I probably have the exact same facial expression when Su starts to sing in Shine. It's the sweetest sound ever. There are times when I start to cry just from the beauty of her voice. Pure magic!
Five Babymetal songs in one night from VERDY channel?? That is a very nice evening! :) It made me laugh when you said you were smiling so much your face hurt. I saw them live back in 2019 and even long after I got back to my hotel room I walked past the mirror and noticed I still had a smile plastered on my face from the concert. I didn't even realize I was still smiling. It was like it was frozen there. :D
Wow, you did the whole Trilogy!! A really heartfelt reaction, feeling the music and the intensity! These are some of the best Live performances I’ve seen. All are amazing, but my favorite from the whole trilogy is Arkadia. Btw, the Arkadia Live version that they played at The Forum in the US is also amazing! This footage ua-cam.com/video/n-w57dNi3_s/v-deo.htmlm16s has bits from The Forum concert, but the audio is fully from that show. SU-Metal, at the end, thanks the US audience for coming to see BM ;) (at around 5m16s)
Thank you for doing my request on Patreon. 🙏🏻 I truly love this band, and it really moves Me and makes Me happy to see reactors like you loving it as well. 😊 and yes, Su's vocals hits Me right in the feels always
SU-METAL voice pierce through any loudest instrument, straight into your soul. There are many better singers but her vocal and the way she sing is just super rare gift, combined with years of hard work and now we've seen how force of a nature she is on stage. The second verse on SHINE after the interlude guitars is my favorite part, so passionate.
This. Her voice and way of singing may not be for everyone but I watched these performances many times and I still tear up. Su's voice is soul- and heart-piercing from her early years on and is still getting more emotive, not fair :-).
True, Su's voice is so powerful and can perfectly cut through the music! The first time KOBA hired the Kami Band, he said to them: "Don't hold back with the music because they are kids or because they are girls" Su said she likes to sing "Starlight" since she can go so high! Fun Fact: Starlight is the first song where they used a 9 stringed guitar in the studio version. About the black robes, they were introduced in 2018, and both the Japanese musician and the American ones wear black robes and masks. What you can tell with the black robes is that it was after 2018, and with the masks that it was from 2019 or after :D You should train your smile, so you can afford to watch an entire show of theirs without having the cheeks hurting xD
Wow 2 reactions and 5 so gs in one day, what a great surprise! Great reaction as usual and I am especially happy that you picked the Legend M performance of “Shine” which is probably the most emotional of all of them. The big stage for “Arkadia” was at Makuhari Messe for the Legend Metal Galaxy show in 2020. Babymetal has played there a couple of times bit they always come up with new, incredible stage design and they production is always on another level.
I love Starlight and Shine so much but still can't listen to them in public because they CONSTANTLY make me shed a tear knowing the meaning behind them. 1st world problems, lol.
Excellent reactions again, thank you. Were you told what the Trilogy of Lights is about? Just in case you were not told - they describe the stages of mourning we go through after losing somebody close. 'Starlight' - the initial grief and even anger 'Shine' - acceptance and coming to terms with the loss 'Arkadia' - moving on, looking to the future and better times to come. Together they could pretty much describe the year BABYMETAL had in 2018. Many fans believe (and this has never been said or even hinted at by anybody in or associated with BABYMETAL, so it is just a theory and may be entirely misguided) that they pay tribute to Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka (RIP) who so tragically died 4 years ago on 5th January 2018 after falling from an observation deck where he had been stargazing - he was a keen amateur astronomer. The lyrics of 'Starlight' make it hard not to believe this is so. Su has also said that she thinks of Yui when she sings 'Starlight' and how she would have danced to this song. The single and official video were released on the same day that Yui announced she was leaving the band in October 2018, so it could equally be a tribute to her. The Legend M performance of 'Shine' is, for me, Su-metal's finest vocal performance and with Moa's choreo and harmonies and the guitar on stage, quite possibly their most emotional as well. Then 'Arkadia' is just incredibly uplifting and optimistic.
