My time in 90s they cannot touch the recruit because its man handling which is an offence. However, things do fly around and must be retrieve back from the ground floor after the stand by bed. This clip is 70s which is possible officers can do that. ANd yes, during my time some of them are this fierce no exaggeration.
@dufreversi42 we grew up mentally strong and learned how to survive as a team through these hash punishment. Not to say whether it is right or wrong but it did build the close ties between our buddies. And we can even laugh about it after meeting up with the guys.

@@vanceng3447 that one is a bit too much. NSF boys should at least be able to take criticism, scolding or punishment. But I agree the old way is too harsh and uncalled for. Make people do stupid things like leopard crawl on the road or carry your bunk bed from the top floor to the parade square is a no no. There's nothing the nsf recruits do to deserve such punishment. This is NS, not jail, and they are forced to enlist, not punished and thrown in lock up.

It hurts me more to takan u as when u come in...ur parents hand over u to me so i become part time father. Thanks to all that served...miss u that pass see u all outside. ITD Camp1 Charlie Coy. 1980s. Our OO (Orientation Officer a captain in No.4 who looked like a fat old grandfather) gave talk in week 2, said instructors cannot tekan us. It was wayang, we trusted him and told him a few incidents. Walau after the session, the sergeants/corporals accused us of play punk and it was hell for next 3 weeks.
@12347873 the reason why nowadays all mama boys. When you're in the hands of enemy as POWs, you'll expect them to treat you with pride, like a king yea. SG is doomed to depend on NS boys to defend our country nowadays....
Now we treat them nsf like our own...can hit them hard during training but off is like sons or brothers...at night will take a last look if all has blankets on ..some kick them off. Then i go home ...next day 7am see them again. We train hard....train together if its for ippt. Being fit is not only nsf but also instructors as its only natural we got to set a good example. But is hard to b as fit as them in our 50s...still np...unless they wan me b running sub 9 2.4km cause old man a bit diff leh can only do 9:45 .
I like how they couldn't get proper army caps so they had to use baseball caps

If you throw now , you will be charged for high rise littering , One of my Officer during my NS BMT last year got charged for this .
