  • Jay and Tanya take their first African safaris, two in Mana Pools National Park in Zimbabwe and one in Saba Sands Wildlife Preserve adjacent to Kruger National Park in South Africa. Both locations had their positives and in this video they share their thoughts as to which location was best. You be the judge.

This is a great summary. Saying this as a Zimbabwean whose been to both Mana Pools, Kruger and a whole lot more parks in the region, Kruger is best compared with other large Big Five national parks in Zim like Hwange and Gonarezhou when it comes to animal sightings. In fact Gonarezhou and Kruger (and Limpopo in Mozambique) form a mega trans-national park. Mana Pools is best experienced by walking or canoe safaris to full appreciate its status as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Us locals just stay at Zimparks campsites (Nyamepi is my favourite) and the animals literally wander across camp 24/7 with little need to go out for game drives. It's very much a slower paced park to wind down as opposed to spending your time in a vehicle to cross off animals off a checklist as you would at a Big Five park. Really glad you enjoyed your time in Zim and hope you'll be back as you've haven't seen Mosi as Tunya, or rather the mighty Victoria Falls!!

Great video. I enjoyed watching it. I’ve been to S Africa and Botswana for safari but not Zimbabwe. Very interesting that Kanga Camp was pricier than Nottens! I suspect due to remoteness? I appreciate the video. Heading to Kenya next week!
