I need a drone to go shop for me at a humanless store so, I can have zero interactions with anybody and have an Ai live my life for me. Cryo-freeze me. I've become one of you. "Hoe accurate", like the comment above. Humans are the worst animals. Not that comment, just in general. So Amazon only shareholder profit motivated. Makes me ashamed to hold a large amount of AMZN stock. ;) Enjoy screwing humans. :)

They can hire them all back for security, since this will be a thief's paradise. Walk in without any Amazon app or even a phone, grab what you want, and just leave. They will need a lot of employees to stop people from doing it, since people will be more desperate due to not having that job they had (cashiering). This is a ironic joke. Amazon will make a mess out of the world, Jeff Bezos will just get richer while the world gets more poor. It is impossible to spend even 1 billion while living your life while buying everything on earth. Why not be a nice guy and actually cure world, while still having 50 times more money then you will ever need? He is a cancer, that will only hurt the world and how it has worked since the beginning of man. I bet someday he will be infamous around the likes of Hitler if he doesn't change his course. Yeh these stores/concepts have been around for decades. I've seen hundreds of people walk into grocery stores, pick up items and walk out without going to the checkout to pay for them. On some occasions I've seen these men in blue uniforms come over to assist them to their vehicle and offer them private transportation. I think some people get really excited at this and therefore the men in blue have to put handcuffs on them.
Once I saw a customer walk out with a burrito and a pack of Doritos and I saw one of these men in blue uniform offer the young man some tobasco/pepper sauce in spray form. I think he wanted to spice up the young man's burrito but he accidentally sprayed it all over the mans face instead.
And this one time, in Beverly Hills, I saw Winona Ryder walk out of a store with $5000 worth of clothing. That gal was way ahead of her time. Such a trendsetter. She certainly set the trend for Megan Fox and Brittany Spears.

My talking points: If you do go back in (you forgot an item), are you then charged for those same items you bought the first time? Does the guy at the door with the orange shirt body slam you if your phone was off (you attempt to leave without paying). Let's say you don't have a smart phone or it's broken. Are there regular places to check out? There are no Amazon Go locations near me, but they say 3,000 stores are coming, so there should be some soon.

    • @sefton999

Once you scan your phone you can turn it off. The technology does not use your phone after you have entered. It charges you when you take something off the shelf, so in theory you can bring stuff into the store and it won't double charge you.

Summary: The watermelon was equivalent to $80 for a whole watermelon.
The watermelon she picked up was $3 for 9 ounces. The average watermelon is 20 pounds, but you don't eat the outside, so lets say it is 15 pounds x 16 ounces per pound divided by 9 ounces is the number of packages x$3 , which is equal to $80 equivalent for a whole watermelon. But, you got to skip the checkout line so you are good.

This type of store will require you to have a Bank account with money + an Amazon account + Smartphone, while a traditional store just requires you to have pocket cash.
Personally, i think they are going to need to take a more Walmart-style approach, and allow the purchase of large amounts of groceries at discount prices, in order to justify the extra process and exclusivity.

With the advance of technology, there are going to be jobs that will just seize to exist. There were many jobs in the 20th century that don't exist anymore, like: milkmen, pinsetters, lamp lighters, switchboard operators, elevator operators, film projectionists, etc.
If large companies like Target or Walmart decide to follow the model that Amazon has built, there are plenty of other minimum wage jobs available for those searching. However, I don't actually think the occupation of being a cashier will die out anytime soon.

If a customer accidentally dropped a yogurt on the floor or a customer put back an item not in the same shelf will it still be removed from the app cart? And what if an item wasn't placed in the correct shelf and a customer grabbed it will it know to put the correct price/item in your app cart?

I cannot see this system working . I have worked in retail for many years . There are many people who are just not into technology . Even the people who do have the app what happens if they pick something up in the wrong place and walk out . They then will see the price after and complain . Does the app allow you to price check the items you are holding ? If not it’s going to cause many customers to complain . There’s always plenty of people that will claim they found an item under a cheaper price tag when that’s not true .
