After all this time, No Leaf Clover is still one of the greatest masterpieces. It's an incredible collaboration
The same ❤️
How about the page plaint tour
Love it great awesome
It's a greatest song of Metallica
Me encanta, como pudieron Pasar los años de rápido 1998, 25 años recuerdo este tema como si fuera el año pasado, era tan feliz y no lo sabía, me gustaría retroceder el tiempo y volver a esos años, lo mejor es que lo viví
I don't care what anyone thinks about them... THIS IS A FU**ING MASTERPIECE!!!
kinglarrythefirst , yep
Damn straight
Yes indeed
YES! It is! \m/
It realy is bro i'm with u
What is it about metal and classical music, that when skillfully combined, produce a powerfully haunting sound? All I can say is job well done.
Bach would've loved metal
Classical is Metal
@3:56 always loved that edit there with the young kid flailing his hair to the music and then next to him the bald gentleman in the tux trying to contain himself.
exactly
Check out the faceless
This song is one of my favourites. I remember hearing it when I was a Little girl when my dad played the entire S&M dvd. Still gives me chills to this day. So poetic and all round amazing.
Nice! Convey fellow-metallica fans' regards to your dad.
No matter how many times I hear this, it gives me the biggest damn goosebumps ever
In-fucking-deed...
THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME!!!
The entire Orchestra and The Band Jelled PERFECTLY!!!
Goosebumps indeed.
Extremely under rated Performance.
willy565
And Hetfield's Voice cracking at the end....Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This song is the one the wrote to be performed with the symphony. All the others shoe horned in. Thus it is my opinion that this is the best song they have written since master of puppets. (the album not the song)
But that's just me.
Nick Barker One of my favorities... it´s amazing!
My favourite song by Metallica. Mostly because of two things, the melody and the poetry behind it.
me too
one of my personal favorites as it still gives me goosebumps hearing it now.
bitch please. metallica is dyers eve, phantom lord. not that shit
Don't bitch me, bitch. You're one of those people I wonder why are here.
bitch please. go listen master of puppets. not load and reload
"Yeaaaaaeeeeaaeeh"
- James Hetfield
"Ooooooh"
I think collectively you two just pre-determined his headstone.
Uhm
-Lars Ulrich
Kirk-
Hey guys!
yeah
3:04 to 3:13 .. that melody in his voice... not a single singer does that ...Such a legend \m/
Bem observado. Ninguém faz igual
Especially that part before the yeah. Dude fuckin NAILED it
One of the greatest songs ever...period!
I agree (and I'm not an heavy metal fan)
agreed
Steve Mo the kind that gives you chills!
Exclamation Point!
One of the best but The Unforgiven was better.
This song goes for me in the top 5 best Metallica songs ever. My opinion.
My top 5 changes, for the last year, this was my number 1
totally agree... together with their "Nothing else matters" I think even in the top 5 best heavy metal songs ever (with "The trooper" and "Hallowed be thy name" of Iron Maiden).
aces high
Luigi Battista straordinario
me 2 3 4
Probably the most underrated song of Metallica!
it is actually really popular
No. That's "The Outlaw Torn".
Noooo it’s suicide and redemption!
Nooo its fixxxer
Nooo its bleeding me
No leaf clover has one of the best solos of all time in my opinion.
For sure
Yes
Kirk drops the Peoples Elbow on that solo! 😆
Terrible wah-drenched mess of a solo.
@@alexroyster182 nice pick man
RIP Michael Kamen. This is your legacy \m/
The fact that they can write such an epic song like this to incorporate the orchestra just proves they are the greatest rock band of all time.
no it doesnt
what if my band is better and you havent heard it yet? how can you judge?
If UA-cam had fact checking you would be flagged for false information. So the Beatles, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Rolling stones and all the other bands that was way more influential and groundbreaking than Metallica take a seat behind Metallica because they played alongside a symphony they are the "greatest rock band of all time". Lmfao.
Deep Purple done that decades before this
The emotion of this song was too much for my son. The thrill I felt made him cry, I miss him so much!
The thrill that you felt from this song made him cry?
