Dude; this sound-deadening installation-video rocks, because it's the only one I've seen, that, uses BOTH sound deadeners; I can't wait to put mine in! Your positive words are encouraging, and, uplifting, too. Thank you, so much for this; many times over; I mean it! 🤗🥰
I wonder what the decibel reading was before and after each layer was, and then what the cost per decibel would be. I'll be doing my own van, and have been looking for information on this topic. Great video, and kudos on the effort it took to record, edit and upload.
The one thing I noticed with lizard skin ,was besides less ring to the panels ,was the fact that my shop got quieter. As if I laid down a big area rug on the floor, it doesn't have bathroom acoustics as much.
Good content keep it up. Maybe I missed it but did you do the full 2 coats Lizard Skin sound deadening and two coats of the ceramic insulating layer as recommended by Lizard skin or is it just one coat of the sound deadening for the comparison? Cheers maybe see you out there some time.
what was your rational for lizard skin then sound deadener vs sound deadener then lizard skin. i am about to do both followed by the ceramic insulation of lizard skin. thinking maybe deadener first to save me on 'scuffing' time? curious about people's thoughts. also, did you need to buy their specific lizard skin sprayer or will my regular latex sprayer work just as well? thank you in advance.
Absolutely! Just like pSyChojOeDesigns , said. You are the only one to do both and personally I think if you can fork out the time and money to do it this way - this is the way to go! My question now is if you STILL need a "vapor lock" layer of either thick plastic sheeting or Reflectix or is that now overkill?
I feel like people have done away with vapor barriers in most applications because it's better to let things breathe so they can dry. as oxygen kills a lot of those bacteria.
Why do UA-camrs knock on the panels to show how affective it is at sound deadening? That's stupid. You should turn on some music at a particular level and measure it before anything is done, after lizard skin, and then after killmat. These knocking on panels prove zero on how well it sound deadens from outside noise.
Heh,when I sprayed my project with lizard skin, I stepped back and noticed the shop radio sounded different. It was like I put carpet on the shop floor and wasn't listening to the radio in a tiled bathroom.

My OCD hates how he installed the kilmat upside down...
wow what a difference. about to do kilmat now over boom mat ... as soon as I figure out where my husband put the roller..... 🤔

What about Lyzard Skin as a wrapping on the outside of the van?
Good day! Think you can put it on the wheel wells from the outside.
So any before and after db numbers?

Lizard skin first since it will serve as a moisture barrier. Not sure how well the lizard skin will adhere to the shiny mats.
I'd recommend the gun, Ive never seen a bigger spray nozzle.
The diameter is almost the size of a yellow #2 pencil.
Yes,the pencil, not the lead.
