Love watching you guys and your chit chat and all I've learned about my home state farmers. Lived there but never on the farm just visited Howard in the summer at friends farm..........boy some good eaten during harvest time and some hard work by all........how the gals cooked for the harvest guys who came in to eat at end of day........those fellas could eat.........worked hard all day and ate a good dinner and then started again at the crack of dawn to stay out of the heat.....that was back in the DAY.........long ago. Never will forget that and it was some of the best memories ever. God bless Merry Christmas and stay Blessed
I make & use the same "barbwire gate". I found a short ratchet strap work great at the top. It will stretch the fence wire a few feet beyond the gate on both sides plus the gate. And, it releases to make opening or closing quick & easy. Love the humor "made working cattle a dream". Put a "bull" band on the horns & they will drop off in 30-45 days. Yea haw!
I was helping my dad work some small calves one day, he had me run them up in the shute and hold them while he gave them a few shots. They were pretty small so I had to hold them so they couldn't wiggle out, after the 1st or 2nd I spun around to go get the next one the bar on the top of the shute was so close I couldn't see it clocked the bridge of my nose so hard I seen stars lol but had to cowboy up and not be a wuss helping dad. Next morning noticed I had a huge bruise across the bridge of my nose lol!!! Took dad to the sale barn in Platte all the guys looked at me like "that poor lady get's beat horribly " and here I was just trying to keep up with dad and keep going lol!!! Watching you work calves reminded me of that lol you learn something new every day. Your dad is quite the comedian, y'all make a great pair.
Farmed with my dad the last 20 yrs. Lost him last year. You guys remind me of us working together. No matter what happened during the day we were happy to do it all agian the next day.
So glad you found it. Someone could buy a fancy house or herd of cows on you, Brian. Unless you had just paid for your ( was it 99 new cattle). Losing a c HH ckbk is no laughing matter.
Watching that calf bolt out of the shute at 6:51 made me think of Cole when he sneaks into the kitchen to see what is for supper and discovers a roast in the slow cooker. Merry Christmas everyone!

Yea, We remember Marlin Perkins and his side kick, Jim. Yea were old! Did a good job of stringing that barb wire fence. We did high tensile about 20 years ago around the entire farm. Ain't nothing better than a liability fence!!!!!! Love the stories and that hydraulic chute. Wish we would have that back when. I just pull the rope to lock them in the stanchion. Oh well.... Love your channel!!
That gate needs some WD-40. It makes my stomach think on fingernails on a chalk board. Wouldn't scare the cows so bad either. We had angus & they did not like our squeaky big barnyard gate.
Brian, I can well sympathize with your Back Pain I have RA in the lower spine and the pain is never ending. I'm 2 weeks from being 76 And have been on Every RA Drug there is, only to have developed an allergy to all of them, So Pain is a way of life with Me. I use a Cane and walker now. Ya gotta keep moving, or you're Done!!

Just started watching your channel a couple days ago, LOVE IT. Throughout the summer and fall, I learned about farming soybeans and corn from Cole the Cornstar and Larson Farms. Now I'm learning about the cattle industry from you all. I've never lived on a farm, but my whole life I lived in a small town and was always fascinated with any sort of farming. I guess my learning is, better late then never, even though I'm pushing sixty. Am anxious to continue watching your channel. I absolutely LOVE your dad, what a hoot he is, always has a joke for the video 💗. Take care guys, see ya in the next one. 👍🙏😎

What you do do with cattle is what l liked.do with cattle . 1) If Jeff isn't feeling good, be careful. I know you guys are all pretty healthy, but I had it mid-November. It was like the worst body aches I've ever had, temp fluctuations, and worst of all I lost my sense of taste for 7-8 days. That was awful and in some cases it hasn't come back for people. Be careful fellas. 2) Could you get a 5 gallon bucket or other trash bin to keep out there by the picnic table when working cattle? Less crawling around and picking up trash. Take it easy on your back, Brian. My grandpa had horrible back pain for the last 15 years of his life because he got thrown from a horse. Any little thing helps to avoid stress on the back.
The whole virus thing isn’t nearly as dangerous as the government would like us to believe. Yes it’s a real thing, but the government has killed more people by locking us down then it’s worth.