Honestly, one of my favourite Metallica songs. The orchestra works so well in it.
Best singing of Hetfield in this one, all in his style, pitch and performance
I think James voice was best during reload and S&M (unpopular opinion)
@@oliverdahlberg838 In terms of technique and delivery, I totally agree. the stuff on puppets-black album was good but more because of the energy and attitude less because of the quality of vocals
Great vocals and Mama said ..
One lil' thing
this performance was actually autotuned
on the recordings
the concert was the only og sound
James was slightly autotumed here in few places but I agree that the delivery was very good
James has really a stunning voice, I love it
His mother was an opera singer FYI : )
raysdga I didn't kniw... thanks for the info
This is just hard work, not genes :)
This one (vocals) was re-recorded in the studio, it sounds drastically different from the rest of the show
Not everyone can sing, no matter how hard you work at it.
some things are just gifts passed down through family.
Imagine if they wrote a full album like this...
(edit: I mean an album of original material please stop replying guys i get it)
metallica s&m album, search it
I meant an album of original material, but yeah, S&M kicks ass!! \m/
Yeah this and I disappear would have been awesome.
Max Otto I Disappear was meant as a single, it was the soundtrack for a movie (MiB or Mission Impossible, 1 of those lol). No Leaf Clover and Minus Human were written for the S&M album. After I Disappear no new songs were written until St. Anger, which they began writing after Jason left (check out the Some Kind Of Monster documentary, it's on Netflix).
they can do a song that takes up an entire CD like DT did.
This song is peak Metallica, the emotion in the vocals, the riffs, the solos and the orchestra are unreal. James’ vocals throughout the whole S&M album are in my opinion the best ever.
This song is just a pure proof that James is pure talent and he is a man of Music.
***** ofc it is too
All I can think of is how much cliff would've loved this song with the combination of classical and metal. It's a good feeling. I think.
I always love the sound of classical mixed with rock. it's awesome!
Metal please
Dario Carbajal lol, metal these days is screening music. But idc, anything that has guitar and drums and a bass and sings as if the song isn't rap, it's rock to me.
Unless it's country. Lol. I don't know how to describe it really.
But metal is still considered as rock genre to me though.
+Neferotus “The Dark Mage Angel” Ruinaar agreed mate :D. It makes sense cause it's where modern music was derived (if u exclude cavemen on animal skin bongos)
This is their best song since the Black album and the most underrated song in their catalog. It's an absolute powerhouse. Could you imagine being at this concert and hearing it for the first time ever?!?!?!?!
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Was just a freight train coming your way ....
No Leaf Clover = Another great song by Metallica
OMG that old lady headbanging at 3:55
Thats what its all about . All ages and people like the long hair headbanger and guy next to the lady in a suit
No doubt she was a kid when band new! Did not even think about being 51 when they a new band!!
She doesn't look THAT old
Me
Rocking the hell out has no demographic requirements. If you feel it, do it.
The last singing part starting at 4:26 is amazing. The way he builds it up.
a greater combination between the two genres I have yet to find.
Dimmu Borgir do some amazing work with the plague symphony orchestra
Anglachael Hey, fuck you.
Yet you already wasted time commenting anyways :) Have a nice day, ya salty fuck.
Anglachael
What I got from that long sepal, was that you are operating under the illusion that is just some heavy metal screaming coupled with an orchestra.
I can say right now that is nothing of the sort.
Yes it's rock and roll and has some epic guitar shreds but I highly doubt people are going to see that as a fault.
Thought I doubt that you will, for it require some sort of admission that you may be wrong, listen to the damn song.
It's a good song.
This is a good band.
And if it bothers you so much I will search through my posts and find this exact one, and change the title too "What a great combination of genres" Would that make you happy little internet troll? Is that what you want me to do?
Because This entire cluster fuck you've set up is based off of me saying a statement meant to praise a song I enjoy.
But of course you took it literally and hit me with both barrels of your bullshit. Thanks man, I really appreciate it.
Anglachael You realize you're still salty after a month, right?
This can never be loud enough.
Toni Spaulding lol exactly
This is by far the best Symbiosis of Metal and Classical music. Just breath-taking.
