I was in love with a boy in highschool but could never leave his friend-zone, and though we were close, a few years after graduation we drifted apart and aren't keeping in touch anymore. But to this day I use the chocolate chip cookie recipe he gave me some 15 years ago 🥰
I'm 42, and I totally remember Lisa Frank everything!!! Thanks for the shirt idea...already hit up the website. lol So in 6th-8th grade we all just folded these 'love letters' using some kind of origami ninja skillz that looked like an envelope. In it were the most romantic words written : Do you like me? Yes? or No? with a box or line in front of them for checking off. And of course your friend either gave the note to the person you crushed on or you flicked it at them during class.
I'm old enough that I had a Trapper Keeper AND bought Lisa Frank stickers/spiral notebooks for school! I think I might still have some stickers of hers! lol
Hi Joshua and team! My wife and I watch all your videos here in Brazil! We didn't miss one! Whenever there's a line like "Viewer Comments" or "Snow!" we always say it at the same time, it's a lot of fun! Always continue with the videos, you are an excellent professional! A big hug for you guys! :D :D :D
I absolutely love your videos, whenever I'm a bit down your positive energy and funny remarks always lift me up. I already love it on "Man about cake" that you would talk with the people in the background, it kinda makes everything more enjoyable! I really liked how natural you where even live in front of people, because that's one aspect of why I love this channel so much❤ Thank you for doing this! I mean it😊
I’ve watched every one of your MAC videos and I love your work, I’m so glad I found you over here! I’m active duty Military and I love baking, but don’t have time to actually go to pastry School. So my “education” comes from watching your UA-cam and just going for it. I enjoy how you show how you make certain decorations for your cakes, I’m slowly working myself up to doing one of your designs hopefully mines turn out half as good as yours. Keep up the good work, love you videos.
My first boyfriend bought me a fake light up rose at the skating rink & they come with a little card which he wrote "will you go out with me" on the inside. We didn't go out very long because we were 13 & long distance but my little sister married his cousin who lived down the rd from us. We were new kids to the area so he walked home with us their first day of kindergarten & he told our oldest sister he was going to marry Lindsey someday. 18 years later they got married & now they have 3 kinds & just had their 15 yr wedding anniversary.
Omg this is so sweet I'm so glad they are happy and have there own little family it's amazing finding true love I wish them another 15yrs+ of happiness and love
I'm in New Zealand and when I was a little kid in Standard 3 (I think that's maybe 4th grade in US money?) the pinnacle of boy-girl romantic relations was to get someone to swap one of their little school photos with you (every year you'd get a class photo and an individual portrait taken and if your parents bought copies they'd throw in a strip of four little passport-size versions of the individual portrait with the order). I managed to get the most gorgeous boy in class to swap pics with me and I was walking on air on for weeks. We didn't hang out or talk to each other - are you kidding me, boy germs, am I right? - but it was still a peak achievement 🥰😎💘
When I was around 8 my ‘boyfriend’ went from Scotland to Florida and one night he phoned me. This was in the days before mobiles and phones were still attached to walls. It was the sweetest thing ever 😊
I love what you said about liking to show improv bits so people can see that it’s a process and can turn out differently to what you planned. It’s really reassuring and goes to show it’s a creative process we can all enjoy 😊
I was 9 and it was a Friday because my friends and I always went to the skating rink on Fridays and there was this older boy there (middle schoolish) and he was the best skater all the girls drooled over him and he used to sake with me all the time. I was in love. Especially when he took his shirt off. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I can't believe it took me a year to find that you guys have ur own channel! 💖 I was a MAC sub, and was super sad when it ended. Congrats on starting ur own show! 🎂🔪 Also, this cake reminds me of the photoshoot Paper Magazine did with Lisa Frank and BTS, with the galaxy background and flying food! 💜💜
Cute middle school crush story: He runs up to me with a hap-hazardly folded note, just as the recess-end bell rings. Then he runs away. The note was so sweet, and still gives me feels when I read it.
Retro dating memory: in 11th grade, I was a legend because I dated an "older" guy (he was 19) who had heavy metal long hair and looked like the singer Sebastian Bach (90s version). He liked when I would wear Maybelline Bubble Gum lip gloss. I loved that stuff.
When I was in kindergarten I got married. We planned everything with the help of my best friend still to this day. We got everyone to wear simi nice clothes and even had a dress rehearsal the day before. Also instead of holy matrimony we said holy mattress money 😂 we did something called the q and u wedding that same day though and the person who I had just married was the q and another girl in my class was the u. I was very mad lol. sadly he left the next year and I haven’t seen him since. Also love this cake really cool
I know I’m aging myself but I looooooved ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜Lisa frank stickers ,folders ,binders, notepads you name it when I was in junior high🦄 on a different note will you make a flamingo🦩 cake it would make my heart sing 🎶🎵🎶 keep up the good work I hope you make 1 million subscribers because I really want to see that tattoo
He would have millions if he was still able to be on the other channel, Man About Cake, but such is life. Just keep commenting, liking and sharing his videos and you'll see his sub count go up every week, I promise! Also, tell anyone you can on MAC's channel about this channel.
