The final conclusion sounds promising. My drop shots always sucked. I am rather hitting big than nicely, just like you did. But I started to just bounce the ball on my new racquets during the winter season (Germany, too cold) and start to improve a little.
Only Carlitos has this kind of a cannon ball of a fh to force opponents way back to the baseline, before he executes the drop shot as well as he does it at just 19 years of age. Novak? He's just a boring baseline grinder turning 36 this year...
7:50 one can see that Carlos is actually NOT using continental grip but rather an eastern grip. I saw a slow motion video where one can see this, his flip is not complete to continental but partway.
Great video! I use eastern grip forehand exactly because I got used to dropshot without having to change my grip. So it's very easy to hide my move. I'm wondering if I should train my dropshot with continental grip, could you give me your advice plz? Thanks a lot!
The key to Alcaraz dropshot is being able to land the drop very short, very close to the net. The average spot his drops land he will win the point 85-90% of the time. He is just able to to it constantly and that makes it so deadly.
Here's difference underpin has a little backspin but back spin has a whole lot of back spin so as to make ball reverse it forward course when it touches ground and come back in your direction. It be easier to demo with a basketball. We've all done it to tease little kids. You throw it to them while simultaneously turning the ball in reverse and tell them to catch it but the second it hits the ground it turns back to you with reverse spin and you say to the kid what's wrong can't you catch?
Il it wrong to change my racket position to a cotinental grip with my other arm? I always use my right arm to lightly hold my racquet when hitting forehand (I'm lefty) so i find easier to change grip with that right arm instead doing it with one hand
Number 1 forehand error at the rec level

My comment was heard! Thanks for posting this Nick you're the man 🎾😎
Amazing lesson Nic !
Very complete lesson and in a very clear and simple way which is always ideal.

Thank you Nick 👍🏻❤️🎾
I think something is missing because I watched the entire video and still didn't get ATP ranking number 1.

Great tip for the wall. Many thanks.

@@IntuitiveTenniswhat white racquet are you using
Thx❤
step1: crush the fuz off of the ball with thundering FH's until opponent is back to the fence. step2: hit the dropper
Thanks coach!

Continental is optimal grip for dropper
thanks!
Thanks for the video! But I think Alcaraz is not changing his grip when he use a dropshot. And a lot of experts say so. What's your opinion?
Thank you ❤
Have you noticed when Alcaraz does his forehand drop shot, he uses something close to an Eastern forehand grip instead of Continental?

You mention (0:46) 'underspin' and (0:51) 'backspin'. What's the difference?

As I observe the modern forehand drop shot, the beauty of it is that the semi western grip will stay, players do not shift to continental grips
Hi, Nick. What’s the best position on the court to anticipate opponents move returning dropshot?

Watching this video makes me want to become a tennis ball. They get all the attention, and they don't even have to do anything! 🎾😅
I am first! Great lesson Nick! 👍

The proof is in the pudding. I'm a lefty as well. How effective r yr drops when u change w one or two hands.
I wish you hadn’t have done this video…every old man hack at the club thinks they’re ‘Alcatraz’ now with that damm shot…and it’s ALL they hit! 🙄
There is a disclaimer at the end of the video 💯🔥😂
@@IntuitiveTennis i couldn't bare to watch it to the end, but now I'll have to see that disclaimer 😀
When it comes to feel on the dropshot, my forehand is much better.
Video summary: hit high to low
3:10
Are there players that don't switch their grips and hit the dropshot with their forehand grip?
Not that I know of
Drop Shot: Because smashing the ball straight into the net is just too mainstream. Let's aim for new lows, people! 🤷♂️🎾
Alcatraz absolutely amazing. But it’s the most disappointing shot in tennis for watching.
No big deal about Alcaraz drop shot he uses it to get out of battling like men do.
