Oh boy, this band is a recent discovery for me, I can tell without any trace of doubt that this is the most interesting band in the genre in about 20 years. It has something to offer, unique , musically and lyrically their concept is mind blowing
i listened to a lot of established metal bands and pop, hip hop and all that for a few years, didn't really have a circle to share music with, then some random happenstance got me into "Metal Twitter" and the OSDM "cosmic" and "caveman" bands last year, Blood Incantation quickly becoming my favorite, obviously, and I've spent the entire year since then catching up on so much sick shit. 2019 has been an amazing year for death metal, extreme metal, and music in general, and even though I was aware of Starspawn back in 2016, I'm glad I only really got into BI last year, so I had months and months to wear that album out just in time for HHOTHR to be announced/released. Sorry for the paragraph lol. Also just barely saw them live for the first time with Haunter and Immolation last month.
@thunder bird Definitely. I distinctly remember a well cited section of David Mathisen's book, "The Undying Stars", that essentially places the Mithraic cult as the secret society that fomented and manipulated Christianity into place, with the cult pulling the strings behind the scene the entire time, as if they were the nerve center. According to the cited research, Rome was basically a host, but then became a husk, hence the break to Byzantium/Constantinople/Istanbul. The more things change...
i saw blood incantation at the warfield this past october, and literally this band opened my mind to such wonderous, illusory, metaphoric experiences. never have i had this experience with any other band. truly amazing to have seen them live, especially that i took my daughter to see them, amazing band!
The amount of edge on this video nearly tore my skull in half and I can in fact see and understand how the world is going to end one day and i am entirely at peace with it
i was thinking with all the stuff in space, and the focus on cuneiform, maybe more Zecharia Sitchin. But yeah, I wasn't entirely sure if the video was going down the "ancient alien gods" or the "ancient human high civilisation" route. On a relevant note in regards to the latter, Rene Noorbergen's "Secrets of the Lost Races: New Discoveries of Advanced Technology in Ancient Civilisations" is an enjoyable book.
probably the fist really unique death metal band that appeared in last 2 decades. this has quality and structure and uniqeness of early starts of real death metal legends like nocturnus, atheist, incantation, morbid angel and so on....
Totally agree. You can tell they're inspired by those early death bands without just copying them. They're both going back to the roots and pushing the genre to new grounds at the same time. I hope to hear more death metal bands do this. It's technical and progressive without sounding like they're just doing robotic wanking.
@@v.pestilent its amazing ambient album. Its just not death metal. And they had momets like that in past, and knowing their live for the genre, it was expected. Its just not for everyone. Nor is death metal actually.
@@v.pestilent LOL! That you call shit album is a brilliant move from the artistic point of view, why nobody can realize that people just want to get out from their confort zone doing and express without creativity boundaries? The dark ambient/drone of Blood Incarnation is a gem.
Late to the comments, but I love this album. This first half of this song (after the ambient intro) sounds like a drugged out study of classic Rush. Love it!
That is the intro that will play as the Earth is sucked through the bowels of the Universe for not obeying the Master Race. The Alien Race. Godspeed everyone. It's been nice knowing ya.
Caught Blood Incantation live on Saturday with Immolation, and they played a few songs from the new album. Suffice it to say that the new material is brutal as hell and I can't wait to hear it again in recorded form! \m/

I dont want to start a Tool discussion under a Blood incantation video but I really don't get the hype with tool, for me they're neither technical nor progressive or that special. I'd love to hear some explanation in regards to their musical relevancy.
My first thought was that it definitely has a Leviathan/Blood Mountain era Mastodon vibe to it. The main riff sounds really close to the opening riff in Sleeping Giant

I’m in the middle of reading a book (I’m halfway done) for a paper that’s due in two days and I stopped when I heard about this.
Joe Yuzwa Don’t blame you. Starspawn was and still is top-tier death metal. This is highly anticipated along with Nile and Cattle Decapitation.

Sad state of metal today tbh.