RIP Michael Kamen,a true maestro and metal head.
This is the first song I heard from Metallica and it is awesome.
Hilarious man! I spit out my beer!
Martin Nguyen that's cool, Im probably older then you, my first Metallica Album I listened to was my boyfriend's Master of Puppets , first songs I loved of theirs were Sanitarium and Master of Puppets.
Melissa Reiman The first Metallica album I got was St. Anger. Despite the mixed reviews it received, I liked it a lot since it has lyrics of psychological problems.
Ride the lightning it was fight fire with fire was my first,it was '84 or '85
Next your gonna realize hair grows in funny places. :D
Instant eargasm
Well said
NutShell1993
Michaelpony ok
i cannot believe how Addicting this tune is. love it
Lui C me too
Wasn't a huge fan of the S & M stuff, but holy shit is this a good song.
Perfect from beginning to end.
S&M was their best album.
@@rustykoehler2789 Personally, I found that the orchestral music clashed with the band rather than blending with them. Not crapping on your favorite album; just saying. I think I like No Leaf Clover because (as I found out after hearing it) it was written to be played with the orchestra. Everything sounds like it was meant to be together...because it was.
Just never got that same feeling from the other songs. It almost sounds like playing a random symphony while simultaneously playing Metallica songs, to see if they match up.
Oh well. To each their own.
@@themetalone7739 I think they mixed the orchestra and the band together better in S&M 2
I never once thought that Metal and Orchestra could collaborate like this, when I first heard this whole album like a year ago almost, I thought "Metallica did the impossible"
Fuck i love James Hetfield, what a legend.
People compare James to God, i mean he's great but he isn't James :p
They are history no more no less
They are history no more no less
I think all the members is fantastic
I AM THE TABLE
😂😂😂😂
Always in the mood for multiple eargasms in the morning thanks to Metallica 💜
Eargasm forever
id like to give u a real one 😉😉
J YA DEAD HOMIE have some water, sounds like you need it
777tgif777 SAME
Wow Nice Pic
This is James' best vocal performance ever. absolutely outstanding. My favorite Metallica song.
This song is really beautiful! I'm trying to imagine how they would've done "Orion" if they'd played it with the Symphony. "Fade to Black" is also on my list of songs I'd love to hear with the Symphony in the background.
Yeah that could be nice. They played Call of Ktulu with the symphony, and that actually sounded pretty awesome.
"Then it comes to be that the soothing light
at the end of your tunnel
Was just a freight train coming your way"
I don't know what it is about this line but it makes my hair in the back of my neck stand up
Love you James...so many years of great riffs, melodies, and amazing vocals...thank you so much.
don't forget the poetic lyrics.
I agree. I mean I love the rest but for me James is the best in Metallica. His vocals, melodies, riffs, lyrics, energy and passion are beyond beautiful. One of the best musicians this world has birthed.
how NOT to absolutly LOVE that song?! EPIC!!
it's something beautiful deep & prophetic about this song ..i absolutely love it!
It's one of my favorite songs ever... EPIC.
Might be my all time favorite Metallica song.
Underrated Metallica song.
This solo is so damn good, and people say that Kirk doesn't know how to create solos.
Who the hell said this lol.
who were you talking to?
Actually Lars asks Kirk what he wants in guitar solo, but Kirks is a very good guitar player, no doubt and his solo... amazing. You right.
he is definetly not bad but what actually most of the time all he does putting effects that goes awesome with the soul of the song or high speed tapping atleast that what makes his solo good for ears. he is a legend indeed but you cant compare him with too many guitarist, there are mans way above kirk like petrucci and maybe those people was trying to say that
One of the most epic musics of the world!! YES!! Of the world!!
I love this! Where two worlds meet. My late father loved classical music, and I love metal. Who would have thought that the two would sound so good together. I'm sure my late father would have appreciated this masterpiece!
This song is a freight train coming our way.
yeahhh!
Or even a Hate Train
I agree
Thumbs up if you're still rocking this into 2015!
I loved it when they brought this album out. Metallica playing along side an entire symphony orchestra. It's beautiful.
