Come for the chess puzzle stay for the chest puzzle.
awesome problem, at the very end when Ke5 was played so the rook on b8 "couldn't give more checks" I wondered what about Re8+, turns out that doesn't work because Ne7 would block the check and also is a discovered check, followed by Kb8 and Rb7+, since the knight is taking away the c8 square Ka8 is forced allowing discovered checkmate by moving the rook back on the b file
really interesting puzzle! I didn’t think I would watch all 12 minutes of this. Thank you for making these videos, they help a lot.
I saw that this video didn't show up on your "videos" tab in UA-cam, and I only found it because it showed up on a playlist. Can you make it so that you actually upload it as a video so you'll get more views and likes on it?
It's sponsored so I have to wait for approval before posting publicly! But thanks for mentioning it anyway! 👍
So.. the video was uploaded as private, but in the playlist, I'm assuming. Wouldn't that result in a "1 unavailable video is hidden" message when viewing the playlist?
@@dreamerofthorns If they were able to see the video in the playlist, it was probably uploaded as unlisted, rather than private. Pretty sure that privated videos are only able to be viewed by people who have been given access to it by the creator.

Chest A has gold because if it was in C or B there would be 2 correct messages in both scenarios
the answer of the three chests puzzle is obviously chest A, since the message on B and C are contradicted, one of them must be true, that means the message on chest A must be false
The problem is A and B are symmetric. The same can be argued about gold being in B. This chests puzzle paradoxical and didn't have a solution.
C can't be true, if C is true, both A and B are true. So, C is false. Now, if A is true B is false, and if B is true A is false, both options are available and we cannot eliminate either with the given info.
@@mehdimarashi1736 you cannot argue gold being in B by this method, because the message on B claims the gold is not in B, while the message on C claims the gold is in B. Since the gold cannot be in B and not in B at the same time, we know either must be true. And since we know there are only one true statement, that means the message on A (gold is not in A) must be false, therefore the gold must be in A
@@user-ej7sr3ow8b Ok, it seems I need new glasses. Do you know a good optometrist? I misread the message on C.
Great stuff. You explain so simply which I like.
0:37 the gold is in chest A because either chest B or C Is definitely a lie because they can’t both be right and it says there are two lies so the other is A and A says there is no gold in there meaning it lied and the gold is in chest A. Lol Great video keep it up👍🏻
The first thing I thought was that chests A and B couldn't simultaneously be false, so C must be a lie, making B the true one, A then lied, the gold was inside it all along (if I was him I'd say the gold was in B as well to confuse the treasure hunter, it gave itself away 😂)
Gold is in Chest A.
Chest A - Gold is not here - Lie
Chest B - Gold is not here - Truth
Chest C - Gold is in Chest B - Lie
Chest B is telling the truth
Chest A is lying, it has the gold
Chest C is lying, Chest A has the gold……not Chest B
I also came here to post that the gold is in chest A. 😆
Well presented; thank you for sharing.
How about this one of mine. Rc8+ d5 Nxd5 Rxc8 Nc7++ Kb8 Na6 mate. A beautiful mating pattern for all to see!
But after Rc8+, Black can play (b5)Rb7, then either B×Rb7+ K×Bb7, or R×Rb8+ K×Rb8, and either way the attack is finished. If you play Na6 first, then R×Rc8.
@@bradleywalker8642 Yes @2:05 he already explained about that Rbb7. In the conclusion, the attack is finished and you already mentioned in your comment. Thank you for that.
Great video, thanks! :)
I usually get right idea but not all other complications. This one I am thinking Rook to C7 check > b8 rook blocks leads to checkmate so other rook blocks > knight to a6 > Now black is in a zugzuwang moving the unpinned rook will lead to checkmate. If pawn move then that pawn can be simply captured. If bishop moves and gives up c7 then also a smothered mate. But pretty sure I missed some tricks there.
As usual missed the main fuckin line
This tricky win for white speaks for itself

