    Edit - This is fixed, promo code is working as of 14th Jun 23! The price has jumped around, but is still cheapest at Aliexpress if you don't mind the wait.
    [OLD] Hello - I'm getting reports that the promo code isn't working, I'm contacting Infiray to find out what's going on! Sorry for the hassle, will update this pinned comment as soon as I can!

    Looks really good, but they changed the price from 226 to 299 pounds/euro. Not happy with these practices.
    And makes the reviewer look bad too.
    For 226 no doubt I'd buy it, but I hate these shady price hikes.

      yep me three.... I'll definately not be buying one for this reason, I would at 226 but I'll make do with my older Flir C3

      On March 21, 2014, I saw $299 on Amazon.
      The clarity in close-up detail is great.
      H
      Just seeing the bright red spot is sufficient. I do somewhat sense bias in this review.
      Not to mention the price is not what the reviewer stated.
      It's much higher, $20 off if it worked would still be higher than what was stated here.

    The hot spot was pretty clear on the Flir at 06:48 . The warm hand made it harder to see initially.

    • @TechRIP
      @TechRIP Рік тому +1

      Yep. It was instantly recognizable at the initial 2 amp setting. You don't want to normalize it. Let the camera focus on the product, not your hand.

  • @mlutescu

    I think you have an older version of the Flir application. On the one that I tested quite recently, you CAN normalize the image, actually you can select a range of temperatures to match the brightest and the darkest colors.

    A tip for users of older (flir) Thermal Cameras:
    Turn off the optical overlay. Even with the lower thermal resolution, the pure thermal image makes more "sense" when diagnosing electronics. At least for me the displacement of the optical image creates more confusion than the added details helps.
    At least for me, turning the optical overlay off completely made my flir one way more usable for me.

    Been looking for a thermal camera for over a year now and was always hesitant about the phone connected camera. However after watching this I just picked myself up a Infiray P2 Pro for board repair. I thought it was neat that you can see the studs in your wall behind the drywall. Has to be an insulated exterior wall to detect the temperature differences.

  • @Torchizard

    The Doogee S98 Pro phone has a Infiray P2 built in and has the option to combine the visible light picture with the infrared in various ways. The thermal camera is also very useful as a wall stud detector.

    • @tullgutten
      @tullgutten 4 місяці тому

      Yes it does but it is a little worse app and frame rate is a lot less but still way more than Flir 🤣
      I have S98 Pro with the infiRay module and a separate Flir ONE PRO and the flir is GARBAGE compared to infiray 😁 especially the app and the battery dies all the time, I've got mine replaced 3 times on warranty while the infiray never had any problem.
      I usually only use pure infrared and not MSX/MIX with RGB camera.
      And the regular camera on the phone is far from good.
      infiRay also sells their own phone that has the camera in it and i bet it is much better overall but it is almost twice the price of the Doogee. It's the InfiRay PX1

    The different colour palletes are useful for different situations. Like White hot is used for search and rescue or locating living things. The purple/orange is useful for electronics. If you can adjust the temperature range you can get even better detail.
    The problem with Flir and Seek is since both are American companies they are legally not allowed to export their better cameras such as the Lepton 24hz. Instead we get sensors like the Flir Lepton 8hz version like in your Flir One. Also, a Lepton 2.5 sensor has 80x60 resolution. The best Lepton 3.5 sensor is 160x120 resolution while the Infiray has 256x192. That in itself is a great advantage as resolution is the number one requirement when it comes to usability.

    FLIR's frame rate is limited to 9 fps or below by US export controls. Infiray does not share this restriction, so it will have an edge against new FLIR devices covered by the US controls. For more details, search for : Thermal Camera Export Restrictions infraredcameras

    A good review but it is important to know how well the camera fits to the phone and if both iPhone and Android are supported (connectors and apps).
    Also, does the camera need the phone's protective cover to be removed so that it can be fitted? some products in the past were bad for this.

    Can you not use a warm pointy object and , while looking at the image, move the stick to the object of interest by looking at the image. When you than look directly at the circuit board, you can see at which component the stick points too? I have no idea if this is even feasible, but it was something that I was immediately thinking of if I were to try to identify the component.see for example the video at 11:34. You can 'warm' the pointy stick by holding it close to a cup of warm water/coffee, whatever is available.

      Yea something like that would work. A screw driver or even tweezers would probably do it, anything that's shiny metal will reflect the heat rays from around the room, so will light up under the camera even if it's not hot.

    I have the InfiRay PX1 phone with embedded thermal camera (and one major problem I will mention at the end) and it has a blend feature to combine regular image with thermal, however it's not good at close range. The mode that you will find useful is PIP (Picture In Picture).
    There are some caveats, though:
    - You cannot attach a macro lens to it at all.
    - The power connector is very deep in and most of my Type C cables can't reach it.
    - The big problem is the software. Often times you may have to reboot because the last time you used the thermal imaging app it didn't release the device, so when you launch it again it says device is busy. It has the same problem with the regular camera as well.

