    I went here for the first time ever karting two weeks ago and now im super obsessed! my best time was an average 45.135.
    im going to start karting twice a week from this week and hope to bring that time down a few seconds. I have been to TS Bradford and it was fun but not the same feel as Leeds. Thanks for the video it will help me out.

      p.s im 40 years old. do you think i am too old to get into this sport on a serious level or should i just keep it fun? i would like to get good enough for the BIKC

      @@CrossEyes79 Yes Club & Elite Members. Well worth coming down. It runs 7pm until 9pm roughly. Usually 1 hour team endurance race with 2 drivers, randomly picked, per team (Driver swap at 30min mark). Great social event and a mixed bag of skill levels, but importantly everyone races clean. Theres a whole range of ages from 16+ to overs 50's, age is just a number right!
      Even if you come down and watch the first one and meet some of the guys, I would suggested it :)
      Theres a few lads who race in the BIKC as well.

    Hey mate, I managed to do a 41.0 after my 4th visit. I do manage to brake late for the first corner and go flat through the esses but it’s the under pass I lose a lot of time as I spend the exit sliding. Any tips for the underpass and the last sector?

    At the double hairpins, in the 2nd hairpin do you break or do you just lift off?

    I'm a newbie and a fair bit off your pace at 42 secs. I've no idea how you keep it flat through the esses?! I think the other place you're noticeably quicker is through the underpass where I seem to end up coming out the other side a lot wider than you... if I try and keep the tight inside line I end up with pretty big oversteer.
    Will be keeping an eye out for your videos as that was really insightful, cheers!

      Hi, Alex here from this video. I have to tell you that the esses flat was one of the hardest things for me to get my head around. It took months of practice to master but once you hook that up you can gain a lot of time (maybe 1 to 1.5s).
      The key from my perspective is that you need to use aggressive steering before the apexes and a subtle sliding in each direction to scrub the speed of the kart to make it work. It's tricky but it slows the kart just enough to make the turns flat and importantly keeps you in the revs and the centrifugal clutch fully engaged. An advantage you take all the way over the bridge.
      The esses are a L R L combo and in that second left i'll often have the steering wheel fully neutral to make it work. Any lock will result in sliding in most karts. Sometime I even steer slightly towards the wall on the outside here to arrest the slide before it happens. The grip always comes back just before the wall but it feels like you're going to slam hard on the outside sometimes. That's the biggest leap to getting it right. Confidence and a kart with a great turn in is essential. Try taking the L and R flat and just having a little lift in the next L and keep going until the lift is gone.
      The underpass combo is a similar concept you want the rotation of the kart to be complete before sending it over the crest of the entrance to the dip and the exit of the dip. The crests unsettle the kart and cause sliding and slowness. Your brain wants you to chuck it in and man handle the kart through this section but smoothness over those crests is the key. Smooth steering on entry, tight on the wall on the left, through the dip and then turn early for the double apexed right. Neutral steering of the kart over the crest to prevent the slide and tight on that second apex to be close to the wall for T11 and T12 to close the lap. Again, try lifting very slightly as you come out of the dip and focus on the tight line first. Then push closer and closer until you have no lift.
      Hope that helps a little and good luck. Probably see you down there at some point. :)

      @@lexusuk7901 well that's plenty for me to get my teeth into next time I'm down there, thanks a lot for taking the time to give me some pointers. Clearly you two are doing something right as it looks almost effortless in this video!
      What you've said makes perfect sense but having the ability and confidence to put it into practice is another thing. Will see how it goes!

      @@purplesectors978 I have to admit since me and another fellow sunday nighter tried the flat out through the esses its certainly made is consistent 40 second lap times even in nearly all of the karts bar 1 which was a 41.2 but the consistency has vastly improved by trying that method, still getting hang of it still not 100% but its certainly helped the consistency in lap times, I did a 39.9 at best and have run a few low 40s but was struggling to get into them 39s but i think with the right karts I can get a bit lower in the 39s, but time will tell, just a quick one, where do you brake on turn 1 after the long straight? I feel a brake perhaps a little too early (just after where the barrier goes further out if that makes sense)

    • @lexusuk7901
      @lexusuk7901 4 роки тому

      @@leewoods8686 Yeah i'd say pretty much where the barrier kinks out on the left. Obviously the later the better though. I think hitting the apex and carrying momentum is the trick with T1 over the brake point.

      People getting sub 41 here are most likely lightweight racers. I’ve been today done 41.0 . I’m 13 stone. If I was 10 stone I’d be doing 38s

      @@MrSimonchloe 3 stone weight difference is no way near 3 seconds. from a 50kg to 100kg driver at most it might be about 2 seconds on average.
      Kart difference is a big thing too which could make it more than that depending on who you're racing.

    • @MrSimonchloe
      @MrSimonchloe 9 місяців тому

      @@rjarookie4654 all I’m saying is that these sub 40s are lightweight drivers and of course weight makes a massive impact on the lap times, it changes everything. Let’s imagine this driver adding the weight of 2 large bags of cement onto their seat and see what times they get. I think plus 3 seconds

      @@MrSimonchloe I literally went to Leeds last night members event. My fastest lap was a 40.9 and I'm 92kg. quickest drivers fastest lap was a 39.3 so yeah 3 seconds is not correct at all.
      This was my first time at Leeds also because I'm preparing for BIKC, I could definitely improve by at least half a second.
