I absolutely adore Love is War for introducing Ishigami as your run of the mill one dimensional character whose only trait is "audience, you can relate right?", but over the course of the 3 seasons (and especially over the course of the manga) gets arguably more character development than the main characters themselves.
I like to think that it's their way of telling the audience that you WILL get better if you try. And you WILL save someone if you lend out a helping hand, even if it is so effortless for you.
there are 2 perspectives in the series. Kaguya and President are the beasts of the school wich not everyone can relate to but can enjoy. And ishigamy is the guy who is just starting to grow and so people can relate to him way more. A really genius series
But Ishigami really had a character development and even relationship development with Kaguya since he had actually confidence to arm wrestle with her instead of fearing he might get killed lmao
He was just a relatable character until the backstory and character development, then he not only became extremely relatable but also he became THE GOAT. My favorite character in all anime.
0:43 this scene is literally perfection. As if Ishigami putting so much strength that it feels like his soul went with the force was not enough to make this scene hilarious they put a remixed version of We Will Rock You to just finish me off. This is a scene that I start laughing just from remembering it.
His backstory was so relatable to me and I absolutely loved his decision on how to deal with it. His romantic parts are a little less relatable but I really felt for the guy...

Just finished season 1 and it was kinda hard to get through. It grew on me after a few episodes and some parts were nice, some episodes are more hilarious than others, but its basically two idiots in love who can't just admit their emotions out of pride (and embarrassment) but its also exagerated like they do a lot in anime (mostly sports, and that one cooking one) and make everyhing out to be bigger than it really is (I had to get uaed to the narrator, too. I'm more used to that in fighting and shonen anime.) I honestly might not have stuck it out if I hadn't watched clips of this online, Ishigami and Fujiwara are the funniest part of this for me. The main couple is a little frustrating (just come out and admit you like each othe already smh) but I'll continue the series mainly because of the other two.
He's the real protagonist, if shirogane wasn't there kaguya would've fallen for him, Bruh had his senpai all over him, the childhood friend, and if he wanted any other one he would had gotten her. Tbh shirogane if he didn't met, kaguya would had been with hayasaka.
