@@22TheJuggernaut so quick explanation since this dude never responded. Arcane will never change the base amount of blood loss a blood loss weapon causes with its passive. So for example if you have a katana and it has a base blood loss of 45 that will never change based on your arcane. However, the arcane stat determines how much blood loss is added when you give a weapon either occult or blood affinities. Those two affinities boost the blood loss passive and your arcane stat determines how much is added when you equip either one. What he means by scaling is when you have scaling, next to the physical attack of the weapon will be a plus sign and a number it is an added damage number based on the stat it scales off of, I believe it picks the highest grade one so if you have STR with C scaling and Dex with B scaling it will scale off of Dex. That is what scaling is, and that number will increase the higher the stat it is scaling off of is. So for example my curved sword is occult and I have 77 Arcane, occult gives it a B for arcane scaling . So because of that it’s passive blood loss goes from 45 to 87 and the additional damage number is 380. Hope this explanation helps.

Faith covers many uses, poise does not effect blocking, that is down to the absorb stat of the shield, poise effects your character being staggered i.e being packed and not flinching from it, there is also a weapon art that gives you super poise.
8:40 for anyone curious, the left one is your total and the right one is just armor. So left is armor + level + stats. As for how it works, it just affects the size of the bar for that status effect. So if you have 200 robustness, it will take 4 hits from a weapon with 50 bleed to proc hemorrhage.
Not to be that guy but there are a few inaccuracies in this video. There are things besides armor that grant increased poise (such as Baldachins blessing at the cost of a small portion of health) and Larval Tear items let you respec your build after you progress far enough through game.
You might be able to properly use a weapon with half the requirement in the stat, if you two-hand it. I know this used to be a thing before, not sure if this is the case in Elden Ring as I've not played the latest souls games.
Poise is not your ability to resist breaking stamina. It's your ability to not get interrupted in the middle of an attack while not guarding at all. High enough poise you can swing a great sword at a dangerous enemy while it's hitting you and land the hit without getting stun locked out of it. What you're referring to is "guard boost" which is a stat that's associated with the shield you're using. If you actually played other souls games, Havel's armor will stand out as an example of high poise. While wearing that, almost nothing could cause you to flinch. You could be getting battered and still move and swing a weapon like nothing was hitting you.

Time for some schooling, my friend. Arcane is insanely, powerfully useful... while using the Blood affinity on various weapons, which causes a bleed effect that scales with Arcane. For example, I use a Blood Uchigatana +25, equipped with the Seppuku Ash of War, in my offhand, and the Rivers of Blood sword as my primary. (I go two-handed with the Uchi to activate Seppuku, then switch back to dual-wielding both swords.) The effect is incredible... It's basically every one to two hits, I get major bleed damage on enemies and bosses - it makes bosses look weak. Then again, I did put 80 points on my Arcane, with 40 on both Strength and Dexterity.
Bro why even make this video if you did not even do proper research right of the bat you got two things wrong xd what else is wrong in this vid i wonder

