Kudos for the quality of your guest. However, you have to learn the art of interviewing. Your constant interruptions and assumptions of knowledge of the story are a distortion to the flow of the interview. It is needless to be saying 'okay' several times within the interview. It is clearly a noise. Trying to complete his statements and sometimes being wrong is appalling. You have to honestly learn how to conduct an interview.

So after watching and listening to the interview, most of the comments here are alluding to the fact that there was a coup been planned. Obasanjo and Yar'adua were no more in service but were in an advocacy NGO group as civilians. Do you guys know what it takes to carry out a coup especially by some 'bloody' civilians? The only military man involved is him i.e Col. Bello Fadile, who had informed Abacha on what he was up to. On the other hand, the decree that created the ING wasn't annulled yet. IBB left Abacha there, it was obvious they weren't sincere about handing over to a civilian lead ING. One is called 'Maradona' and the other 'Evil genius'. The two of them had an agreement for IBB to hand over to Abacha but for the pressure mounted by the civil society which was what made IBB to step aside.

@@ademolaadeleke2002 The ability of an ADC to truncate a coup is 50/50 not absolute and not impossible.
The ADC is privy to a lot of intelligence and can easily give orders in the name of the CNC especially that this time around, the CNC is one local civilian with know knowledge of the military.
If he was able to galvanize the guards brigade and some GOCs Abacha's coup could fall.
However, Abacha is a master of the game, instead of his coup to fail, heads will role.
Remember, colonel Bello Fadile said if he were the ADC,it probably wouldn't have happened, PROBABLY means it could and it could not.
But Abacha's coup was the easiest coup in the history of Nigeria. It looked more like a drama, there wasn't tension like the one that removed Gowon or Buhari from office.

So? Mr. man, the Abacha story is boring now. In fact as it turns out, Abacha was the fairest of those military and not-so military rulers of that failed state. He was a bit ahead of his time being relentlessly and unjustly pilloried and demonised by a tribalist press cabal. Abacha was a saint compared to what nigeria has become today.

You are wrong. They are all devils. You cannot use one to launder the image of another. Up till now Abacha loot is still being traced. He was an inordinate kleptomania! • @DogonTurenchi-c6y
      @DogonTurenchi-c6y 2 місяці тому

      @@ademolaadeleke2002
Yeah right. You have again returned to your familiar territory- pointless sloganizing and meaningless name-calling, kleptomania bla bla bla. Was he any more of these than anyone else or are you just protecting your own while vandalising the credibility of the dead man?
I repeat, Abacha was a very fair man. Under him, Nigeria was divided into six geo-political zones to ensure fair distribution of federal infrastructure, appointments and other resources and he followed the blue print even with state creation. Today government has become a tribal/family cabal even in a so-called democracy, federal character ignored, etc. Even foreign loans obtained in Nigeria's name are used to build modern railways in selected tribal enclaves and even Niger republic, a different country while the entire eastern flank is pointedly ignored. Can any of those ranting about "Abacha loot" account for the sources of their wealth today? And whatever happened to the "oil windfall" and other loot which are swept under the carpet?
Besides, while others murdered their colleagues for alleged coup plotting, Abacha held them in custody including those who created and ruthlessly applied "decrees" that coup plotters should be executed. Had Abacha followed that "decree", many of those alive today would have been sent to the great beyond same day they were apprehended and nothing would have happened.
Abacha was a Muslim by faith, but he welcomed the Pope to Nigeria and discharged himself creditably as a competent leader unlike today when ethnic exclusion based on religion reigns supreme with some people publicly proclaiming "Ibos will never rule nigeria". The only problem Abacha had was the absence of social media in his days which allowed his credibility to be vandalized by ethnic bigots without right of reply. But that does not mean that the man should be unfairly pilloried even in death by those who are no better than him in any shape or form.

Unfortunately, Nigerians that always judged based on sympathy and hatred wont learn anything. This proved how Abacha was, he set up investigation team to actually know the level of involvement before making arrest. No matter how this man tried to put it, going around mobilizing secretly on how to remove a military head of state was a coup, this man should just say there was a coup. If they had succeeded, they would have stayed in power even longer than Abacha. Obasanjo will never give this details, he will always lie, denied to play the victim. Abacha was too nice , but was always sold badly by the press by the Southern press. All those that said IBB put Abacha there to take over can now cover their heads in shame, because Abacha called the coup planners IBB boys according to Bello.

Check the functionality of your listening skills, you probably don't know how to listen well.
The interviewer wasn't correcting him,he was only interjecting, which is normal in conversation.
Colonel Bello Fadile was a regular combatant who spent the regular 4 years in NDA and later studied law in ABU Zaria,he did most of his military courses abroad,he is nothing close to what you have observed...i advise you check your listening skills.

You GenZ, whenever you hear UK, you use today's situation to make judgment. In the 70s, 80s, and even early 90s, people with good job don't just japa without purpose. Most people travel for education because our Universities don't have some course of study. Can't you hear that one of his children was there when he was arrested. Maybe he has a few members of his family abroad for education reason.
