- Here are my thoughts on act 3, or episodes 7-9, of the Arcane (2021) Netflix Series. Tensions between two cities boil over as new inventions threaten revolution. In Piltover, Hextech democratizes magic, in Zaun, a drug transforms humans into monsters as Arcane brings some of League of Legends' famous champions to life. Honestly, this series blew my expectations away. I have never played league of legends, so I wasn’t expecting something as rich as this show is
My expectations were the complete opposite, but the end result was still the same. I came in with very VERY high expectations after consuming all the trailers and the Enemy music video, I was watching the live release, and I was fully on board the hype train. I was actually worried the show would "just" be good, not great, and that my anticipation would have ruined it for me.
And yet.... It blew my expectations away. Of course I have nitpicks and things I might have wanted a bit different, but it's honestly one of the few shows where I just can't find it in myself to complain about them. The show is just fucking fantastic.
And be blown away again if they make the series about the story of "icathian war" where it started everything ,this story is the one heimerdenger pointing out in the series where arcane magic almost destroys the whole civilization.
It's hard to summarize but here's a simple recap icathia a country under shurima empire rebels and use magic to create a portal called" the void" where home to the unspeakable horror creatures called "voidlings" to overthrow shurima ..this stories is where the origins of ascended(God) and darkin( Corrupted God) ..
Shurima gathered their finest warrior and turn them into a ascended by the power of sun disc and they human form is turned into similar into Egyptian gods where they appearance is a combination of man and animal. The ascended and the shuriman empire defeated the icathia who lose control of the void , after that the shurima are afraid of the powers of the ascended because they have no purpose to them at all because the war is over they betrayed them and kill most of them and 5 of the strongest of them are imprisoned

This story covers the lore of darkins a more powerful beings than the ascended search for the stories of aatrox, rhaast, varus and 2 more unnamed darkins

Season 2 was confirmed the same day act 3 released. So we won’t be waiting too long.
I like animated tv series abortus Harley cuinn ,I dont have HBO MAX,I watch youtube reaction videos. Queen gambit ,sex education is on netflix ,I dont have netflix,but I watch it online with titles free or watch youtuebe reaction to movies ,or rewiew to movies tv shows ..👍👍

I refused to get a netflix subscription until this show. I know the lore. The trailers looked awesome and I thought the series would be good. I did not expect it to be 1/10th as good as it has been.
Unlike Viktor and Jayce. Riot and Fortiche, in their quest for greatness, succeeded. I am mostly upset that none of the coworkers I have told about the show have watched it yet.
If it were up to me, this show would get all the rewards and accolades and views in the world. I have no idea how many times I've watched acts 1 & 2, I've watched act 3 twice already. (once with another youtubers commentary) I went to bed early just to wake up super early to watch. I've spent an insane amount of time watching youtubers reacting to the episodes. All in all, I've become obsessed.
Edit: and like my subscription to Hulu just to watch Rez Dogs, I will probably cancel my subscription to netflix until the show comes back. Though I doubt it, because I am sure I will rewatch Arcane many many times more.

I canceled Netflix 3 weeks before this premiered an just pirated it.
I think no one had really high expectations for this show, so when it came out with this level of polish it just blew everyone away.
I almost want them to call it quits, because I'm really nervous about them keeping up this insane level of quality on an accelerated time schedule and a higher budget
I think they already animated the continuation and only cut the season short to find out if it'll be worth it or not

Honestly, I felt this way going into Act 2-3 after seeing Act 1. Thinking they couldnt exceed themselves. Boy was I proven wrong. As much as I worry about them ruining it, at the same time I have all of the faith in them creating something that is even 70% as good as this was.

