i hate fighting this so much in a BB, it's like you either get bounces or overpens regardless of angle. And mf has more range than you anyway

Idk about you, but my experience shooting the Hindy has been pretty hilarious. The thing explodes when I shoot at it with BB size guns at almost any range, and explodes with heavy cruiser guns at less than 10k
I built my Hindy into a lighthouse build and I have so much fun when playing. Turns out not having to consider whether not to reveal yourself makes the game so much fun to be able to never stop shooting.
Such a versatile ship. I had good memories with german cruiser line, from Yorck onwards to Hinderburg.

@@ViperGTS737 Sounds like you played her before the rebalancing to her shells. Back in the day the HE and AP shells behaved completely differently to eachother, to the point one felt German and the other felt American. These days? Much more consistent. Her biggest problem is the problem all cruisers at all tiers suffer; she eats big damage if a BB decides it doesn't like her.
Nah, have a lot of problems with the Roon. Need to learn to play with these kind of ships

Could not agree more. I am a cruiser main and Hindy was the first ship I got a Kraken with. I play her with range mod, only close in in the 2nd half of the game. Change AP and HE often, they're both great. She can always fit in, whereas a Wooster is more situational. I have no problems with her accuracy but perhaps that's because I use range mod. Hindy and Nevsky are my favorite T10 cruisers, and Hindy by far my favorite heavy cruiser.
If I may insist, try a Plane in the Sky+ Spotter Mod in Slot 1 build as the video shows. It gives you 6? charges of Spotter plane that has more than 50% uptime.
That way, you have the range and can mount the reload mod to increase DPM.
Hindenburg for me is the most versatile ship there is. You can play it the way you like it. I‘m running a lighthouse build atm for the faster reload. And yeah, it’s rough sometimes. But it’s also so much fun 😇
I recently was playing Hindenburg in ranked and was pleasantly surprised by how much damage it (still) outputs. Getting into close range fights is harder than it was years ago, but it's definitely comfortable to play at all ranges and you have a tool for almost every situation. My biggest complaint with the ship is honestly the lack of speed - at 31.5 kts it might be the slowest tier X cruiser, and it feels like there's also been some speed powercreep over the years. The additional heal has been nice on the durability side, but just a small bump in speed would feel so nice.
Yep - really like Hindenburg.

Whenever you play Hindenburg I get somewhat jealous in my Zao.
I'd say the Hindenburg is everything the Zao would like to be.
The accuracy advantage doesn't hold up with everything else the Hindenburg offers.
Haven't grinded the German cruiser line at all though ...
I feel like the true zao upgrade is the Venezia. High accuracy, great ballistics, high range and high alpha on a ship with decent concealment. Main difference is the Venezia has more hp, is actually a tanky ship and has an amazing exhaust smoke for additional survivability. Oh, and sap is just disgusting.
I still love Zao. The great maneuverability and the constant fear of misplaying and getting blapped is pretty exciting.

I'm a DD main who doesn't own a cruiser above T8. One night in Clan Battles, we decide to meme with an all cruiser line for three games. I ran the rental Hindy and got in 80k damage while staying alive. Seemed solid, certainly easy to learn.
This was my first T10 and I’m now revisiting it to try to bump my stats because dang I was pretty average at best when I finished grinding the ship. I also run the eye in the sky/spotter plane mod1 combo on Hindy and I absolutely love it. You basically have plane available whenever you want! Thanks for sharing, great video.
She was one of my first T10 ships and I really like her. But the amount of 30mm overmatch BBs these days can make her painful to play. You can angle perfectly but the guns smash you anyway for 15k+ damage.
The guns though are nice, the 50mm HE pen is really good at letting you farm Soviet Cruisers. The issue I have with the AP is the low penetration at range, flat broadside Petro at 14km and you can't get citadels on them.
well Petro has armor more akin to Battlecruisers or some low tier battleships, many other cruisers ~203mm would end up in same situation (unless they have boosted AP pen like Russians...)
@@arczer2519 hinden does have weak ap pen tho, might not make a difference on petro but it does on other stuff
Hindi was my first tier X so she has a special spot for me, cruiser is definitely the best german line for me
I remember discovering how powerful German CA AA was. Carriers tend to never strike me twice, unless they have to.
Yeah the HE alpha is lower on the german ships but I always make the argument that vs BB you arent shattering as much and you have the ability to farm multiple sections not just superstructure so it compensates for the lack of alpha plus the AP has the highest alpha out of all the 203mm guns in the game, I really love this ship probably my favourite tier 10 ship, and as you said its so versatile so when I am loading up im not sitting there hoping for matchmaker to give me what I want to make the ship shine it just works in so many scenarios
Love mine, my favorite T10 bar none. Had a great time in 1 v 1 Brawl. Reload build with the legendary module and Lutjens is a great combination for me.
For someone like me who doesnt play this game all the time Hindenburg is amazing. I often find myself struggling with overly specialized ships after i returned to WoWs after a break. Then i just play some Hinden matches and its a blast. There are only few situations where this ship can be a let down but many where it shines. Perfect Jack of all trades. Still holds my overall dmg record of 309k, not counting arms race of course.
The only wish i got for her is a bit more speed, like 1.5-2 knots more. Its getting ridiculous with all the unrealistically fast BBs which also overmatch and outspot many Cruisers...
I don't have either of the ships mentioned but I can sense the frustration. We give this game our time they should do the same for us!

