Dark Souls was a landmark game that still is infamous for it's difficulty and ruining the lives of game journalists. Thankfully I'm not a game journalist I'm just some random idiot.
If you're a beginner to the franchise or came off Elden Ring to Dark Souls, there's a lot to learn. This guide will help you have the strongest start possible in Dark Souls (Remastered or otherwise)!

I thought the Zweihander was the LEGENDARY fast track to being OP, but this build looks pretty good.
Honestly you should have put “Elden Ring Players” instead of “beginners” in the title for the all-powerful algorithm, lol.
Tip for necromancer use your left over bombs on him
Running back to the shrine from the area with the scythe is the hardest part
Havent tried it yet, but cant you use homeward bones?
@@olsonswede2568 yea probably. I just ran out and had to do it the hard way 😂
Nice! Was waiting for the next in this series! :)
As a Elden Ring fan who just recently got dark souls, I wanna say this is a really helpful guide! It explains how dark souls works in comparison to Elden ring very well!
Glad I could help!
Awesome vid Nat thanks. I've almost finished demon's souls then I'll give this a go... Please keep Up the souls games vids absolutely love them ..
Hi, I'm currently going for a plat run. If I just go to the catacombs and pull the lever to get the scythe, will this effect any npc questline at all?
If I want a strength run I'll go for BKH (much easier to get) or BKGA with the help of paladin leeroy.
I’m stuck at the giant knight with the mace blocking the elevator shortcut I feel like I’m completely missing how to play the game
I’ve literally alr died 20 times just trying to get past the first bridge otw to the scythe
Pharis fell off the cliff while i was fighting her and her stuff was down there too. I almost freaked out, but exited out and when i came back her stuff was sitting where she had been
Alternatively if you do want to use Magic then you could just pick the Sorcerer class to begin the game and be OP from the very start of the game without having to do any work except making a quick visit to Rickert for some more soul arrows 😂
“I used a guide for my first playthrough” type logic lol
@@TheFloodFourmright? Lol
The alt version of the scythe build is to grab the Great Scythe, head down into the Skele Blacksmiths area (grabbing the green titanite chunk along the way) and go kill Pinwheel. With those souls you can buy enough shards to get the Scythe to +5, then use the green chunk to make it a fire scythe. The end goal of this build is to get the Chaos Enchanted Scythe.
Big up Nathan!! DS is a game everyone needs to experience.. wish they polished the last 1/4 of the game
Yeah the second half gets a bit wack.
In your video you don't have an army of skeletons that follow you into the necromancers room when on your way to the bonfire in the catacombs. Every time I run down into the room with the necro, even if I sprint through the whole catacombs part, I have a bunch of skeleton warriors that follow me in there and backstab me while I'm trying to fight the necro...
I can hit the necro a bunch with the spear and I would be able to slowly bring his health down but I can't do it with 1 or more skeleton warriors on me at the same time.
Lol i have the same problem right now
@@Zatba I just used fire bombs on him while dodging him and skeleton. Idk how many swam you, but I only had 1 that was in the necromancers room, so it was manageable
I had time to kill the necro. I died to the army though 😂
@@Zatba Hello friend - I posted the original comment a year ago, I did however learn that if you run into the room and force quit, when you re-enter the game the skellies that chased you won't be there and you can solo the necro. Hope this helps anyone else looking at the comments!

Do I have to necessarily have to open that door with the 20k souls or can I just use them to level up instead !?
You absolutely want to open the door instead. You'll earn those 20k souls back in like 15 minutes on the other side and everything after that is straight profit.
I have to play some of these parts in slow speed 😂 you go so fast I can't trek where you're going 😂
Thanks for the build and video! Heard you say Dark Souls is a top 3 game for you. Would love a video of your favorites!
Thanks for the idea! I should do that sometime.
Not even close to best farming place in the game 🙃 good vid though. Also two kicks with knock brass man off the cliff to his death without aggroing him. Quit and reload game his ring will be in his spot
this is a great way to make a person hate this game
how come?
How do you not have skeletons attacking you when fighting the necromancer?
You can either knock them down or if you hug the left wall on your way into the cave where the necro is a lot of times they don't aggro.
@@ThreeMinuteGaming cool. Cheers
I fight black knight ASAP till I get either the sword or spear. Once I get either of those, I prioritize leveling up strength and dexterity till I can use them. I do, say gg.
If I don’t get either I go Zweihander because it breaks the poise of most enemies and bosses.
It terms of armor, I go for the silliest armor, because I don’t care for armor, but if I did care, I go to the forest to get the elite knight armor.
Rings, I get Havel’s ring (only if I have on elite knight armor) (back stab for easy win) and kill Laurtic (golden knight) for his ring (BTW you can kill him way easier by kicking him off the ledge behind where he’s sitting instead of fighting. If you lose to him, he kills the firekeeper and are then required to complete his quest. Save the trouble of losing your bonfire)
Overall, I think this is solid build for a beginner. Best piece of advice is don’t give up. You will not regret the experience that is Dark Souls1!
How do you not get chased by 6 skeletons on the way to necromancer lol happens to me everytime
I think a trick you can do is as soon as you reach the necromancers room, quit the game and load back, the skeletons should reset back, so then you can 1v1 the necromaner