    The product lineup of Infiray is really impressive these days. I'm also a Flir user (Flir One Pro), but being jealous of what Infiray and others offer these days. I hope that Flir will at least catch up in software a little bit, but i'm looking forward to switch in the upcoming year as well. One very simple feature I also like in the Infiray eco system is the temperature alarm. As a side hobby I fly FPV Coptersand charging LiPo batteries after a heavy crash always feels a bit uncomfortable. Being able to just point the thermal cam on the lipo packs being charged with a set temperature alarm would be so helpful. As far as I have seen Infiray is offering that features in some of their apps, while Flir doesn't have it.

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  Рік тому

      Yup, this one has the temp alarm. What it feels like to me is that Flir gate certain features behind certain models, where as Infiray gives you the full software suite regardless of what camera you're using.

    • @Leif_YT
      @Leif_YT Рік тому

      @@Adamant_IT I think some InfiRay cams can also be connected to a PC or?
      With Flir I've often the feeling that they don't care about their entry level line. They make big money with their cameras for the industry and government. When I've reported some bugs to the flir support it was sometimes very hard to reach them and their contact emails changed quite often like they changed the dev team behind the Android app. Lots of speculations from my side, but that's my feeling as a customer of them. They had a very annoying bug with new android versions that took them about a half year to fix for example. So much opportunities in software with such a piece of hardware, but they don't really make use of it. Luckily I got my flir one pro refurbished for around 200€. I wouldn't pay 400€ for it these days if I see what the competition offers around that price range.

So definitely I can’t buy the version that says it’s for iOS, because it shows the lightning port in the product images, and the new iPhones have usb-c now. 300 quid! There's nothing in my tool kit that even comes close to having cost that much. That just makes it too expensive for the hobbyist.

    Please refer to German customers as DE, nobody (in Germany at least) uses GE, maybe GER, but just go for the domain abbreviation as you did for everyone except Germany and Spain ;)

    I'll start I think the Infiray macro lens is cool. but your demonstration of the flir was awful and felt biased. I noticed the hotspot immediately on the flir, until you put your hand in. I felt the flir was better then the Infiray for this test. Again Infiray is cool. but this video felt paid for

      I have Flir ONE PRO (the newest one)
      And a Doogee S98 PRO phone with infiRay camera.
      Trust me the Flir one is really bad, the resolution is way too low and it is actually less sensitive, also the Flir one has a lot of hardware problems and the app sucks and only support newer than 4 year old phones, they update away the support and refuse to help you

    Yes, I agree that it's a great camera and very high quality, but people like me simply cannot afford to spend that much on it, no matter how much we want or need it. Between all the other monthly expenses, there's just no room to set aside $250-300. Maybe someday in another life, or perhaps if someone who doesn't find that amount significant decides to donate one to me, I could improve my repair process as well. Congratulations to you on getting one.

    Still an expensive IR camera. No visible image blend is a minus.
    I subscribe to the long list of those asking you to shave that "beard". You are not more interesting with it. Just odd and nerdy.

    This is a garbage camera , thermal noise is more than real thermal picture, and resolution is trashy

    Shill review? Did You get paid to do this review? The Flir One Pro has 3 points You can set at any time. It has temperature range, so You dont have to stick your hand in front of the camera. The Flir One Pro has the option to allign the 2 cameras perfectly when used at close distances. You should really replace Your worn out Flir One with a Flir One Pro. You´ll be happy that You did, even though I don´t have a promo code for You to get some discount

      I received a free sample from Infiray to review. If Flir want to send me a One Pro, I'd be happy to test that out as well, although it lacks a macro lens, is lower resolution, and costs more than the P2 Pro... so... yea that'll be a tough sell.

    • @TopRacer2002
      @TopRacer2002 4 місяці тому

      So, you are saying that the Flir, a more expensive camera with 2.56 times less resolution (19200px Vs 49152px) and 2.8 times less framerate (8.9hz Vs 25hz) is better? Clearly you don't know how thermal cameras operate.
      The higher the resolution, the more detail and the longer distance you see. Add the better framerate and it will make for much more effective troubleshooting in more diverse scenarios. Not to mention the higher framerate does also make it easier to find wildlife or pests.
      Try following a scurrying rat and you'll see what I mean.
      Not bashing Flir, but bang for buck, the Infiray is superior.

    Very useful bit of kit and that's gonna have to be something to add to my list of new toys to add to my little at home computer repair jobs but seeing the price of them ouch I think I need a lot of laptops and desktops repaired / sold before I can afford one of those
    I gotta invest in a better scope as well gosh the one I got has a really good picture but the problem I have is it sits to low down so close to a board that if using rework station will probably cook it so ended up using a mobile phone stand clamped to my desk on a long adjustable arm and use my mobile phone as a camera attacked to my AIO PC
    And as a bonus just picked up some more laptops yesterday 10 of them in reasonable condition complete with chargers and hard disks kinda rare here for about 7,000 pesos or five or take 50 quid