I’m currently grinding for the Hindenburg right now in credits. Using every single ship I got to get as many credits as I can to finally buy the ship and smack some upgrades on her too. I honestly can’t wait to play her because I’m gonna be up close and personal and she’s got everything she needs for that one simple task of mine😁👍🔥
It's a lovely ship indeed, Potato described the ship quite well, just want to emphasize that up close and personal is rarely a scenario I encountered with the ship, and I've played it quite a lot.
Speaking as a Hindy main, I'm afraid you may be disappointed if close range combat is all you want out of it. The 430-457mm gun powercreep the game has experienced in the last 2-3 years have made trying to get close a death sentence unless you're really good with positioning, concealment, and have a lot of luck with map and spawn location rng. Nothing but the main belt strip is enough to bounce those shells, and generally the shells are gonna come down on your deck or extremities, which are all 27-30mm and completely overmatchable. And sadly, it looks like the same is gonna apply to Clausewitz as well.
@@RPGTKingpin oh believe me I understand the harsh reality of what I want to do when I play Hindi, but even so I don’t give two shits about how the game is in it’s current state with all the air cancer, subs, overmatch, and other shit too. If I take like a 20k volley of shells to the face and I’m still alive then you best believe that I’m still smacking that W key until I kill those son of a bitches😂😂. I’m here to have fun, not sit in spawn and snipe for 20 minutes. Hell, even if I die in it early I still got 50 other ships in my dockyard to play with until I get her back. buddy, get petro or schlieffen if you only wanna be up close and personal. hindenburg is not tanky enough to just charge in, you need to know when to sit back and farm.
Yep, that thing is just consistent and good in every situation.
I've got my Hindenburg up to 20 km range with 11 to 12 km concealment.

thats a good build, i might try that when i have some disposable capt xp to change my build. currently mines a long range tank build with really fast damage control and flooding/fire recovery

Love hindy although I don't play it very often anymore. German cruisers have been a favorite of mine for a long time. Although, I had one hell of a game in the Neptune. I for some reason cannot play mino well at all but Neptune works for me. Strange
I’ve had a close encounter with a Hindenburg in my Puerto Rico and I couldn’t citadel him even though he was broadside to me
There is an old flamu video where he shows that hinder can't be cit at close ranges even with a Yamato because of the turtle back... Yeah it will eat full pens but no cits
My absolute favorite CA. Pair it with Gunther and a little bit of skill and it’s an HE monster.

Nah, Hindenburg is the jack of all trades, in almost all situations there are specific cruisers which would do better. Just, Hindenburg isn't bad at anything really, unlike all those other cruisers which can do something better, but a lot of things worse.

With the introduction of submarines I prefer my Agir over my Hindenburg. Agir has a larger health pool, nearly triple the torpedo damage reduction, and air strikes instead of depth charges. Sigh.
legy mod is only worth on full lighthouse built... but on that its awesome

Hindenburg is the ship I recommend for newer "prospects" in my clan if they're looking for a cruiser. We train up some newer players and I've yet to find one that dislikes Hindenburg.
Her greatest strength is also her greatest weakness meta-wise. She's a versatile jack-of-all-trades, master of none sort of ship. For randoms, the rest of that proverb is accurate, as it means she's useful in any situation. But in competitive, where you always want to be seeking out the best ship for each role, she isn't as useful to the team as something like a DM for close range fire support, or Venezia for kiting/DD-killing, or a Nevsky for long range firestarting capabilities. As a Hindy main I wish she had a core role in a competitive meta, but sadly that isn't the case. I typically end up playing a Petro or Moskva instead when playing competitive because my main just isn't viable for that context.
Anytime I play the Hindy, I'd rather play my Nevsky. Better accuracy and seems to hit a lot harder.

I don't really like the way they game designers neutered their armor scheme, but they're still pretty tanky aside from the odd smash at long range. To be fair every cruiser has that weakness so it's not fair to judge based on long range blappery. The HE pen absolutely cleans house though.

She is my go-to for ranked if I want to enjoy myself while playing, and not have to be super sweaty like in a DD. Before the ecomony/tier 10 rework I would make a ton of money from her game to game. She is the only tech tree ship I am considering adding the economic boost to (permanent one). She fits my play style of maneuver/juking instead of sitting behind islands. She can play at all ranges in a very all-around sort of way. She really seems to have everything needed to fit in with the current meta such as fast firing guns, hydro, torps, just enough armor, and speed/turning ability. The lack of radar can hurt, and she would be OP with it, but she is versatile enough to make up for that in most game so long as you can support your DD's.
I can run her up with DD's to help at caps, and push if needed, or turn tail and troll with the armor and rear guns while falling back till not-detected and re-position. I do think her gun layout is ideal for most games with the 4 turret, 2 front and 2 rear, means you can always have decent firepower available. Knowing your targets and swapping out shells a lot is key though, the AP in the ship will do some crazy damage to most targets and I've messed up a lot of side on cruisers with a full broadside at range, and made BB's think twice about showing me their sides.
I will say I don't think she is good enough to carry every game, a DD is still king in ranked for that, but you will give them one hell of a hard time.
So many people bad mouth the hindy in ranked. Gearing too... These are old ships but great jack of all trade ships. Sturdy reliable.

Im not a fan of the hindy, which is a shame, cause I really like the look of the ship. I just cannot for the life of me seem to make the manoeuvrability and firing angles work for me. I have tried rudder mod and CE but its just too sluggish to be an ultra-mobile cruiser imo, probably because my go-to is DM with leg mod and brisk equipped.

Man I want the hindy right? But I've been unable to get it for like 3 years plus, just because I had such a bad time with York that I quit the line for 3 years... Then, last year, I got the Roon and God dammit that ship is stuck forever in port... I can't seem to like it nor want to play it, the ship is weird the he is anemic the butt guns have bad firing angles its just a bad time overall...

For me its boring to play as most of the time its played like a heavy cruiser version of the Smolensk.
Close range can be more interesting, but that doesn't happen all that often.