One of the greatest songs of all time. Can’t believe this isn’t more popular
This song is a masterpiece. It is a great piece of music by this human race.
Wish that was me at 2:14. THAT PERSON WAS SO LUCKY!!!!!
Kirk's epic freaking solo with that symphony in the background is like a drunk viking with an axe bro fisting a french aristocrat with a rapier over the corpse of fallen frost giant they slew together.
those are like lyrics to a Cannibal Corpse song if they went power metal
haha
You're to fucking metal man. To fucking metal for your own good.
Awesome analogy
Deadnight weyy
This is THE most amazing, beautiful collaborations I’ve ever heard. It goes back & forth between being melodic & hauntingly beautiful to bring so powerful it’s like a punch to the gut. I feel so many emotions when I hear this & play it over and again so many times a day.
Your cat looks like mine very much so
That’s Teddy Bear, he is a male mixed Maine Coon I used to have. I lost custody of my two beloved cats after my divorce because I couldn’t find a place I could afford to live & keep them. My ex, who cheated on me, gave away Teddy & Stuffy but won’t tell me to who. That’s how the gaslighting, lowlife I was married to for over 20 years behaved because I wouldn’t live as his “roommate” whilst he was out sowing his oats all over.
I WANT A STUDIO VERSION!!! AWESOME SONG
in guitar hero metallica there is this music in studio version
Why? This has the quality of a studio recording
No X cause. Scuse aught a me
The late 90s what a good time to be alive
All of the 90s was.
We had some outstanding rock come out of the 90s.
Id put money on that most of the shit out today won't be relevant in 25 years time
@@leemcqueen500 yes thats true i miss every one of those years
Yeap my teenage years!
I bow in the presence of greatness.
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel....Was just a freight train coming your way!!...damn that's a deep line!!
The best song ever.
totally agreed
Yes indeed :)
Now a classic master piece....
Absolutely
Not even the best Metallica song.
Absolutely, Without a doubt this song is top shelf - period 💪😵😎🤘🤘🤘🤘
Dam straight brother ❤🤘🤘
Any Metallica fans that say this is shit ok fine but do NOT say Metallica are NOT Metal. They paved the way for so many. They earnt the right to do different stuff. If you're a REAL fan you would respect that and stop trying to hold them back. If you want to listen to the same old shit all the time go listen to Nickleback. If you cant accept difference then you havent grown yet
Whoever says Metallica aren't heavy metal need to remember this band influenced so many other metal bands since the 80s.there will NEVER be another Metallica!
Not only is this a great song, but it's one of those things that brings back teenage memories of going to the weight room after school and blasting this on the cheap radio. Then, driving my friends home in my 86 corolla (not the cool drifting one)
This song is a real masterpiece by Metallica.
The bridge is so bad-ass.
\,,/
i remember my dad would put this on at like 7:00am on a saturday mornings to wake me up for my little league football games. love you dad.
If you ain't sweating, you ain't rockin! Thanks Metallica for putting it all on the line every time.
Man, this needs to be reuploaded in HD 720p at least just for the bump in sound quality.
actually it could be uploaded in 720p but then they would have to rescan the original film (if they didn't use mostly digital, also it is sometimes expensive) but the film was shot in the same aspect ratio as this video is in. (so it would still have the box shaped video but it would look better) as for the sound, they have a cd with what I believe is uncompressed so it would sound better than on YT. Sorry for the long reply
Actually HD: High definition, the sound wouldn't change unless it is HQ: High quality.
i get what you mean. but i don't think changing the quality of the picture would do much to the sound tbh
I got an idea:
Just search: No Leaf Clover Metallica Topic, it must appear in the thumbnail, The cover Of the álbum, and the channel must be Metallica Tv, With a musical note, it's just the audio, but it Is in a very good quality
my favourite metallica song, absolutely!
What a pity live versions without orchestra won't never be as beautiful as it is in S&M :(
This song give me goose bumps every time! One of my all time favorites! Wish they played it during the Hardwired tour in Philly
@Jennifer Gugger. I agree that’s the power of a good song what others would you recommend
„...the soothing light at the end of your tunnel is just a freighttrain coming your way“ is such a powerfully hope shattering line ☠️
when you are feeling unlucky this songs hits you hard..
