Ok Interesting. I found it quite entertaining, watching all the mods to save weight so you could load it up. I rode up to Tuk back in June. I timed my trip to be on or near the Arctic Circle on the 21st. Got to Tuk a couple of days later Had a coffee turned around and rode home via Alaska. Hope you enjoyed your ride. Mine was amazing.

I'm a fan of Shinko 705 tires, they're good on road, good enough on gravel most of the time. You're right about not having many choices for 17" wheels. Great job fabricating all the mounts 👍

Great bike build! FYI Motoz does make the Tractionator GPS in a 120/170-17 tire (front). Maybe they didn't have it when you did this trip. I am assuming you are running the tractionator GPS in tire size 150/70-17 for the rear. I have been doing a bit of tire research for my NC when I do my own trip to the north... Cheers!
@@thudtheace thanks! Well, that would certainly be handy to not have to change out the front tire. I would imagine it’s not as aggressive as the TKC 80 but I’m not 100% convinced that it’s necessary. Especially if it’s not really wet. The Shinko 705 probably would’ve been fine. I wish you all the best on your NC 👍🏻

Love the channel…really made this bike pop….making some ok weight savings 🤔 well, except those grab handles, by the time you fabricated using the steel bar…I’m thinking that one may of been Even Steven…moving away form OEM exhaust, pending the bike size is always good for 8-12lb savings 😃 I really love the turn signal idea as they’re always usually the 1st to go 🤣…the hidden gas storage was icing in the cake…brilliant I know this maybe a personal question…but what is your height/weight….I currently have 2024 Road Glide LTD and been used to the big baggers ….having said that was thinking of picking up an Adv Ride…looking at the Kaw but 650 thinking too small….Looking at Triumph Tiger 1200 I’m 6’2” 230lbs

That’s a really good question. I think it would’ve been OK but the TKC 80 was definitely better. I’m pretty confident I could’ve done it on the 705 but I’d probably have to be more careful. thanks for watching!

Thanks so much! I’m honestly not sure about the factory luggage. I’ve never looked closely at the way they mount to the bike. I’ve always thought it’s cool how they latch on without a bunch of bars going everywhere. I suppose worst case scenario, you could wrap a ratchet strap around them to hold them on. I had to do that with a KTM I had in the past. Either way, safe travels and thanks for watching and commenting!
Yeah, that seems to be a weak link on a lot of bikes. Especially when they’re overloaded… The Versys subframe seems somewhat stout, and I really try not to overload. Definitely something to keep in mind. Thanks for the comment!

My boss has almost 60K miles on his 2016 Versys 650 with no issues, just the usual service intervals. He has to commute 140 miles a day..

They make a Tractionator RallZ for that bike? I use one in my 500x and they last quite a long time. And very aggressive lug.

From past experience with a KLR650 something tells me your rear sub frame is going to be your weak point.
