Quality mate, I know next to nothing about fishing the swan & this is a super educational video well done & cheers for sharing. I feel like this should be the video that pops up when people search things like “ how to fish the swan “ etc etc 👍🏻✅🎣
thanks a lot mate, that's the best thing about fishing I reckon, someone like you who knows a lot about fishing still has pretty much a whole fishery to explore
Bang on. The seasons dictate and the most onto-it blokes capitalise on it. What a great appraisal of the Swan River from your angle. Alot of anglers in Perth fish one part of the river and nowhere else, usually due to proximity from home.
Great video mate. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge. The stuff you (as well as others like danga's tackle tips) produce has gone a long way to reconnecting me with a childhood hobby, so thanks 😊
that honestly means a lot mate! I started this channel mostly because I watch a lot of fishing on youtube as well, so it's nice to play my small part in the community :). Big fan of danga too!
Cracking guide mate! The Swan is definitely underrated. One thing I do love is the number of ways you can target each species. Land-based fishing and its methods are totally different to kayak fishing, which in turn is different from boat fishing. So many ways to catch fish! We do live in a wonderful place. Keep the vids coming!
absolutely mate, used to do some kayak fishing and it definitely opens up some doors, but still plenty of land based opportunities around! Good to see some more people finding your channel too. Would be great to see you give giant herring a try on the kayak in the coming months! Easier said than done of course haha
Great video hopefully encouraging others to get out in the fresh air and sample some of the brilliant fishing The Swan has to offer. Bayswater is a great place to take kids. Safe and full of black bream.
@@LightTackleAnglerWA Very windy haha! Got myself a nice little flatty too, I didn’t even think he knew he was hooked, felt like weed and then boom a fish haha! Still yet to get a bream but always good fun
@@yungbuddah7778 yeah mate keep it up. i got recognised a lot today so im not sure which one was you but assuming it was on heirrison island? definitely a very good place to go for your first bream, so much more consistent than further downstream
thanks brother! no worries, let me know if you have any questions and good luck with fishing. don't be disheartened if you're not catching fish the whole time... everyone has barren days or even barren weeks or months!
hi, I have been fishing for flathead in claremont area for the last couple of months and i have found that the fishing has been great in September and November but has been terrible in December. Do you know why? Is this also the case with your fishing lately? Also your vids are amazing!
thank you for this video! :D I love fishing so much and ive been trying to find some good spots around the swan river with different types of fish, and I am yet to go to garratt rd bridge as ive heard its a good spot. I like to experiment with different spots ee ✨
Awesome video mate, thank you very much especially to the us new to Perth..what location was the one where the sand whiting was caught if you don’t mind me asking?
Yes, the place is awesome for fishing, the como side of the bridge provides many bream and occasional flathead. I recommend using shrimp as bait, the fish bite early morning and late afternoon
@@lucky835seat8 haha mate all good. In terms of a rod, It's hard to go past the daiwa infeet range for value for money. there's a new one coming one in the next month or 2 . A cheaper option would be the atomic arrowz range which I used to use. The shimano nasci is a solid reel (also used to use) , but the shimano miravel is the same reel at a lighter weight pretty much. the daiwa freams is also great but they may have just been all put on clearance. I'd either with a shimano miravel paired with a daiwa infeet or a daiwa td black paired with a td hyper or atomic arrowz, should both equal roughly 400. remember that a lot of the daiwa rods are coming out with new versions in next few months.
a few around the lower reaches up to claremont, especially around jetties. have heard night time around the lights is good but they can be caught in the day too. worth bringing a suid jig if going to claremont jetty
hey mate, the como area is the one area I haven't really explored much, always kind of thought it was too hard to get to haha. Would definitely be some flathead on the flat there. Maybe try switching over to lure fishing if youre catching too many blowfish, or head upstream. Not many blowfish upstream of East Perth at all. Thanks for watching!
@@ZairECU hey mate, there are a lot of lures to use dependent on your situation, but some great soft plastics to use for flathead are 3" slim swimz, and the 2.5" grub is a good starter for bream and pretty much everything else in the river tbh. downstream there are a lot of blowfish so a double clutch is a good lure to use, scale the size according to the fish youre after, eg small ones , 48 or 60 for bream
have caught them everywhere between the Freo traffic bridge and Claremont yacht club. even saw one today in Nedlands. just fish structure downstream and you'll run into some :) thanks for watching! also there are some bigger ones around, especially during summer. bigger poppers around downstream structure and you've got a chance. Talk to the younger guys at AFW and they'll help put you onto a few if you're after the bigger models :)

thanks man- definitely takes some time to figure out the swan but its a much more productive and varied river than most anglers think
Awesome video! Cant wait to come to Perth and give the swan river a go!
Loving your work mate 👍🏻
Please keep them coming 🐟
thanks mate, will do. no vid this week because im extremely busy but after that they should be pumping!

Amazing video! Would these tips apply in the Canning river aswell? Thanks
for sure! probably no skippy or sambos though
Great video, I've just started with my 6 year old and we are starting to look for spots that arnt plagued with blowfish , so will try up more
definitely less blowfish upriver of East Perth! hope you guys got onto a few breambos!
Always look forward to new vids ❤🎉

hey mate, experimenting with spots in half the fun! Was never taught to fish so I got most of my spots from scouring google earth, great way to do it.

Thanks mate. Near Canning Bridge.
Have any luck near the Raffles hotel? There's a fishing platform there as well as the bridge

Would you say scent is always needed for soft plastics fishing in the swan
great video, thank you
thanks mate! glad you enjoyed it
hey bro love the video where was the jetty from the very last clip??
Thank you so much

What's the best set up to avoid blowies?
hey mate what do you record with
hey mate watched all vids about to purchase a light rod for the swan what line do you recommend- keep up the vids.

$400 if you cant be bothered all good @@LightTackleAnglerWA