@@TrungTH1190 Most of the story was written years ago when League of Legends was made. every character has a lore. This show is just those lore made into a series
What's the highest award can this get? Oscar? Emma? This show deserves that
I'm usually fine with cliffhanger season finales, but if we have to wait another six years - as in OVER HALF A DECADE - for the next season, that might be a tall order.
Its highly unlikely, with them only taking that long due to COVID, and most of the assets and programs tested and ready, and honestly the attention and hype right now, i doubt itll take that long.
@@temutemacular or they purposely took so long as they're developing as much as they can before rolling it out. Rather than one season at a time. I'd like to hope at least.
The CEO of Riot back in 2019 said that they were committed to several seasons for Arcane, so it's unlikely that we'll have to wait THAT long.
Fortiche is a small studio. With the massive success of this series Riot might hire more people and expedite the production of the next season.
This the first attemp of making a movie/serie by Riot and plus there was Covid going around. From now on Im quite sure they will keep rapidly delivering us these masterpieces
Literally the best animated show I have ever watched in my 37 years of loving animation.
Honestly, I never would have clicked on this video if there had been more big channels talking about this show. I’m really glad that you were quick on reviewing this show because I’ve really enjoyed your insight throughout acts 1-3. The way that you articulate yourself feels like it simultaneously fleshes out what I was already thinking while also adding things I never thought about.
What's interesting is that, as a league of Legends player, I wish I knew nothing when I watched this season. Cause I know where some characters are going and what their relationship is meant to be. That's why some tensions fell flat for me. But still, I loved it, and on the other side, so much were teased in the last episode that can only speak to league players.
I think this ending will slowly take us to leave Piltover in season 2. New Noxus characters should be introduced (to take advantage of this mess), so maybe we will see how things are in this nation. And by the look of Sky's book, seems like she's from Ionia. Maybe this will lead to Ionian introduction. There are so many possible directions and more than 100 champions left to introduced. Arcane has a Marvel like potential here.

I agree, altho I know next to nothing about LOL lore, I DO know who are the characters, so I knew who had plot armor and who didnt. But honestly there were enough twists that it almost didnt matter.
i think its precisely why im so glad to have been league of legends player.
and a marvel like fall very few marvel movies are any good now however the world building potential for arcane is ridiculously exciting.
which for me is what put it on par with marvel in the early days now sadly marvel is too much of a formula.
@@liamsmith1490 can't agree more. I was in fact taking about building potential here. Marvel is quiet bland now, especially compared to what this season had to offer. But Arcane must stay in that adult/serious tone.

I like the story takes up after this with some amazing artist from R34 studios.

The last few episodes reminded me of GOT with how the show focused on different characters' POVs. Yet unlike GOT, I think every chatacter's story arcs were engaging til the end. Hoping for season 2

seeing Ekko and Heimerdinger working together felt so good for some reason
I honestly think the political decisions that had to be made, altho obvious at times, held more weight for that reason. We weren't left in the dark, or finding out in a twist what the weight of these decisions were to be. We knew from the get go, through experience and how they paralleled real life events, how impactful and dreadful at times these decisions were that needed to be made. I believe the almost "impending doom" of these "obvious" choices added a much needed weight to the spine of the story arc.
I agree, i cant picture any conclusive ending given the time frame. Where they left off was actually great because of that. We know where everyone is and will be, and the relationships have prob reached sorta a status quo from the game.
Season 2 will probably have to wait. This series looks like it took quite a while and many revists (from the rushed feeling we can conclude a lot of shifts in storyboard). So im giving 3 years min. Fortiache is a small company after all
As someone whos main Char in LoL was Jinx because I loved the character this series was between heartbreaking and "Yep typical Jinx".
Damn I didn't aspected the series to be that good. Yes the last arc felt rushed but showed enough to get the idea what it was about.
For me, best series I have seen in a long time. Also loved the artstyle.

As a league player i thought they change jinx appearance for the arcane series , man I was wrong, the last scenes is the true transformation of powder to jinx, I never see powder in her and that says something👏👏👏

i love your reviews!! for me personally what i would love to see in season two is more episodes that flesh out the characters and plot lines a bit more because i did feel that season 1 was a bit rushed in some aspects, had they maybe had 1-2 more episodes per act i think would’ve helped the season breathe a bit more but that’s really my only problem with season 1 and overall it’s a stunning piece of animation with compelling characters and a story full of heart! as it is riots/fortiche’s first ever show, there were some problems here and there but they absolutely nailed it 9.5/10 for season 1 for me and i seriously cannot wait for season 2!!!!!
I hope they expand upon the Demacia vs Noxus war and the land of the Freljord....and Yordles. More Yordles...all the Yordles (except Teemo)
This show is so crazy, this work is really excellent. It is worth everyone to watch. The motivation of each role is reasonable and the shaping of each role is just perfect

Jinx is maybe complete
So probably will be more to this if this is a success in their eyes, and by complete I mean the way they are in game

