I am so glad you did this one Fraser. I could not make the live stream but thoroughly enjoyed watching it on catch up.. you were thumbing through the the Bach book playing snippets from so many pieces I actually like BWV 538 (Dorian) BWV540 (my favourite), etc, but then you stopped at BWV544 before you could get to my second favourite BWV552 (St Anne). I do have to say that Bach's Preludes are far more accessible than the Fugues which seem to be rather more indulgent and appear to be an exercise in virtuosity rather than listening pleasure! This prelude BWV544 was a surprise. I have not heard it before and again think it is nicer to listen to than the fugue.
I know you don't like playing it, but well done. It is appreciated.. BTW how is Passacaglia (BWV582) going that you started looking at 3 years ago? LOL!

My favorite from tonight’s program was BWV 544/1.

Thank you old friend - even if it was practically sight-reading. It’s a wonderful piece that doesn’t get enough air time. Haarlem is the perfect instrument for it too.

This first piece of Bach (the chorale prelude) can be taken a little slower to good effect.
