I lived here during my childhood. My mom is from this island. Brought back so many memories watching you walk down streets I used to walk daily. Thanks man. And this video is excellent for people who want to explore less touristy places.
There are some Islands like this in Greece. Every one has its own style. Avery distinct island where it is quiet and yet affordable with the best beaches in Greece is Alonissos. along with the other 2 islands in the group( Skiathos and Skopelos) have an unpresidented scenery beaches , where in one side of the island is tropical and the other side of the island is wild and rocky especially Alonissos.
There are many places in Grece that are marvelous and these are not the fanous Islands where they are too crowded and not that special. Milos, for instance, Skopelos and Alonisos as well. or Zakynthos at the other side.
Bright & picture perfect for another beautiful place. I'm glue to your channel. I love Greece. I love Europe. Thank you very much for sharing. Really appreciate it & enjoy yourself.
samos is one of the best places I've ever been, the lifestyle, gem beaches, beautiful villages hidden in the mountains, incredible place. Would retire there in a perfect world
Glad u area Samos ! Consider little Ikaria just next door , apparently people on they island have the longest lifespan of anyone in the world. Also as suggested by others Rhodes , the old city will be right up your alley - thanks again
Hello , as I said I am a Greece lover, Karlovassi is the less touristic place of Samos, but even beautiful, there are 3 in 1 Towns, new, old and middle Karlovassi, the most spectacular food me it was old Karlovassi, close to the is the famous Potami Beach and a little bit further is Mikro Zeitani and Megalo Zeitani. You must visit also the mountain villages as Manolates or Bourliotes, Platanos in the other side of the island. The north is drier and the south very windy and lush green. The most touristic Kokari and Pythagorio villages, but Vathy the Capital city is beautiful, and surrounded by amazing beaches, one of my preference is Mourtia, and you can visit also de Monastery up there. So many places to visit in that wonderful island, and don't forget to try the famous Samian white wine! ( vin doux du Samos). Enjoy it!
Thanks for the info Francisco. I did indeed visit Manolates: ua-cam.com/video/sh0N4403H6Y/v-deo.html And also explored around Ormos: ua-cam.com/video/TnMHemqKWt4/v-deo.html
Beautiful Gabe, I have missed seeing your travels. Looking good buddy. Michele and I can sit and catch up with some of your travels.. We have a down few weeks planned. All the best buddy.

Enjoying your Greece vids Gabriel. If you want to see the real Greece go visit the Mani Peninsula in the southern Peloponnese. In particular West Mani. Wild, unspoilt and simply beautiful.
Ah haha you looked well chuffed with the little town/village you are staying in and rightly so, it looks beautiful there. I haven’t seen any videos in Samos before so I’m really excited to see it through your eyes.
Hello Gabe, greetings from PR friend. Planning a trip to some of the islands on 2019, thanks for the great videos. I see them every couple of days and need to say it is always fun. Keep it up amigo :)
Nice! The home of the legendary Pythagoras... it looks quite green and fertile, even after the summer, much more so than Anafi and Santorini anyway. Definately planning to visit How would you rate the beaches in comparison to other isalnds?
Are you going to come to Rhodes island at any point because I've been working in lindos for the whole summer and has amazing views, lots to explore on the island like hidden forts, amazing beaches and a few castle/acropolis on the island. Defo worth the visit
Wow, our Greek restaurant on Jackson Street in San Francisco is Kokkari too. Went there when I was on an expense account. Village must not be as high end.
Gabriel please visit the Canary Islands one day! If you enjoyed the islander people, beaches, blue sea and food you can find all that here and you can visit the highest volcano in Europe! That means you can enjoy a mountain landscape and in 15 min arrive to the beach!

I was there in n June You spoke to my friend Miriam at the restaurant they have amazing food and great prices. if you see her please say hello from Nancy and Adam from Australia. you stayed near the hotel I stayed it's called Hotel Cattleya if you see Renee the owner and Katerina they are awesome. It's straight across from Kamelia a few metres further up the hill. Love kokkari the prettiest town we have stayed.
The coast opposite was inhabited at 85-90% by Greeks up to the Greek-Turkish war of the 1920s. During Ottoman times Greeks lived mainly at the opposite Aegean coast of Asia Minor. Especially the middle part opposite Samos. It was very Greek in culture. After 20s, with exchange of populations, 1.5 million Greeks left those areas and Turks went there.
The area in the beginning of the video looked kind of desolate and I was wondering why you wanted to go to this island. Where you ended up looks lovely. 👍
I nearly sure the woman at the restaurant was Dutch. If you go by with your friend from Holland, get her to ask. Probably working for the summer. Would love to be there
+AmetReloads I am Greek, having lived in the NL for good 8 years. The blonde girl for sure has some association with the NL. You can hear it in her English accent and you can notice it at her typical dutch body posture when she was giving directions to Gabriel. She also had authentic greek accent when she corrected Gabriel's accent for Kamelia. She looks greek and/or dutch and she sounds greek and/or dutch. She must be dutch with greek origin or the other way round. I think the first is more likely.....What a mystery!
@@TiesK Where does she say "Hello, good afternoon" in Dutch? I didn't hear it at all. And I listened carefully at what she was saying (I also know some Dutch and the accent of the language). She was definitely Greek. Also, if she was Dutch, especially coming in Greece only for the summer, her Greek, including her accent, would not possibly be perfect, as in this case. Her Greek would be 100% broken due to phonological differences between Greek and Dutch. She spoke perfect Greek like a local, as she probably is. If she's not, then she's from Athens. Last but not least, her relatively deep voice might be attributed to the fact that she's a smoker.
The Turning Point at 12:21 she said "hai, goeiemiddag" (Dutch for "Hello, goodafternoon") with no accent at all. Because I wasn't sure if she actually said that or if I just imagined it I listened twice and am certain. Interesting that she has no accent for both languages, probably has a history with both countries!
Sweet. Try to do the hike up Mt. Teide volcano if you can. I was supposed to do it myself on the last day but the tour was cancelled because of the weather. Have an epic time, the Canaries are amazing.
Yes I'm fine, the storms weren't bad in this part of the islands, just some clouds and a little rain. I'm now on Patmos. New video from Samos coming soon.
hi, Gabriel have you ever visit Pakistan?? i'll be your best host if you'll visit here . i live in Lahore and it is famous for its old history and food . i am your regular follower . and Northern areas of Pakistan just amazing , plz plan to visit here.

Your videos are so inspiring! Very relaxing to watch as well. Greetings from Colorado
Samos has great mountain villages, like Manolates, and the best sweet wine in Greece!
Manolates was really nice, that will be the next video.

There is!

It is. My parents are from there. It's about 45 minutes drive further south from Kalamata. Do yourself a favour next summer 🙂

Go Gabe! I watched this after walking to the bus station in Belgium. Doing some city hopping.
Nice, have fun.
My thoughts are with the people of Samos during this earthquake tragedy. 🙏
really enjoyed with your video. Pls upload more vidoe of Samos...:)

Will you advise in expensive area to stay with bus not too far away near to the beach. Any Uber around? Or how to call taxi?
Given its so close to Turkey what are the main cultural influences on this Island ?
Greek
Turkey? Alikarnassos, Efesos, Smyrni, Pergamos, Ankara, Konstantinopole hahahaha
