IMPRESSIVE, the riddim the most played and recovered wid the most of versions of differents singers in the World ! Di Sleng-Teng recovered today wid some others arrangemens, of course, it's very good idea and it shows to all Reggae fans recently (less than 10 years old) what brought Reggae out of the old style and how Reggae has evolved since 1984. I remind you that this riddim was released in 1985 by "Wayne Smith" and has everything immediately revolutionized all the Reggae, which went to another stage but at the time there were fewer than today and the Reggae was less fashionable than today, only the real addicts of the Sound-system Jamaican felt this new style happen. Here great artists give a fabulous new version, especially for Beenie Man, Buju, Ward 21, Turbulence, and Anthony B to name a few, had already made a version on the former Sleng Teng all there are between 5 and 20 years, but today they are all new versions that we can listen to today. Thank you Dj Tero because you released it first, and mixed well as usual. We realize that it is the most Raggamuffins and Dancehall toast versions that make the most of this Riddim. @@RASTA40TOULON Greeting. I've been browsing the archives for vinyl and watched how much I have Sleng Teng versions, is really a lot of them.
The Sleng Teng Riddim was first published in 1959, by Eddie Cochran - Somethin 'Else. The original version is rock, then it's the twisted Jamaica Dancehall version, as far as I know, the first Jamaica version is from 1985.
Of course, my favorite song is the King Jammy version of Under Me Sleng Teng (12 Inch).
Once, a Jamaican MC told me about 800 different artist versions of the Sleng Teng riddim, that's quite a number. Taking into account how many other riddims there are, for example "Computer" "Ting & Ting" "Utica Special" "Tranquilizer" and many other versions. Of course, the best producers and versions of the riddim have been made by King Tubby, King Jammy, John John, Jack Scorpio, Michael Bennett, Prince Jazzbo, CS Dodd, Gussie P, Striker Lee, Bobby Konders, Bunny Gemini, Weedy G, Big J. absolutely insane, it just shows how popular the riddim is and continues to be popular. I really like the riddim, it's one of the first digital recordings on the Jamaican dancehall side and will definitely stay with the game until the end. Ja-Man, Sleng Teng !! Stephane !! Sleng Teng !!
@@tariginal I don't know the version of Eddie Cochran but I will listen to see if it's the same, moreover, I'm not a pro of Rock but of Reggae. You're infernal when it comes to Reggae, I tell you that the first to have it out is Wayne Smith, who originally is not a singer but a bass player, and he sings on "Under me sleng-teng" you can easily find that on UA-cam, and if not you can ask all the Reggae sites you want and all the people who were already crazy of Reggae in 1985, in fact I made a small mistake of 2 years and I wasn't sure of myself when I wrote 1987, but for me it was already 4 years that I was in the Reggae in 87, and 2 in 85 but I'm pretty sure you're right on the date. And we were already listening to it as soon as it came out. I went up to "Blue-Moon" in Paris between 5 and 6 times a year to buy vinyls, you must have heard about this store if you are a little interested in France in the Reggae. But it's still "Wayne Smith" who is the first to have released it and I think you're talking about the same title that you like, released by "King Jammy" (first digital specialist) who produced "Wayne Smith". You can ask all the great specialists who are there like me for more than 35 years. If not before the riddim of the Retro-Teng (Sleng-Teng at new) we were more than 170 versions made on the Sleng-Teng, so more than the ones you've mixed lately in this fabulous compilation of versions.
