Now back to this cool controller, as I come from analog studio with only outboard gears, nowadays for obvious reasons i shrank down my recording environment to travel size. midi Key Controller, 2 mac (laptop Imac) studio monitors,and Machine (drum). Software LogicPro, Reason 8, sometime I use studio one + loads of plugs-in. Recently I was re-touching an old product and fast like a rabbit I was on the mouse : solo, mute, faders down etc. to get the new feel and create a new dub or mix of that project. Now... I was thinking the good ol days with a 32 channels analog board where you could lean over and get into mixing ( Body & Mixing Board became One!) Now found the B. Touch X turn me on to get a portable unit (gadget0 to add to my portable arsenal... This way I can not only leave the mouse alone but mixing, again body and mix board...using faders ( brings that sound in or out, mute, solo it while song/track is playing and record it so that you can actually one up with a new remix without been a mechanical mouse-holder. My quest is: can I record with the X Touch this mixdown on the flow and save them? ( meaning fade in or out a channel, mute it or solo it, open the sends to a certain point in the song? ) So Sorry for this biblical message. THANKS A LOT! Alexia.

To answer your question, depending on your DAW and how it implements Mackie Control protocols, the X-TOUCH controller doesn't record but is able to handle things like channel faders, mutes, solos and sends etc for you to control during your mix down sessions. X-TOUCH is perfect for hands on control of what you want to control within your DAW!

As far as concern recording, I meant whatever I would do with X TOUCH, ( moving faders, mute or solo on the fly,) would it be possible record this within the DAW ? sort of like arm an automation, and while rec bottom is active in Logic X I could start to use the faders i.e. (raise volume, bring in or out certain sounds moving the faders of the XTOUCH,) mute and/or solo channels. Can it be possible to record all these info in Logic - play back the sequencer with the results of my "On The Fly" mix? I got the grip X TOUCH is a DAW controller, my aim is to understand if X TOUCH can transmit to Logic informations and record them... Hey, Boss.. Just got my X Touch today in 2022.. Just realized a while ago, having a control surface like this was the missing likk for me mastering Logica Pro.. It made me realize I subconsciously hated using a mouse to manipulate a mixing board.. Thanks a lot for sharing

I just got my xtouch 3 days ago and it works great in Ableton. Just a few issues you can maybe help me with: 1. the touch sensitive faders don't respond - they don't highlight or select the tracks. When I touch them I can see the chanel info changing in the little displays, but that's all it does. I've tried midi mapping in Ableton and when I assign the fader to a track, it selects the track but then the fading stops working. Ableton told me the problem is the mixer is sending a "pitchbend" command and not a note to the DAW. 2. Pushing the global view button doesn't do anything but showing me the return channels. I can't choose audio- or miditracks or anything else. 3. I heard that MC doesn't support the different colours on the scribble strips but then it wouldn't work in any software using the MC protokoll. What's the point of showing them in your adds?

Is it possible to assign specific faders/knobs to specific tracks? I am using a DAW to mix a band live and I do not need to ability to flip channel banks, but would rather have 8 permanently assigned faders. For example in my 45 track project, I want tracks 2, 3, 16, 18, 24, .. and so on to be assigned to faders 1-8. I realize this can probably be done using midi mode, but it would be nice to not lose the extra functionality of mackie control. Also I'm wondering can the master fader be reassigned? I don't know anyone that would touch the master fader in a project.
Can you do a video showing the functionality in Adobe Premiere Pro using the Mackie protocol? I'd love to see how the panel works for doing sound editing within a video NLE - it looks like this could be the perfect tool that video editors have been looking for.
2 Questions, First- is there a way to "Hard assign" faders to certain tracks in logic? My mix template has the following busses Drums/Bass/Guitar/Vocals etc. I would like to have these front and center for quick access because im always muting/soloing, and working on these tracks more than all the others. Everything Ive seen so far just selects faders based on the first track selected in the active window, which always confuses me as to which faders are controlling what. SECOND- Do you guys offer remote consultation services/classes for users that want to optimize their workflow with your products? I am considering purchasing an x touch and If i could do a one on one session to get up and running with a personalized setup I would pay good money for that. Thanks!
Hey Phil, I just recently purchased the X Touch myself and out the box from the get go I am loving it!! My only concern seems to be when I touch any of the faders it does exactly as it is suppose to do but it pulls up my plugins as well.. and that is somewhat annoying when editing.. would u possibly be able to tell me how to get rid of this problem?
I'd like to make a suggestion of having and X-TOUCH expansion. I understand you can daisy chain 2 units together but in reality you'd only need the fader side not the transport wheel and everything else in the way...just my 2 cents

This will ultimately depend on FL Studio's implementation of the Mackie Control (MC and/or HUI) control protocols. Please check with their developer for more information on what they do/do not allow to be accessed in their DAW software.
Great video presentation! I have Auria Pro and the X Touch. I can only get the X Touch to be recognized by Auria Pro using the HUI protocol and it only offers limited functionality. Can you share Auria settings which work for setting up the X Touch using the Mackie Control protocol?

Extra usb ports, touch mode and latch mode atomation, footswitchable punching in and out, plus touch sensitive and moterized faders. Have ya'll been reading my mind? Can you use the footswitch to activate record mode if you are two rooms away from the control room? And If you miss your cue can you set a point where it will restart so you don't have to walk back to the control room to back up the track and restart thats 40 feet away?

When i press play on my X-TOUCH my margin continually jumps or skips in the same place or spot of my project and will not play forward, but when i hit play on my X- TOUCH COMPACT it plays. What may be my problem?

I have the X touch and Reaper. Although I enjoy it, a lot of the functions don't seem supported, such as touch selecting tracks with the faders, as well as marker, nudge etc.

Yes you can use the X-TOUCH Mini with X AIR products, but you have to program the X-TOUCH Mini using CC commands found in the MIDI implementation chart in the back of the X AIR QSG and Manual.
The UB1622FX-PRO is an Analog Mixer, and doesn't contain a built in Audio Interface. It will work with Logic just as any Analog Mixer would, but will require some sort of Audio Interface to get signal in to your computer. +MaxPainTV Make sure the "Plug-in" button at the encoder assign button isn't pressed and this should stop happening.

Scroll through the fader banks until you get all the way to the master fader, then hit the mute button for that fader.
