Billy Corgan is an Honorary Metal God \m/.... Incredible Musician on every level... It's Great to hear Tony playing with so many Great Musicians... These are well crafted songs...
the riff on 2:45 is very similar to the main riff on "Don't You Tell Me" of the 1996 DEP Sessions, probably at that time he didn't think he was going to release these recordings, although they probably should have already been leaked as "Eighth Star"
The story goes that the entire song was basically written and recorded by Billy Corgan. The tapes were sent to Tony iommi who overdubbed a couple guitar solos on it. Billy supposedly wrote for the SP album Machina and it was originally titled Firewall. In the Smashing Pumpkins fan community, there's a recording in circulation of Billy's original version without Iommi's overdubs. People claim that version is actually better than the version on the Iommi album, but I haven't heard it myself. Could be they are biased Corgan fans. Furthermore, I just listened to "Don't you tell me" and agree it is too similar to that riff for it to not be Iommi's. I'm very fascinated by this song and want to learn the real story behind it. Also, in an interview Iommi said that he actually wrote *three* songs with Billy Corgan but they had to pick only one.
@@kamenanew9867 Reminds me a bit of the end of Thru The Eyes Of Ruby by the Smashing Pumpkins. Also the second half of their song Soma. Some other bits and pieces, I think this part was definitely written by Corgan.
@@michaelkeudel8770 h can kinda consider his couple albums similar to tony solo albums just with a single singer. I dunno something about collaboration with other great talents just tends to bring out spectacular work from guitarists. Slash did it once and it rules, Santana made a whole thing out of it and it's mostly great. And this was tony's only time doing that I agree it's a monster. I feel like we should get the other songs he did with these guys cmooooon it's nearly 2025 sex our ears already toni!!
You can really hear how much of Billy’s vocal style is informed by Ozzy when he sings over an Iommi riff 🤘
your aquity to discern this is mighty sir much appreciation
okay, i've seen enough. patterns was my introduction to this album. dear god i'm buying this on cd as soon as i can
Probably the best Billy Corgan solo song from outside The Smashing Pumpkins.

Best track on the record by a mile. Actually, the only one that I still remember after not having played this record in years and years.
The end gives me goosebumps even after 22 years.
This literally sounds like an earlier Ozzy singing.
That guitar solo at the end is simply fantastic!
This is by far the best song so far.
ever.
This is pretty cool 2 🎸 God's I like it.
last 6 mins are something special
Awesome 👽
Billy doing his best Ozzy imitation, the drums ang guitar are so great

@kamenanew9867 I liked the 8th Star demos better than the official release also. Would really love to see Tony do at least one more solo release.