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。Other knowledgeable viewers like Grington300 300 and Rick Wagner will give you comments on the background and implication of the Trilogy and two Kami Bands. I would like to tell you what Su & Moa talked about it after the one and only performance of the 3 songs played in a low on LGM Day-2 (Jan.26, 2020) : Su : It may be something like a compiled history of BABYMETAL. Or may be a new start or a story in a different dimension. The performance, however, was a kind of our determination and I had an image like a work of huge spectacles. Moa : That part of the concert had a tremendous gravity with various feelings packed into it. I could have written a story book. We also put a lot of sentiments into these songs. By the trilogy, I really wanted to send the messages of determination by Su-Metal and Moametal. Our passion with that we will thrust BABYMETAL this way in the future. So I got right to my heart myself. 【excerpt of answers in an interview in a magazine "Bessatsu KADOKAWA" issue of Oct. 2020 [Page 167-168] ... translated by myself】
All 3 at once five BabyMetal reactions in a day Thank you 😁 you just made my day . Absolutely love this Trilogy and you did the emotional masterpiece Su and Moa Legend M version of Shine ❤ 🤘🦊🤘
Absolutely amazing, thanks! I believe that experiencing the trilogy is better than the sum of the three songs individually. Although I personally prefer "Arkadia" because it's my thing, I cannot ignore "Starlight" and "Shine". Being the last (in my opinion) one of Su's finest works as a vocalist. It's all passion! And yeah, Su's voice... so delicate, so powerful, so perfect!
They are a magical band. Your reactions remind of that. These three songs, and ‘Kagerou’ just before them, on the record add up to a pretty amazing conclusion to the “Metal Galaxy” album. They never disappoint. “Shine” & particularly this performance, always gives me chills.Thought to be a tribute to their late guitarist Mikio Fujioka, Su’s perfect voice coupled with Moa’s elegance makes the emotional bond between them almost tangible. When they walk off together as the guitar keeps playing (Mikio’s spirit plays on perhaps?) it is very moving.
👏👏👏👏👏 Wow, nice to see you did all three in a row. As some people would point out, these three songs, represent stages of loss (mikio and/or Yui).... Starlight for me is very much reperesentative of the first stage of losing someone ... It starts out peaceful, like you think you are ok with the loss, but then it kicks into an agressive and fast abruptly changing rhythms, like the switch to anger and pain for that loss..... Starlight (absolute beautiful performance with just Moa and Su) the lyrics describe the path they are on now, being together, continuing on their journey, finding strength from each other and going on.... Arkadia, as another reactor once described it as Road of Resistance 2, full of positive energy, optimism, and has the best shot of Su smiling. 😁😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘
Nice reaction @Verdy! The drummer of Kami band (White clothes) is Hideki Aoyama, his Father and Brother also are pro drummers. From Kami Band West (Black clothes), the drummer is Anthony Barone, Try "Kagerou", "Amore" and "Syncopation", they also have nice solos. To tell the truth, all BabyMetal have amazing melody.
Great job👊🏽⚡️These 3 songs could actually be 1 song. Reminds me of Rush 2112. These songs (or song) show a real evolution of songwriting and performance for Babymetal. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
As you may recall from the Guide, Starlight was introduced the same day YUI left BM officially, way before the release of Metal Galaxy. It already featured the intro of Shine in the last part of the official video, that was quite the hint. When Metal Galaxy went out I was struck by both Shine and Arkadia, yet we didn't have the whole picture until their MG Legend Dark Night. The Trilogy of Light is stunning, so beautiful, the pinnacle of BM music production so far. 🤘🏻🦊⚡
07:32 In 2019, both Kami Bands were wearing the same black, masked costumes. It's easiest to look at their instruments to know which Kamis are playing.
What I love about the chorus...when Su sings "Fly higher in the sky" and "fly higher in the night" you can hear in the background "Stargazer" between Su's lines. RIP Mikio....Mikio Fujioka (BM's Guitarist) died after falling from a Viewplatform he visited to gaze at the stars...
