Hello Bernard any news on the restoration or is the old girl up for sale in the near future as I would be interested. I have restored a Chieftain Tank MBT MK10 to like new condition inside and out. Take a look at my channel. Great to see the Centurian MBT and ARV - poetry in motion.
I'm guessing that a full rebuild would cost around a million dollars. In America, that vehicle would be towed into a warehouse, and then the machine would be completely disassembled. The engine and transmission would be sent out for a rebuild, and then the rest of the parts would be sandblasted. And that's just for starters. It might be possible to set-up a fundraising campaign.
It probably got a coat of paint and is a museum piece or gate gardian somewhere ...As you suggest a full overhaul would be ideal ,but again the cost is high ,,,What used to happen when they where in service was the hull once stripped was put in a bath that stripped off all the layers of paint that had been applied by brush over the years lol...And then rebuilt to new ,the only issue we had was it was done in workshops in germany where we employed the locals ,which with their work ethic gave us a good vehicle ,but the downside was there was a few communists also there ,stealing and sabotaging the equiptment when they got a chance ...I don't know if america overhauled their kit in germany or took it back to the U.S as you could probably do a 1 for 1 swap you have that much kit
@@norb0254 I’ll tell you something funny. In some countries (I think Sweden) if you rebuild a tank, the government will give you permission to drive it around, and fire blanks. You could have tank wars in a parking lot.
Strange gun no compensator or bore evacuator in the middle of the barrel like my old dinky toy had. I follow mrhewes as he has a lot centurions most are ARVEs which he and his crew somehow bring back to life!

It's a Mk III with a 20 pounder gun. The later 105mm was fitted with a bore evacuator, (as were some 20 pdrs).
Good to see the VW driver like any other german brand driver is impatient and wants to get by lol

What makes you think it even has an engine? If it had one it wouldn't be legal to drive it on the road.