Singed is far from complete as he is tied to Warwick, noxus wars and personnels and him being melancholic about the thing he's holding during the end scene might lead to a retcon/reveal of the lore relating to another character.
@@bumenjoyer I mean singed should not wear that face cover before warwick injures him, but in arcane it was the fire that did it... so would not be suprised if they skipped that part for singed

To check this out. I was amazed by act 1 and 2. This series came out of nowhere and totally made me an instant fan
I'm expecting a comeback....if you've read the lore you must know, we also saw a bit in the last episode where silco's scientist was looking at his daughters picture.... I'm also very excited for the next season or another series released by them the world of runeterra(where all of this is happening) is such a big place and is full of stories full of characters even outer space and into the endless void....Demacia, Noxus, Targon, Ionia, Shadow Isles, Freljord, Shurima, Bilge Water, Bandle City, and Piltover and Zaun.....
I agree with you that it felt rushed at the end. I put on episode 9 thinking there is too much unresolved for this to be the finale. And sure enough it was giant cliffhangers all around. I think 1 more episode of just character development like with heimerdinger and Ekko, Silco and Vander's past, Mel's true motivations.
I wonder if the character rush - especially in the politics - was in part due to the three-act structure resolving as kind of three contained arcs, and they just didn't have time for it in the mini-story part 3 was telling as part of a greater whole. That was pretty much my criticism of 7-9 as well.
I think the only politic aspect that wasn't properly explored was the Noxian one that was introduced in this last act. Everything else was pretty clear, like obviously clear from what we already saw.
About the Noxian, rumors point out about a next season expliring that region, so that would be very intentional. Outside of that, anyone who knows Noxus from the game, has an idea about the intrigues that were presented.
@@acrabdevis Oh, I agree. I didn't think the lack of politics *detracted* from the show, it's just something I'd have liked to see a touch more of. It's pretty much the only place where I felt the show told, instead of showing, as we're frequently reminded that Jayce is the de-facto head, but we never get snippets of him flexing his muscles on other council members. I don't think it should've gone down a whole sideplot with it or something, but snippets of him talking to other council members than Mel would be nice. Say 5 minutes of screentime across the act just to show his clout.
It would be great if vi just went first to powder. Its the secong time she left without explaining jinx thinking she got abandon again
I would love to have Camille be the main villain for season 2, shes such a badass and carries herself with such dilogence and grace while being a cold killer in the shadows, she would be such a formidable threat for charaxters like ekko and jinx going forward

I just want to see how singed turns Vander into Warwick. I love Warwick.
The deepsea diving looking thing is an item from the game called a turbo chem tank.
I would have loved a little more of purple-eyed Jinx. Maybe an epic fight scene that ends with her blowing up the council and getting away. Really my only complaint. While the scenes we got of Jinx were fantastic, there weren't enough of them in act 3.
Ok, both the final episodes for Arcane and Hellbound were released yesterday. That's like 6 hours of content.. Not only have you watched them, you have reviewed them. What.The.Hell? As always, thank you. But seriously, i hope you take some time out once in a while. Have a good weekend

Jinx just took out the entire leadership of Piltover. Chaos/Anarchy will reign. And from the ashes will rise Heros and villains.
The stage is set for Legends.
The series vastly exceeded my expectations. I agree there could've been a few more episodes, but I wonder if there weren't budgetary constraints that limited that. Would Netflix have purchased a 13 episode season? And how much would that've cost? Plus, there's more seasons to come and the writers can flesh out the characters. Overall, I have no complaints. Honestly, they really went for it and it's refreshing to see, especially on Netflix which doesn't always have top tier programming. Moreover, I think this changes the game. Video game publishers have the money and the tech to do more stuff like this - but do they have the writers? The writing in this was amazing!!! I could go on forever but this series has been the biggest and best surprise all year.

agreed on Viktor arc, I dont know about yall but my man Viktor is the main character of Arcane
Viktor takes the top spot but followed closely by Silco damn his arc is to good, from not understanding what caused vander to abandon their goal, and solely devoting his life to unify the nation of Zaun to acknowledging how now he understood what vander felt and would choose jinx and give up his dream of the nation of Zaun. Im excited for season 2.