One of my favorites. Metallica with the symphony is absolutely incredible and amazing
Metallica is life
Amen!!!
I can't get enough of this song, just a soul inside out. Thank you Metallica for being there and supporting me through a difficult time. Boys, you are the best!
My favorite song of all time. METALLICA FOREVER.
Is it me or METALLICA really doesn't have a bad song, not even one !!! \m/
You haven't listened to St. Anger have you.
Dylan Willis or maybe he or she doesn't have a closed mind.
No open minded or not St. Anger sucks. it was terribly mixed, and just didn't feel like a Metallica album at all. I am anything but closed minded i can sit down and listen to any genre of music and thoroughly enjoy it. But St. Anger... my god that album makes me want to puke.
Metallica wasn't active for a long time and had issues around that time. What do you expect ? I like st anger. I'm sorry you don't but that's cool with me. I just wish there were solos, better production and Frantic off the album
I love Metallica and I've listened to all their songs and albums they are all awesome Dylan Willis
Those who say Metallica haven't played anything good since the Black album don't know their ass from their mouth!
saw them in 86 Master of puppets tour. still kicking ass to the day. the only ones who have stayed pure
Agree!! I also believe they recovered pretty good at Death Magnetic...
Worst album anyone ever made? Here, sit down. Let me tell you all about a fellow named Justin Bieber.
LULU IS NOT A METALLICA ALBUM!!
Hahahaha!
My 65 year old mother's favorite song. She will sing along with every word... and get so into it she will hit you when it crescendos.
No Leaf Clover Lyrics
[Verse 1]
And it feels right this time
On this crash course with the big time
Pay no mind to the distant thunder
New day fills his head with wonder, boy
Says it feels right this time
Turned around and found the right line
Good day to be alive, Sir
Good day to be alive, he said, yeah

Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Was just a freight train coming your way
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Was just the freight train coming your way, yeah

The combination of the symphony and Metallica is a masterpiece!!
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, is just a freight train coming your way... 🎶
A magnificently perfect song ...
Ultrapassará os séculos.
ITS JUST A FREIGHT TRAN COMIN YOUR WAY YEEAAAAHHHH!
best song i ever listened
I've been lucky enough to witness S&M in Berlin Germany. Been to quite a few concerts but Metallica with a symphonic orchestra topped them all. Awesome experience!
New S&M, this time with Ennio Morricone as conductor
he's dead
Max Arambula Thought so too, but he isnt
Bob Slartibarti really??
Max Arambula He's on tour too ;) www.songkick.com/artists/258945-ennio-morricone
Bob Slartibarti sweet, thanks mate!
I freaking LOVE this song! Screw anyone who can't just like all kinds of music.
Just amazing song! It becomes my favorite last days, I just can't stop listen to it!
The amount of talent in this one band is incredible. No other band comes close. That’s not opinion either that’s a fact. Metallica is the best band ever!
indeed its just a fact nothing to really talk about:)
The lyrics, the song, the melody oooh the beautiful melody * ______ *
Always loved Lars' drumming on this one :)
popkorn One of my favourite pieces by Lars, this performance got me into drumming :)
I put Lars up there with Jim Morrison as musical poets.. only they can you hear thought provoking music, oh and Tu Pac too...
i have literally grown up listening to Metallica and this is by far my favourite song of theirs everrrrr.
every song i listen to is my all time favorite metallica song as I am listening to it :)
my fav aal time Metallica song,masterpiece..and best band members there
People can say what they want about Metallica, and they do, but this shit is really amazing IMO.
Ditto!
99' was theyre pinacle in my personal opinnion St Anger ( album ) on it dosent feel like metallica any more :( and the new song also.... and i bet allot would agre with me on this well mainly my friends thus only one... >.
Eerik Aluste St Anger wasn't supposed to be a normal album, it was more of a therapy to let the band throw all their anger and problems
metalic is my life .
metalic is my life .
