There’s nothing so powerful as the bond between a man and his best mate. Any man who’s had a good boy like Jack knows this to be true. Got me thinking about my Bear who died many years ago now and I still miss him just as much. I’m sure you were the entire universe for Jack and he looked to have the best life a boy could have. Sat here with me 16yr old lab who went blind about 7yr ago so had to retire her from working know she’s on borrowed time but she can still smell a piece of chicken at 50 yard. I lost my last springer a couple or years back and enjoyed so many days working the tribe I’ve not been able to replace them yet. Will miss your boss and my deepest sympathy but know he’s had a great time with you.
What a team you both made. Most of us can only dream of having such I wonderful dog at some point in our lives. He will be sadly missed by all of us. As me old mum used to say " they are not gone - they are still with us, it is just that we cannot see them ". RIP Jack.
As an old man in rural Florida I have owned a dozen or so dogs that have dedicated their all to me and my family; let me say I know how you feel! It is awful to loose your most dedicated and loyal friend. You fortunately have great video of Jack at his best! Hopefully you can soon begin to enjoy seeing his photos and videos and thank God for the wonderful times you shared with your best friend Jack!

He definitely waited for you to get home from work to say his farewells, just shows what a dedicated friend he was. Cut my teeth on a HW35, first decent rifle I ever had after saving a seasons worth of beaters money to buy it (£55) wish I still had it to be honest, built to last that's for sure! ;)

Ah shit, sorry to hear about Jack, I was only thinking about him the other day. I remember you training him as a youngster down at the bottom of the field, all those hours paid off for sure. I used to walk down with my two terriers Scamp n Belle both still plodding on at 16 & 17 years old. It's the best bond a human can have I'm 100% sure. Condolences Simon...RIP Jack.

My wife and I have rescued and homed dogs from shelters for 36yrs and as each and everyone passes it never gets any easier. dogs are just the most wonderful companions. It’s enough to put a lump in anyone’s throat hearing the loss of your best pal Simon and I know I’ve had plenty over the years and there’s always one which will stand out from the rest and in my case it was Tilly. Again another black lab I lost three years ago who I could have sold over and over again, even to an American gun who was over here shooting grouse but you know when you have something special like you did with your Jack a bond that can’t be broken and I think he did wait for you, it’s weird how they hold on for that last goodbye. Rest easy old lad you’ve earned it fella.

Nothing I can say as others have said it, and like most on here I've had to go through the pain and grief of loosing them. For us they are are a friend for 14 of 15 years, but to them we are a whole life companion. His whole life was you and you could see in your videos the bond you two had. He is free now, where ever he, is and what ever you believe.

Hi Simon, Thank you for your video, though I am so saddened to learn about Jack. As you filmed at the end of the footage, Jack knew he was loved. All we can do is do our best for them while they're here and with us. I'm sure, without doubt, Jack won't have any regrets. My parents didn't want a dog when I was growing up, so I was lucky enough to look after next doors dog. They were kind, amazing people. That was in the eighties, and I still think of those times often, today. They had two Alsations. The second, obviously, the more recent is the one I think of most, as we were older and could do more with her. I absolutely adored her, and she knew she was loved. I have her picture by my telly and often think of her instead of watching the telly. I also have her photo on my phone screen saver, so I see her every day, even after all these years. So sorry mate its horrible when your best mate passes, Jack was a real character and will be bery much missed by all of us. Maybe in a few months time you could put out a Jack Special vid as a tribute to a dog we all took to heart too.
Simon truly sorry that Jack has passed away. I know every feeling that you are going through as my dog of 17 years when she passed away. It will take quite some time for you to settle. But you treated Jack as a human a member of the family and the good memories will always be there. Now Jack is resting and no longer sore. Thoughts are with you Simon.
