Ooh yeah, please note that comments are auto-moderated by UA-cam; so if you want to go and insult me for being the polite one in this video, go ahead. But if your post doesn’t show, be patient as I might approve it later as words don’t hurt and I can’t be bothered if you get into problems for comments you make online. Remember people; change starts with YOU!

Why American can have Truck weighing 4 tons with 8 cylinder engine.500 horsepower. Produces millions of tons of co².
And when they go to developing countries, they protest about the smoke or the sound of motorbikes? One cylinder 10 horsepower. Which only burns 1 liter of gasoline for 100 km.
      Why??

One of the things I loved about Indonesia is the fact that everyone SHARES the available space regardless of size, shape or vehicle.
I’m not saying the motorcyclists here are necessarily right, but attempting to replicate a seemingly “Western” mindset on traffic here is a fruitless endeavour without the sufficient infrastructure in the first instance. It doesn’t take a genius to work out that the infrastructure is not sufficient in parts of Indonesia, let alone Asia as a whole. An infrastructure problem caused by increased tourism and immigration to Indonesia.
At numerous points in the video, you had plenty of space to walk around without bothering anyone; however, you and your friend instead chose to walk into the bikes to antagonise/
    bully people (e.g. 07:30) - two wrongs don’t necessarily make a right.
I’m not sure if you’re doing positive things for the place there (I hope you are!) but instead of taking it out on the people, why not put pressure on the local police or government to control this or build the infrastructure in the first place?
Don’t misconstrue this as “hate”, just offering an alternate point of view and my two cents that no-one asked for. Thanks for reading.

You may have a point however isn't this also a case of poor infrastructure? In any country, foreigners going against the grain of normal behaviour won't be received well. Whether it be an illegal norm or not. Your intention may be good. You may also be illustrating that Indonesians.are capable of doing better however I'm not sure that it's appropriate to be setting this video as an example for other foreigners to follow whilst travelling to Indonesia. I will leave that for Indonesians to be the judge. My experience is that Indonesians are mostly an intelligent bunch and are well aware of their own problems. I get the frustration too but there are equally enough good things in Indonesia that probably deserve more attention. I propose this as constructive criticism and wish you well in all of your future video postings.

"My experience is that Indonesians are mostly an intelligent bunch and are well aware of their own problems." You're absolutely right and I agree with you fully. My other video's about Indonesia (well, except one that's related to this one but then Jakarta) are the videos you'd probably expect to be on UA-cam, but this serious problem needs addressing as it has not been solved after 18 years of me being in Indonesia, where many other problems have.

The Dutch love bicycles. But Indonesians also like bicycles (with engines).
Because of the temperature during the day, no one wants to use the sidewalk (except people from subtropical Climate.)
Intinya jalan kaki pada siang hari adalah budaya barat bukan Indonesian. Jadi orang cuma jalan pada malam hari.

Back in early 2000's and before people used to do this in my country (Sri Lanka) but other people start to rip off or slap the side mirrors !
now no one do it, if you see someone parked like that it's most likely broken or a flat (we have a lot of old vehicles do to having almost 400% import Tax) and if the bikers are parking, they will make sure there is space for people !
Gov's can't fix these types of problems, people have to change !
we still have some that "my country" type people and what they don't know is that they are making the country look bad !

why western people don't like motorbikes (even electric ones )
Even though motorbikes produce less co² than cars and are more efficient than bicycles in speed , Can go uphill ,5 can people ride the motorbike , And can carry items weighing 200kg.

    • @johanstravel
      @johanstravel  5 місяців тому

I'm not sure why they don't like motorcycles; maybe because they've grown up having cars around them and stepping on a motorcycle is a step down? I don't agree with that though, it's very convenient to have a motorcycle at hand where walking is too far and the car is too much of a hassle.

The author of this video is lucky that southeast asian people, in general, are very polite. It is obvious that the roads and infrastructure in Indonesia, Thailand and other SE asia countries are under developed. That doesn't give a rich European tourist the right to harass those people. Again, you are very lucky to not find someone that doesn't take BS from people like you.