Is this just a puzzle of from a real game? Looks insanely complicated, part of a test suite for chess engines! 🤣
Exactly, I wonder how long would it take for Magnus to analyze this situation, not easy to see all the traps ^_^
Love your puzzle videos ❤❤❤
Great content bro keep surprising with amazing puzzles
Idk what it is about this puzzle but it just activated my god mode
9:56 black IS able to make a check with the rook to give its king a space - move it to b4 after the king moves to f4. i’m probably missing something but idk
At 7:19, in the resulting endgame with Rook vs pawn, the win is not trivial since the white king is so far away. If black plays b5 in that position, white must play Rd6 to cut off the Black king off from advancing down the board to support the pawn. If the pawn gets 2 ranks away from the king, white’s rook will be able to capture it by itself. If black doesn’t play b5, white’s king has time to come over to the b-file.
Can someone please explain what happens if Rc5+?
i know this would be random but watching you work through a puzzle real time with eye tracking could be so cool
Wow what a nice puzzle
It's mate in two, launch a discovered attack by moving rook to c8.
**Chest A has gold**
-If A and B was false then it is impossible that they would both had gold.
-If B and C false, according to message B it should be in chest B, and according to mesange C it should not be in chest B. Again impossible.
-If A and C is false, according to message A the gold is in chest A, and according to message C it is not in B chest, and only true message B confirms it.
I guessed which chest had the gold, then totted up the true statements. Turns out, first guess (chest A) was correct.
Why didn’t the black pawn take the white rook at the beginning? How’s did white rook get there without getting taken in the first place?
Rc5. If black blocks with the pawn we can safely take with the bishop. R8b7 leads to Rc8+ and R5b7 is met with Na6. If, black now moves the rook, Rxc8 is mate. Else, we play Rc7. If the bishop captures on c7, Nxb7 is mate. If not then, Bxb7, Rxb7, Rc8+, Rb8, Rxb8#.
Edit: Nvm. Overlooked Na6, Bb6, Rb7, Rg8+ and white loses the rook and the game.
Excellent analysis. I thought Rc5 was a simpler win for sure. Did not see that Rb8 could swing over to g8 with check to give the King a flight square on b8.
Gold is in Chest A
Chest A hooray
Sting of piece like a bee
Wht if after king h3 black plays rook(b8 to b3)
You can do a easy check mate by playing c8
That's not a checkmate. After Rb7 white has no follow up.
@9:56 but why couldn't Rb4 check be played instead of Bg5?
Nxb4+
The gold is in c
At 10:19, this “winning endgame” with R+B+N vs. R+B+P seems quite tricky for the average player…..
these puzzles are mostly made by grandmasters + if you were able to see all of that then your most likely good enough to win that endgame
The answer for the sponsor puzzle is A cuz if chest b and c are contradicting one another one of them has to be correct but since there is only 1 truth chest A is lying
Chest A is the answer. Chest B and C are contradictory statements. One has to be true and the other has to be false. Therefore, Chest A is false and the gold is in Chest A.
ita chest b
aint that obvi?
why not rook a6?
My first move would be Rook to D6.
Yay I got one for once 😃
I found another win when lower rook protects but it takes 3 moves 1.Rc7+ R5b7 2.Na6 d5 3.Bxd5 Bg5 4.Bxb7+ Rxb7 5.Rh8+ Bd8 6.Rxd8+ Rb8 7.Rxb8# 1-0
How do you get a Rook to the h-file? Are you imagining 5.Rg7 Bf6, 6.Rg8+ or something like that?
White Rd7 is better than Nb6 10:31 bc Nc7 is check mate if take rook ... 🤔 or white scarifies pieces and still losses.
Wait wait wait how did this happen? Pawn D7 didn't just move there. Why didn't black take rook on the previous move. I don't see how we could realistically get into this position.
At the moment 10:07 black can play Re8+ and after that I don't find any mate or material advantage for white
After Re8+, white goes Ne7+ and it’s mate. Kb8 is forced, then Rb7+ and Ka8 forced, any rook move along the B file is mate
@@Relisoc right.. thanks
Sometimes material advantage is not as good as pieces quality!
I would argue in this case it comes down to king safety. Black's king is completely stuck with checkmate threats left and right. I suppose it's two sides of the same coin, the piece quality is high because they are targeting the king so nicely.
Nice!
Why is the rook not put in line with bishop and queen?
because knight to b6
if you talk about minute 8,18
Wy not tower C6
More simply, if your opponent has one bishop, stay on the other colour square.
'all videos white to play.and win.
The gold is in chest A.
Hi sir thx .
Very good description of out comes, based on the blacks 2 rooks. however what happens when white rook moves from c6 to b6? Black loses a rook next move because black can only block with rook b8 to b7!
I guess you forgot about d5 then.
Whats about Re2 at 10:12?
Bxe2
Ne3+ Rb7 Rc8#
I got it by seeing thumbnail
My guess was rook c8
Edit: i recant that i misjudged the distance of my knight and considered a smothered mate using both bishop and knight after taking one rook.
😮😍😍
10:07 rook e8??
another puzzle that i solved
2.28 rook to b6 is good move right? Y not
1.Rb6 d5
If Bxd5, Rxd5 and it trades down badly. If Nxd5, axb6 creating some breathing space for the king and there's no checkmate on c7 or b6 for the knight. The rooks still defend each other so the white rook isn't going to get anything done alone.
If the Gold is in Chest A then the message on Chest A is False, the message on Chest B is True, and the message on Chest B is False, so the gold must be in Chest A.
why not bishop e8 to capture rook on c7?
y remove the white rook
and white can trade a little bit but that still leaved black with 2 pawns and a rook vs a knight
At what point in the game? The positions that I see, where black can do that, it's a quick mate, either by Nxc7 or Nb6.
Nope, didn't see that one at all
the gold is in chest A
chest a has gold
nope, chest c has the gold
@@ariberman1119 how
@@ariberman1119 no it doesn't
@@ariberman1119 It's Chest A
If it's in Chest C, then the messages for Chest A and Chest B are both true. We know this cannot be so, since this goes against the premise. Therefore, the gold has to be in either Chest A or Chest B.
If it were in Chest B, then the messages for Chest A and Chest C would both be true. Again, this can't be the case. Therefore, the gold has to be in Chest A.
what is 4:41 rok plays h2
after kh3
Rc8 prob
I actually did it🤓
how about 1. Ra6...... ???
After Rb7 white has no good follow up.

