Just got to the point of being a "Senior Software Engineer"!!! Yay!! Go me!! $$$... No, what it really means is that I am the mentor and guide to the Juniors. I serve them. They do not serve me. We all have to respect each other, but the relationship is not equal. I have more responsibility to them than they have to me. But that's ok; that's the real "old-school hacker ethic". Loyalty, respect, and trust must be inspired, it can never be demanded. If you must demand it, you've already lost. If I wanted to play that game, I should have chosen a different career.
Software Engineers produce code that is valuable to customers. Everybody between the CEO and the Software Engineers is there to support them with everything they need to do it.
15:22 - Vacuum tubes were actually reliable if you left them running. The reason they blew was due to power-cycling. If you kept the machine running there was no reason not to use thousands of them, as Tommy Flowers proved by usage in the British telephone system of the day.
'This talk is about Agile' Well I'm 30 minutes in and I had a, admittedly pretty interesting, history lesson but not a single word on the subject of agile development.
who is running the dam camera, not showing the example he is talking about on the screen instead of following him around WTF. What did she say that google would fire you for? WE all like free expressive of speech. With estimates, I would go with how Scottie in Star Trek dealt with it. ALLWAYS OVER ESTIMATE THE TIME AND EFFORT IT WILL TAKE so that when you finish early and under budget you will be proclaimed a miracle worker. LOL
If programming is obsoleted by AI all other formal forms of information processing/manipulation would also be automated. All accounting, forecasting, logistics, law, driving.
I point to the moon and the fool is looking at my finger , camera man ;)
Enter the Dragon
28:10 Well, as an embedded systems engineer, We still do care about each cycle and whether our program is going to fit into the memory. :D
What is the camera man doing ....
exactly
18:44 In 1989 I did do a course on programming the 8085, and we used binary.

Why would you not cut to the screen where he's drawing??
What was the audience question at 1:21:09 ?
It`s a very interesting lection! 13:05 The relay made in USSR))))
Would've been nice to have seen WHAT was being drawn, it wouldn't have cost much for the cameraperson to zoom out.
The future of Agile will be what is Agile?

😁
I don't think you could provide three numbers during sprint planning.
Agile is an adjective
and will be a verb
Always overestimate.

Plankalkül
Executing code in one's own head seems to be a lost skill. The young guys say idiotic things like, "Let's run it and see what it does."
Why does he begin with an irrelevant subject always?
i think its a camerawoman
Programming won't be a thing in a few years, once AI can create code for itself. Good to know for now, though ;)
@Vendicar Kahn The tech is now cheap enough, and our understanding and adoption of it, much greater. :)
it won't ever be there