Nice!!! Looks like you used the link from Babymetal Reactor Resources and I want to recommend the Babymetal song in the next reaction if you ask for song suggestions, namely Ijime, Dame, Zettai Live Legend Metal Galaxy D2 and Syncopation Live Legend M 🤘🦊
... this trilogy was a tribute to their late guitarist Mikio Fujioka. check the lyrics of "Starlight" and "Shine" ... you will understand. ** Mikio died by accidentally falling down from a observatory tower, while star-gazing. :'( ... these songs always make me cry
Thank you for reacting these beautiful Three piece of magic!!! i always get emotional listening Trilogy of Lights. Rest in Peace Mikio sensei! Miss my Tomato Queen Yui... 🍅🍅❤❤
you can easily say what kami band it is by looking at the instruments! if you see the bassist playing that big 6-stringer Atelier bass and the guitarists playing the pink (sometimes takayoshi plays Mikios old guitar too, which is orange and has the same shape) or the "headless" guitar (Leda Cygnus), its the eastern kami. Western Kami guitarists have most time flamed maple guitars (looks like tiger stripes). And yes, Suzuka's voice is just outstanding. Always get the goosebumps when she sings Shine.
Starlight in honor of Yuimetal when she's live the band in 2017, Shine in honor of Mikio Fujioka he dies in 2018 and Arkadia talk about the new path, about the future and the new beginning of the band.
Actually this was never confirmed by anyone, but we could say that most likely Starlight was a tribute to both Mikio and Yui, since Mikio died while stargazing, and Yui also liked the stars
If you enjoy Japanese bands I highly recommend Wednesday Campanella. Very interesting music. Buckingham ua-cam.com/video/HKiTKAWNvYk/v-deo.html Alice ua-cam.com/video/nBwT2Sgb1yY/v-deo.html Player1 - Valorant ua-cam.com/video/QNwOEyBefMI/v-deo.html
The power of Su's voice to make us smile or cry is astounding. Let's hope she and Moa are able to tour again soon.
Thankfully they are. Seeing them live in about a month :) So happy about finally seeing them. Also...Momometal was a GREAT addition!!

"Starlight" (2018)
"Elevator Girl" (2019)
Background and release:-
"Starlight" was first teased on October 4, 2018, as part of a trailer for Babymetal's first graphic novel, Apocrypha: The Legend of Babymetal (2018). The song was briefly made available on the band's official UA-cam channel on October 18, 2018 before being made unavailable. The song was officially released the following day, along with the official announcement of Yui Mizuno's departure from the band.
Su-metal has stated she enjoys singing the high parts in the middle of the track, linked to the choreography.
It is widely speculated by fans that the song is meant to be a tribute to Mikio Fujioka, a former live guitarist for the band who died earlier that same year.
Composition:-
"Starlight" was described as "pretty djenty" by Greg Kennelty of Metal Injection. Scott Munro of Metal Hammer commented that the song "starts off slowly but soon kicks into a frantic pace, complete with catchy chorus, thundering drums and slabs of crunching guitars", while Billboard called it a "ferocious and heavy melody that explores their signature hybrid of metal riffs and infectious vocal attacks".
Reception:-
"Starlight" debuted at number 41 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 for the week of October 29, 2018, with 1,150 first-week equivalent units. The following week, the song rose to number 24, with 1,637 equivalent units. Due to being released exclusively in a digital format, the song charted at number nine on the Oricon Digital Singles chart for the week October 28, 2018, with first-week downloads of 8,666 copies. In the United States, "Starlight" debuted at number seventeen and four on the Billboard World Hard Rock Songs and Billboard World Digital Songs charts, respectively, for the week November 3, 2018.
Lyrics Overview:-
時空を 超えて 解き放て far away
走り 続け 遥か彼方 run away
The wind blows, the wind blows
Fly higher in the sky
Fly higher in the night
Starlight, starlight
光照らす その先へ
Starlight, starlight
探し 求め 駆け抜けて get away
記憶の欠片 デジャヴ メジャヴ fade away
Dreaming now, dreaming now
Fly higher in the night
Fly higher in the sky
Starlight, starlight
光放つ あの場所へ
Starlight, starlight
Wherever we are, we'll be with you
We'll never forget shining starlight
Wherever you are, you live in my heart
We'll never forget shooting star
Wherever we are, we'll be with you
We'll never forget shining starlight
Wherever you are, you live in my heart
We'll never forget shining star
Fly higher in the sky

"Shine"
The second instalment of the "TRILOGY OF LIGHTS" after "Starlight". This song fans assume was dedicated to guitarist" Mikio Fujioka" who passed away in Jan 2018 & "Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal)" who left Babymetal in Nov 2018 due to undisclosed health issue.
