What happened to KZ? Did they fire the tuner who did the castor and rhapsody? The measurements for these "hi-res" versions looks absurdly bright. Great review regardless 👍
Your preliminary graph on squiglink isn't wrong. Vortex's measurements are very similar. Maybe KZ should disable a couple of the BAs for a tamer upper midrange. They know how to do this!
Occasionally I try to get closer to KZ's graph if possible. Sometimes its just switching tips, foam or silicone. And then there are other sets that do not cooperate or KZ marketing didn't get the axis labels right.
AS24 uses tubes as well, AS16 Pro's are the one's with the ports... Sounds similar to what they did withAS16 Pro X, which I think was another missed opportunity. I'll have to experiment with EQ'ing my AS16 Pro X at some point though, as I'm sure it should be able to get similar results to what you're describing with the after party!! Especially as it's mostly the same drivers...
Right, I think we have a small group of sets using the same nice BAs. Just a matter of the stock tuning and goal for the set. If you EQ, it should be close.
Anyone else feel like we kinda hit a peak in IEMs lately, in that everything is some variation of a bass harman or v harman tuning? Everyones competing for like IEMs in the $20-150 space all w/ similar levels of technicalities. Theres def potential thats untapped still, but it doesnt feel like theres any significant advancements made anymore after the advent of Harman-esque tonal responses. Even the $300-1200 IEMs are some Harman variation these days~ Feels like nobody is chasing the technicalities of the massive Z1R / Andromeda / U12T soundstage anymore, and super nothing interesting has come out to the market in like a while now... Nobody has pumped out a neutral IEM since like the original Moondrop Chu either, and Chu 2 is basically just harman now.
I think it started last year with the 1DD, those saturated the low end, this year was around the $200-400 range. Just a lot of ok sets landed in that range, but didn't offer much improvement. Similar to the 1DD, you saturate a market with so many sets without much differentiation. Each new set was the best ever., the new king.
AS10P is really close, yeah, KZ has used switch 4 for lowering treble 1 step. That is what these need. But Hydro is still more flexible with the range on the switches and more resolving and 2DD. I talked a bit about this in the Hydro review, AS10P design is the previous design, Hydro is all new 3D printed, lots of tubes. That helped alot on Hydro and why it is worth the extra money if you want the best, something that resembles more expensive sets. If you just want a nice set to enjoy, the AS10P or most KZ sets hit that mark. They are great value sets but I will admit that Hydro is a bit of an outlier for its price.
Hydro doesn't fit me but I have small ears, I think they could do it a bit better though smaller shell and a tad smoother.I wonder why they don t make more relaxed pinna gain sets Libra balanced is nice.In my opinion they need a new refined AS24 with less big shell

Good on you for taking it for the team, the ups and downs of iems....
In the bigger picture, this one wasn't too much of a sacrifice as the EQ works well. Symphony, Vader hires were more difficult to enjoy

I almost said the same thing. I think the other team is still around but there is clearly a tuner or team who prefer these bright hires styles.

Are the Hydros twice as good as these? And would these be ranked higher if they had switches?

I keep mentioning the large shell when they use it but it is very hard to know if it will fit or not.
@@PaulWasabii yeah I I know..I took the risk , I lost that's the way it goes 😞
I think they forgot to put the switches.
Right. That plate/board placement is a new thing, appeared on another set. The shell had the markings, but just the same KZ logo/back of the board
Is this treble is higher than cca trio or zvx? Or this treble sting your ears?
Yeah, if you are concerned about treble sensitivities, AS10 Pro might not be for you
@@PaulWasabii so is this sting too much? More than ea500..?
@@PaulWasabii does -s, -sh pronounce sting your ears?
