "Don't sell it, keep it! I had the same model and changed it for an S Class Mercedes, and it was my biggest mistake. This car was so much more reliable than the Mercedes". I think I will do as he said.

PPE now makes headers for the gs460, gutted cats, custom intake pipe, lightweight wheels and i did a pcv delete
So PPE.. Official really? I talked to them and JBA about a year ago and nada.. Plus I'm stuck with the single TB and 2MAF's and building a intake isn't expensive... I literally have no time and searching through - ebay parts list for "slot MAF sensors/housing" has literally slowed and stopped everything. Custom turbo? Nope MAF issue. Custom cold air? Nah MAF issue..

Can you tell me more about the exhaust setup? Straight pipe cat-back? True dual with h-pipe or two completely separate pipes?
Keeps stock piping setup just removed mufflers and all cats on it and replaced the resonator

I’m debating on buying an is 350 vs gs 460, which one do you think is better when it comes to looks, reliability, cost of ownership, speed, luxury features, interior space and comfort? In short which is the best bang for your buck?
Both share the same suspension and interior features, so they ride similarly , on the stiff side, both had interior rattles but i fixed it on my GS, the IS350 felt a bit lighter, but did feel nimbler on the corners, GS sounds better with exhaust imo, i like the V8 and 8 speed alot more. GS gets better mpg city and highway when driven granny style since it needs less RPMs to get/stay moving. GS has more room and is more comfortable. The back seats just dont have room in the IS, both cars look great imo, i do like the interior on both but prefer the GS, GS feels more luxurious to me(it has soft close windows lol) and mirror blinkers .Both cars are fast, the IS takes off a bit quicker to 60, but the 460 is faster at higher speeds, i love it. Both cars are super reliable, But the 3.5 is a bit more reliable, i had the water pump go out on the IS, and the starter went out in my GS which is a big job, but i got it done for cheap. Overall i like the 460 more, best bang for the buck, its super rare too.

Extremely reliable, unless you buy a beaten up one that had skipped maintenance. Even high mileage (300k km) are fine as long as they had regular service history.

What's with the ISF TCU swap? I can literally find no information on the swap, any links or info you could share? I want to buy a GS460, but, the transmission kinda pisses me off with how slow it upshifts and downshifts, it does have good power though, wondering if the TCU fixes that
It has great power, Theres barely any info on the GS460 alone, they only made 1600 of em, the ISF transmission computer eliminates the softness and speeds up the shift a bit, but i also have trans pressure maps adjusted in my tune, trust me i hated how it shifted stock, now i get firm shifts even at low throttle

@@draked9793 the TCU is in the front engine bay, drivers side in the same box as the ECU. it should be plug and play with stock but a tune would really make it shine.

Wtf is a GS460, u mean ls460
in 2006 when the new GS came out, came with 4 powertrain options, base 300 (3.0 V6) 350 (3.5 V6) 450h (3.5 V6 with hybrid system) and the 460 (4.6 V8). This motor was also available in other Lexus products during this time. Hope that clears up any confusion.