But like we all know Piltover and Zaun separation is inevitable whethe there is Silco or not, Zaun will always has this unique view on how the world works

The last song totally encapsulates the whole season... as an animated series, Arcane is perfection imo
So with Mel probably died and jayce having to watch that mel mom might go to war. And Viktor goes full cyborg to survive.
Snippets ep9: at 22:01 we see Vi’s Blast Shield skill. At 34:58 we see Jinx with her cannon named Fishbone and at 35:24 she used her ultimate called Super mega death rocket. At 36:12 we see Singed sitting and at the foreground a person/beast he is creating, that is Warwick and I have a feeling that was Vander base on the beard alone.
I need more Heimerdinger and Ekko. I need it.
They are both engineers, both very idealistic, but otherwise so different.
This is bar none the best series of the year. As a league player and knowing where these characters go from here, I think the ending could be left as is.
But for the show watchers, and we know a lot of you came on board due to how great this show is, they will need to take the story further.
As a gamer I'd like to see the studio explore other parts of this world and bring us new stories of characters I know and love from the game.
But as a show watcher I'd also like to see how far they can take this story from here.
So I am torn here.
The animation studio took 6 years to complete this project and to keep up this quality of animation I think they will need a similar amount of time to complete another season. Which means they will have to pick and choose. If they do another season of the Piltover/Zaun storyline then it's unlikely we will get to see other parts of Runeterra presented in this manner.
I hope the second season solidify Vi and Cait as a couple and not just strong allusion to it.
Don't know if anyone caught this detail but the bridge scene in act 3 when Jinx enters she's humming the same song she sang at the beginning of the show.

I’m ngl I didn’t like the show that much but that’s for my own personal expectations and bias. So I watch a lot of Netflix shows so if I get bored I tend to not pay attention as much bc I’ve seen so many diff concepts that it gets predictable. Which in this series, I’m ngl it happened. Also I’m a league player so for most of us (I’d assume) we’d be more interested in the league champions’ character arcs and screen time, which I was. I focused way more on watching the league champs but I hated the way some of them were so stereotypical, not rly explored to certain aspects, and had many scenes that were kinda random and I feel were solely there for a cool action sequence(which since it was so cool it’s excused). I think what rly influenced my thinking were the trailers though. (Also some lore Ik but that’s like one or two details) I came into the story with the expectation of the whole thing being circled around how jinx and vi, their character development, sisterhood, and the invention of hextech and how these two come across a villain etc. Idk but something more abt those two but they honestly felt like side characters. I think with that expectation I was super excited to meet the two, learn their story, and see their development. But vi doesn’t rly have any of that and she contradicts some of her actions which defined her motivations in the show. And with jinx I was SO excited to see her bc she had always been a favorite before I even started playing like 6 years ago. (I loved her character design and eccentric individuality) But her character was so boring, lowkey cringe at points and predictable. She wasn’t fully established as a person I could rly understand bc clearly she’d always had issues which definitely created hallucinative symptoms and psychosis which idk Ig I would’ve like to see them develop. Idk I felt as though she wasn’t rly fully looked into bc they’re r so many flashbacks shown after the first three episodes and or glitches Ig but it’s for a few seconds. She felt one dimensional is what I’m saying, like the whole “I’m just so crazy” has been seen so often in cinema that it gives off the “im so quirky” type vibe Ig? Her arc of when she fully becomes crazy felt anticlimactic too, and when the two sister met again. Since my initial expectation was abt their kind of ying and yang (by that I mean initially I expected vi would be a police officer from piltover after the guy took her and jinx would be a murderous prankster from zaun that terrorizes the ppl of piltover) relationship I’d thought it would have more build up to it. Their relationship was just not as convoluted as I’d like. My other problem with it were the random scenes. They might not necessarily be random bc keep in mind if it wasn’t interesting aka no league champ was on screen, i was not rly paying much attention, however there were a lot of characters introduced who hardly spoke or had any real purpose except for plot progression. Example, the council members, (who btw r literally just jayce and the black girl(sry I can’t remember names besides lol champs) the other council members talked, and there was a lil gossip abt them to give them more character but literally every decision made was unanimous to whatever the other two said (which was rly just the black girl) idk there were hardly no conflicting arguments and in a political establishment Ig I didn’t rly like that. Bc it’s just there to move the plot forward which made it feel so fast and graced over such a big deal. Another example would be the girl who liked Victor(he had great character, development, and motive btw which is what I wished for everyone) she had literally like two scenes, her being introduced/ hinting she liked victor, and her death scene, this was to show the book Ig but again another character added just to move the plot along. Personally I don’t like it when shows do that bc for these characters their impact was essential for the plot, but they’re, as established characters, are actually just so insignificant . Ig the main problem for me would just be abt the pacing though. Bc all of these factors could be easily fixed if they just had more room for more episodes which is why I wish it were maybe 12 instead of 9. This is why I rly enjoyed the first three episodes bc they were all pretty evenly paced well except for the last scene in episode 3 when they get split up that felt a lil fast. But everything before that was rly good. The whole thing felt rushed which would explain all my negative opinions but yea. Obviously the art and the music was AMAZING like the mix of 2D and 3D art and the beats that just slapped, omg it was breathtaking. Also applauds on the voice acting, so diverse, and lowkey v satisfying, like everyone had such a nice voice and crisp accents. This is all my opinion and I do wanna be fair abt it since I wasn’t as immersed as others might have been to truely take in the show but yea, that’s just how I felt abt it. Idk maybe if I rewatch it and actually focus on other aspects then I’d enjoy it more. That bridge scene with ekko and jinx was sick though
If Riot games makes a series for each city , you will blown away with how much stories and Lore there is , PILTOVER and Zaun are kind of important is the lore , but there is also , The Shadow Isles , Damacia , Ionia , Noxus , Shurima , Bilgwater , Freljord .... each of thews and more have their unique characters and amazing stories.
This was a 5 out of 5. I think dragging it out another 2-3 episodes might dilute a very tasty and unexpected masterpiece.