When I was in preschool (circa. 1985) I wound up being the only girl in a class of about 20 kids. The tables we sat at were curved so they formed an almost perfect circle. This is only important so I can explain the rest which is that many of the boys in my class wanted me to sit by them so the teacher decided that I would sit between two boys for a week then I would move over one seat and do this every Monday so all of the boys had a chance to sit by me. My class picture is amazing, BTW. Fun tidbit: there was a kid who wouldn’t/couldn’t speak at all. The Monday I sat by him he said his first words Lily my girlfriend. Apparently the two weeks I sat by him he really started talking and when the day came that I moved over again he said “Lily no my girlfriend”. Fortunately once he started talking he continued to improve. His mom loved me and I didn’t know why until I was older and my mom explained it to me.
Such fun a live audience!! 🥰🥰. Hope to see you live one day….after this Covid business has been eradicated. Love the vibrancy of this cake with all the fun elements 👍. And sadly here in 🇨🇦 where I am, no bakery, or a Costco type store will sell buckets of buttercream. Can be purchased at cake supply, but it ain’t cheap.
I was 13. . I was at the all girls school and he was all boys school. We would meet weekends cause we went to school on Saturday mornings. . I’d get my older friends to buy cheap cider and we would meet up at the park and drink little bits like grown ups but also eat fruit salad pic and mix sweets while listening to hits of the 80s on our Sony Walkmans.
HE'S GONNA GET A SKELLIE CLARKSON TRAMP STAMP! LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN, Y'ALL! As for my memory, I didn't have a bf/gf, I was too scared to ask anyone out.

OMG! Lisa Frank!! Such nostalgia! My story: Had a boy in junior high (what it was called then) "ask me out" (like to be bf/gf) and then we never even touched each other. Still don't know if we ever broke up.
Years ago, when I was in 5th grade, I had a boyfriend and it was pretty serious *insert sarcasm here* well, it was valentine's day and I got him a Bart Simpson butterfinger, only to learn that he hated butterfinger!! You could say, that's where the trouble started lol. But his gift to me, was much more sad!! He gave me this cute, heart-shaped pocket watch, that I found out, he got from his older sister, who got it from her ex-boyfriend, for the same valentine's day!! 🤣🤣
My boyfriend in 5th grade was very much a nerd and we played chess in high school. We went to a Valentine's day dance and he gave me a potted plant and a Valentine's day stuffed elephant.
Thinking about school relationships reminds me of sitting and waiting for them to sign in onto msn messenger after school...it wasn't official unless your screen name had their initials and a heart!
I had a crush on a boy in junior high and got him an ID bracelet with his name engraved on it. He said, “ Thanks.” That was it. Many, MANY years later I became friends with a woman from my high school who had graduated a few years ahead of me, on Facebook. She was talking about her sister marrying a guy and told me his name. It was the same guy I’d given the bracelet to 35 years earlier! We hadn’t gone to hs together and I never saw him again after 8th grade. Very freaky. She had actually purchased some of my artwork for their mom, and he had seen it. So weird.
Love this cake! Love all your videos Joshua!! When I was 8 my first boyfriend went in for a kiss. I turned my head and it resulted in my first black eye!
My first boyfriend was in 6th grade and he asked if I wanted to go steady. I heard study and told him I had to ask my mom. We "dated" for like 2 months meaning we held hands at recess. I just remember being mad because my friend had her hand held before me, lol.
In grade school, I rode number 18 school bus. This cute guy also rode that bus and liked me. He walked to my house one day with a black snake on a string for me. We did not grow up to get married. lol🐍
I have a random question: why do you sometimes cover the whole cake in fondant and sometimes do the panel approach? Is there a benefit to using one over the other in certain situations?
Lol, when I was in middle school, my best friend and our other best friend both told me during lunch that they both had crushes on me. I had to tell them both that I only liked one of them XD
I was so sad I heard about this event the week before it happened, and I couldn't get off work! I truly wanted to come see you and Liz from Sugar Geek Show! Also, when are some tee's going to be on the site? I *need* one.
I didn't LIKE LIKE this guy until after junior high, but prior to that, we went to dances together as friends. He liked me our entire elementary, Jr High and high school years. He once bought me a 14k gold necklace. Even his mom was jealous LOL
In the second grade I “married” my “boyfriend” that I met in preschool. By married I mean, one day he gave me a plastic ring and promised to love me forever but, he said that he had to go home to his mom after school and I told him I that had to go to my home to live with my mom. We never saw each other outside of school and when I went to 3rd grade I never saw him again.
Nostalgic dating stories. I had a BF in grade 4. We would pass notes but never actually talk to each other. Never. Ever. In a small school of 120 kids. He gave me a small beanie babie platypus which I still have, I'm 32, and my 2 year old son is obsessed with it.
I was in love with a boy in highschool but could never leave his friend-zone, and though we were close, a few years after graduation we drifted apart and aren't keeping in touch anymore. But to this day I use the chocolate chip cookie recipe he gave me some 15 years ago 🥰

We have Tee’s under the Shop button on the website or the “store” button on YT. I love Liz, she’s my buddy!!
How do you transport your assembled cakes from your work to a venue?
Nostalgic dating stories. I had a BF in grade 4. We would pass notes but never actually talk to each other. Never. Ever. In a small school of 120 kids.
He gave me a small beanie babie platypus which I still have, I'm 32, and my 2 year old son is obsessed with it.