The guitar which Moametal plays is a replica if not is one of Mikio Fujioka acoustic guitar 🎸. It represents the Analogy of Mikio Fujioka who passed away and Yuimetal who left Babymetal. "Starlight" is about remembering, "Shine" is about acceptance and "Arkadia" is looking forward to the future. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤟🤘.
'Shine' is about acceptance. Su-Metal and Moametal accepted the fact that Mikio Fujioka is watching over Babymetal and Yuimetal is no longer with Babymetal. Even though Moametal doesn't really playing the guitar which she could, the mood of which this song captivate and portray is mesmerising. Su-Metal and Moametal performed this song for each other and for current and former members of Babymetal. The acoustic guitar which Moametal plays is one of Mikio replica if not his collection which Mikio have. They are leaving the memories that Babymetal created together but not forgotten. Great reaction always. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤘🤘🇯🇵🇸🇬.

Babymetal Arkadia:-
The third and last instalment of the "TRILOGY OF LIGHTS". Arkadia is a very slow song by BABYMETAL but with a tempo of 100 BPM. It can also be used double-time at 200 BPM. The track runs 5 minutes and 19 seconds long with a C♯/D♭ key and a major mode. It has high energy and is not very danceable with a time signature of 4 beats per bar. "Road Of Resistance" is a battle cry and ready for war song but "Arkadia" is a more of a victory after a long battle and looking forward to a better future. BABYMETAL is relentless and you have to give respect to Metal drummers for the stamina and endurance given by them in every concert.

Arkadia
Song by BABYMETAL
Lyrics Overview:-
Dwell in a small chest
嗚呼小さな胸に宿る
The pieces that light the fire in the dark
暗闇に火を灯す欠片は
Dazzling light
嗚呼眩しく光纏い
Shine shines in the moment
輝きは刹那に迸る
Glorious, you just be ambitious!
Glorious, you just be ambitious!
Proudly raise the flag
誇り高く旗を掲げて
Glorious, you just be ambitious!
Glorious, you just be ambitious!
Holding a piece of star
星の欠片を抱いて
Now For your dream, for your faith, for your life
今 For your dream, for your faith, for your life
The map of the future that has begun to move is in you
動き始めた未来の地図は君の中にある
Now No more tears, no more pain, no more cry
今 No more tears, no more pain, no more cry
Far away from that light
あの光の彼方へ遥か遠く
Aim for the dream Arcadia
目指すは夢のアルカディア
Faster than light and stronger than steel
光より速く鋼より強く
Don't be afraid of your mission
使命の道に怖れなく
No matter how much darkness is covered
どれほどの闇が覆い尽くそうと
Let's walk this way we believed
信じたこの道を歩こう
For your dream, for your faith, for your life
For your dream, for your faith, for your life
The songs of the era when they started to move resonate with dreams
動き始めた時代の歌は夢に響き合う
Now No more tears, no more pain, no more cry
今 No more tears, no more pain, no more cry
Far away to the land of that oath
あの誓いの大地へ遥か遠くへ
Shining Arcadia

RIP Mikio. Always remembered. Yui, you are missed. Health & happiness.
... this trilogy was a tribute to their late guitarist Mikio Fujioka. check the lyrics of "Starlight" and "Shine" ... you will understand.
Another way to recognize them is that the Western Kami Band members are more hairy on their arms xD
I was there.
Next time, you'll be there.
🤘👻❤️🦊🦊🦊❤️👻🤘
Starlight in honor of Yuimetal when she's live the band in 2017, Shine in honor of Mikio Fujioka he dies in 2018 and Arkadia talk about the new path, about the future and the new beginning of the band.
Mikio little God 4ever. One of the best guitarists I’ve heard. What a loss, but that smile of his, lives on.
Actually this was never confirmed by anyone, but we could say that most likely Starlight was a tribute to both Mikio and Yui, since Mikio died while stargazing, and Yui also liked the stars
Yet another great reaction! Many people believe that the lyrics to "Arkadia" are about Yui and her health problems.
Verdy, you're so beautiful. I hope you react to DOLL$BOXX shout down / karakuri town live.
If you enjoy Japanese bands I highly recommend Wednesday Campanella. Very interesting music.