Chest A had the gold.

its chest A guys
good morning nelsie poo
Chest c. If c is lying, it’s not in b, and a and b tell the truth, meaning c has the gold
The question was only 1 correct statement, not 2. B also has 2 correct statements, but A only has 1.
Wrong.
None would have foreseen all this in an actual 3 min game so what's the point to analyze all this
Chest A.
Answer is chest A
I've never seen a video stretched into 10 minutes so hard in my life.
cool
The gold is in chest A. 2 of them are lying. The 2 liars cannot be A & B because that would mean the gold is in both A & B but it can only be in 1 chest. B & C cannot both be liars because that creates a paradox in chest B where it simultaneously has and does not have the gold. So the 2 liars must be A & C. If A is lying, then the gold is in A.
A-has the gold... chest B is the only one true message, Chest A and chest C are lies.....
Rc8+ Rb5-7
Rxb8 Kxb8
Na6+
Instead black plays D5 to block the check
Chess A
Chest A
Chest b
this is yet another puzzle i think people need to word themselfs properly in chess and such
its not to play and win the very next move like you lead me to believe with title ...
White IS winning on the very next move, because best play by both sides lead to black getting checkmated no matter what they played. Any other move and it's literally a draw. Beside, it said "White to play and win", not "White to play and checkmate in one move".
And then he sacrifices THE ROOOOOOOOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And then he sacrifices THE BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISHOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And then he sacrifices THE KNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your voice is actual ASMR. You should take advantage of this gift.

hello
5:17 As black i rather would have tried to move Rb8 to b3.
@Elias Berrouka We know that all riddles are cursed by design. But some explanations should be expanded on every versions possible :)
A
The best move for white would be Rc5 to prevent the black pawn move d5 from covering the white bishop along the diagonal because the white bishop would just take it. Now, either of the 2 black rooks could block the white square on b7. If R5b7, then Na6 and black could either move its other rook to c8 or bishop to any black square; if R8b7, then white Rc8+ mates. If bishop moves, then white rook moves to c7. If black bishop captures white rook on c7, white's knight mates by taking the black bishop (suffocated mate). If black bishop does not capture white's rook on c7, then white's king moves closer to blacks pieces to win. There would be no stalemate because blacks bishop is free to move. To summarize,
WHITE BLACK or WHITE BLACK or WHITE BLACK
1 Rc5+ R8b7 1 Rc5+ R5b7 1 Rc5+ R5b7
2 Rc8+ mates 2 Na6 Rc8 2 Na6 Ba5
3 Rxc8+ mates 3 Rc7 Bxc7
4 Nxc7+ mates