@@Necro_Hexual Yeah with jinx now the loose cannon with fish bones ekko needs his zero drive but I think he and heimer are gonna have a luke Skywalker and yoda moment to make the zero drive and I wonder if zilean will appear or a chronomancer. And I wonder who will win round 2. And strangely enough I could ship jinx and ekko now that silco is dead are they still enemies.
Imagine what viktor could do with ekko zero drive.

They are wrong for leaving off with the greatest cliffhanger ever... This is the most stylistic animation ever. It's what I could ever dream of as a story that keep building to many different directions of interesting storyline. It's surpasses my expectations and it's a solid 5 out of 5.

What happened to Jinx, just broke my heart.
I have never played LoL or know anything about the lore. But game adaptions is not really known for being good, though there are exceptions like the Castlevania series. So I did not have very high expectations going into it, but holy crap did it exceed my expectations. I think it is pretty much a perfect show, but that of course depends on how season 2 is, as the ending does not feel final. But overall I really don't have anything real to complain about, just an amazing ride from beginning to end. The writing, the characters, the actors and the insanly good visuals are all masterclass filmmaking. I can't give it anything but a 10/10, as I want more now!

I watched necrits review/theories a few days ago and I was like “this guy so wrong lol” when he said its shimmer that made jinx crazy/shimmer made her eyes pink. Boi was i wrong to laugh
she was PUMPED with that stuff more than any character
@@thetruestar6348 it was a different variant of shimmer though and it was potentially administered differently than just jugging it or having it be simply injected. So I'm not sure if it's fair to say it more than any other character (especially considered Warwick which was teased at the end).

@@KEI23675 ye, but i wish they show more/tease more of viktor transformation instead of ending it at, viktor being done with the hexcore. but i guess the transformation is still farther in the story line. i wonder how he will get the hexcore again when he already hates it.
I mean... Thats pretty much how research works. His transformation pacing makes sense.
If you look closely, Sky's research papers tease at stuff that Viktor is likely to use himself and there is a lot more to Viktor's story (if you read his official lore).
This is not a spoiler since you don't know what this means yet, but: Viktor's transformation will never end. Make of that what you will and look forward to his story in season 2!
The unfortunate thing about this series is that it's a lot better if you don't play the game or know anything about the world's lore. Many things are kinda set in stone and you know which characters are gonna wear that plot armour. It's still a love letter to people who play the game and an amazing story to see come to live, but it's a lot better if you know nothing about the game.
Every Arcane review i see this: reviewer describes 10 out of 10 experience but still giving 9/10 in the end. Stop lie to yourself ffs.
