A friend of mine went to a random small liquor store in TN and found a Thomas Handy for msrp just sitting on the shelf. Sometimes those small random stores in small towns have hidden gems
“They are a great store.” They are charging $250 for Weller 12 and $200 for ER. Both retail for $36. They might be great for bottles that you can get anywhere and everywhere, but they are insane for charging that much for their “top-tier” bourbon.
Had a chance to try Old Kirk and it didn’t disappoint. That Evan Williams single barrel and a great pour without breaking the bank. That second store had some good bottles behind the glass. Great video, even with the mirror jump scare! Cheers!
Out of all small towns in West TN Trenton might be the best in my opinion. Come on up to Newbern or Dyersburg and you can find your small bottle of woodford double oak.

On Friday I checked the BC (Canada) Liquor store site and saw that the 10Yr Michters Bourbon showed up in a couple towns over. I called the store and apparently it was a restaurant order and they ordered too many and returned it. While I was on the phone the guy told me they also returned a Michters Toasted Barrel Strength Rye. They had 3 of each bottle, and ended up scoring both for MSRP which is still high here.... 10YR is 300CAD and the Toasted is $230CAD. Sadly that is a good deal for these here and the lowest they will be. Keep up the hunting videos! Love seeing what you can get in those small towns!
I just wanted to let y’all know, I drove through Paducah yesterday and stopped in a couple stores. Picked up the new traveler whiskey from buffalo trace for $37. I’m sure it will be in your area soon.
@@MajorXero You NEED to go back to House of Spirits and buy that Evan Williams single barrel. And ask if they have more and if they do buy them all!!! Not supposed to see it outside of KY anymore.
Overholt rye 114 is ok... it drank really hot... above it's proof in my opinion and I'm a fan of rye spice. However, it was the first bottle I noticed a difference in the "neck pour". I didn't believe in a neck pour until i got that bottle... it was a lot mellower a couple weeks later.
@MajorXero yes, but when I pour a glass I only let it sit for a few minutes. I don't think anyone thinks that the juice in the neck is different than the juice in the rest of the bottle... it's just stammering how much some of them change when introduced to more air.
That Old Medley 12yr at the first store is really good. Might even beat out Elmer in my opinion 😬 One of the few bourbons I’ve had where I get that dusty whiskey flavor/smell.
Always enjoy seeing what you find on your hunting videos. Gives me hope of finding a unicorn or two chilling on the shelf somewhere. On vacation in the Florida Keys and looking forward to some hunting while here 🥃
I picked up old tub 300ml and it’s not great, I’d take old grand 114 over it any day and I also picked up a bottle that heavens door and was really disappointment for a $50 bottle
A friend of mine gave me a bottle of the Basil Hayden Dark Rye. It’s ok, but it is mixed with Port wine. It’s different, but not horrible. I probably wouldn’t have bought it on my own.

@@MajorXero hahaha ry’t?! I tried to make rye and right into a pun. It almost worked. I live in Ontario(it’s a province) and the liquor is government controlled. So we get some good stuff but mostly it’s from other more fun parts of Canada
The Old Overholt 114 is a solid budget rye, but I actually prefer the Old Overholt Bonded 100 proof. Very unique, herbal and dusty profile rye. I’ve tried the 86 and wasn’t impressed. I just picked up their 10 year cask strength for $99. Haven’t cracked it yet, but I’m looking forward to it.
Nice store and selection. I have the Old Overholt BIB and just ordered the 10 Year Cask Strength. That 114 Proof is supposed to be pretty good. 2nd store had a Russell’s Reserve Private Barrel store pick on the shelf. Those are so good. 🥃
@@MajorXero I went to a small liquor store out in the middle of nowhere here and did find a gold mine. Blantons, Eagle Rare, Bookers, McKenna. Bought my Blantons for 140 and Eagle Rare for 80. There's another liquor store here that sells blantons for 200. 😔
Can you stop with the "gross" on the pot still. Not it's not the greatest and maybe a little overpriced but it's not exactly good or nasty it's just a middle of the road pour. Every time you make you gross comment it's honestly cringe worthy every time you do it. Like a little kid talking about brussel sprouts.
So I will let you know a little secret about youtubers. We do everything for a reason. I say and do things for pacing. I say certain things to slow myself down. I do try and change things up, but I do stick with what works. When I have not mentioned that itnin gross more people complain that I didn't say it. I do truly believe it is gross. With that being said, I will i continue to be cringe because we'll I am a nerd. I am glad you watch my videos, I am sorry that you don't like part of them. You could just watch without sound. I get lots of criticism in the comments and from emails, this is something I do for fun on my lunch break from my regular job and as long as I am having fun I will keep doing it. For a cheap pour that overholt 114 is very good. Especially for a rye.

We can't get OGD 114 here and for 20 bucks you can't beat it. I had the heaven door and it won on a blind I was a part of