When you add an "Ash Of War" to your weapon, There is a list that pops up that says: "Heavy, Keen, Magic, Sacred". If there is an option for "Quality", pick that. It upgrades your STR and DEX scaling equally.
Great video. It was really nice to have everything explained all together, especially for someone who has not played souls games! Around 10:42 you talk about attribute scaling and said that A is the best. I had read that that the larger the letter, the better it scales. Lots of Astrologer folks love the Meteorite Staff because it is an "S" for INT scaling. You said the lower the better, so maybe you are right, though. Just thought I would clarify. Thanks in advance.
1) Why should you use your weapon With Two Hands? 2) Does using a Weapon With Two Hands still boost the damage at 99 or is it pointless at 99? 3) Can you still couter strike with blocking using your weapon With Two Hands? 4) Are there diminishing returns in terms of defense on armor? I got this armor set: bull-goat and the numbers on my Armor are higher than my numbers on the stats sheet... Bug?
Two handing weapons does more damage, and I'm fairly certain the bonus from two handing past 99 actually does give bonus damage now, but I could be wrong there. As for counter strikes, you can still do one if you block with a weapon as opposed to a shield.
Faith is used for incantations. Those heals you speak of are incantations. Intelligence has no bearing on memory slots. For scaling S is the best. Not A Fun fact. If you’re gonna 2 hand then you don’t need the strength required as you get 50% more strength when 2 handing. So if you have 10 strength and you 2 hand a weapon you’ll be boosted to 15.
Spells don't scale off of faith and intelligence unless your staff or seal do. my Incantations all scale off of arcane because of my casting weapon is the Dragon Communion Seal+10 which has a S rank for arcane scaling which massively boost the incantation scaling stat on the item.
Lots of things wrong here. Pretty much every weapon scales off strength AND dex to some degree, it depends on the letter grade which is more important. Many stats add to various resistances you didn't touch on. There are many defensive and utility intelligence spells and many offensive faith spells, especially now that they folded in all of the pyromancy spell tree into faith spells in this game. Many weapons actually scale partly, some MAJORLY on int and faith too, and most thrown weapons and projectiles scale off various stats. Arcane isnt just drop chance and it only increases that slightly anyhow. It governs all status effect based items, weapons and skills, ie poison, bleed and sleep, and scales hard even apparently endgame w certain builds like bleed heavy ones, as well quite a decent chunk is needed for many spells. Spell slots have nothing to do with INT, they're gained from these onyx pendant items you can find various places. Poise is a lot more than just blocking, that's shield dependant anyhow; poise affects which attacks can knock you flat on your back, stagger you heavily, lightly, make you flinch or not even move a muscle when hit. It's a whole field of possibilities for basically every attack and is super important for all but the most hardcore glass cannon mages and dodge masters to get as much as they can imo. And lol " I dunno what these do look at ds3 guides" just seriously why even make this vid except for jumping on the GAME JUST CAME OUT MUST MAKE CONTENT FOR VIEWS bandwagon
Probably said elsewhere but Poise is explained incorrect in this video. Poise allows you AND enemies to take hits and not be put into hitstun. For Smash Bros fans, this is your Super Armor. You still take damage but your attacks are not interrupted. This really matters in Elden Ring because you can be comboed to death very easily in this game because you don't get I-Frames from getting hit and you wonder how you seemingly get killed in one hit from full health. This is why. Front-line fighters want high Poise badly while spellcasters don't really care all that much. The other thing worth mentioning is that not all situations are created equal. If you are charging a heavy attack you can take more damage before being stunned out of it while you have less Poise just standing still. It also matters because not all enemise get stunned by your light attacks and require heavy attacks to break their attacks. Hope this helps clear things up.
I think the -10 resist to lightning and +10 resist to fire was because it was raining and your character was wet :) this game never ceases to amaze me.
From my understanding of equip load its the weight of gear you can have equipped to your character and NOT the weight of gear you can carry in your bag, is this correct? If I am correct the closer you are to your current max equip load the more stamina you use up with any actions you use that require stamina?
You likely already know this now, but just so it's said in the comments, you can respec your stats after beating the Liurnia Lakes main story boss/demigod. So feel free to experiment before the midgame when you unlock it. You need a very rare item to respec and as far as I know there's a limited number of them in the world but I'm aware of at least 10 of them in the world.
One thing, you don’t need to worry about your stats being permanent. After you kill renalla the moon Queen you will gain the ability to reset your stats if you have a larval tear.
I'm brand new to the series and my biggest question is determining what stats to upgrade. Some games you dump everything in 2-3 stats and some games are more balanced. I don't hear anyone discussing this so I'm lost.
Arcane would not be a bad stat to use end game. I remember how Item Discovery worked in Dark Souls. You would need to get far into the game to farm for Item Discovery. This would allow you to get items in a more reasonable amount of time. Some items you could only gain from a rare drop from killing a boss. You needed Item Discovery in these cases. In Dark Souls some items were too early in the game to first farm for Item Discovery. This meant that unless you were really lucky you only had a reasonable chance to get that rare drop in New Game+. In Elden Rings u can set up a farming build which would be increasing Arcane first. The worst thing you can do in a souls game is have four stats at 30 or something like that. The introduction of weapons like the 24 intellect/faith sword in Eden Ring or the Zwinhander in Dark Souls are weapons which have really caused many players to build their characters poorly.
you do gain the ability to respec at a point in the game. So if you put some points in something you don't need don't worry about it. The items to respect are rare thought so you cant do it over and over i believe.
There's a few thing in this vide that are incorrect. Faith is not just for healing and arcane is more than that in this game, hence they changed tha name from luck to arcane.

Faith covers many uses, poise does not effect blocking, that is down to the absorb stat of the shield, poise effects your character being staggered i.e being packed and not flinching from it, there is also a weapon art that gives you super poise.
I’m sure someone has said this but leveled can be changed early mid game depending on how far you got
poise in old games was not just block but during your own attacks you could blow through counter attacks with high poise
This man has literally helped me out with every video game I’ve played for the past 6 months. Thanks 🐐❤️
haha no problem. Hopefully it keeps working out that way long term for you and others.
You only have to hold Y or Triangle and RB or R1 to two hand you main weapon, you don't have to press both bumpers.
RB/R1 is for your Right Hand Armament and LB/L1 for your Left Hand Armament...
...i think that´s what he said in the video aswell.
THANK YOU SO MUCH
I was wondering why there were 2 columns and couldn't find this information anywhere
"Strength, this is how much damage your strength scaling weapons.
Faith, this is basically just healing."
SMH, OK NEXT VID THX...
Great guide! I learned a lot. Arcane has an additional use. Similar to intelligence and faith, arcane is also required for certain spells.
Arcane increase bleed buildup too, as well as dragon incantations
This is my first fromsoft game and this helped me tons thanks dude
Theres some major mistakes in this guide.
Thank you for keeping it simple and no gameplay. I prefer this layout than people revealing tons of different enemy types when Im just here for info 😅
Finally someone had some ideas of what these letters are for attributes. Thanks
Not related to content, but delivery. Short, exact and to the point. Thank you my dude. Wish more youtube guides did that. Thumbs up.
Arcane increases buildup, with bleed for sure, but most likely the other ailments if it is a 1 to 1 from the Darksouls "luck" stat.
Defense and Dmg Negation starts at 06:50 :)
@Upside down pankake 2233 Like I said.
@Upside down pankake 2233 Hey, it happens :)
thats only with strength and its not half its 2/3 so if you wanted to use a 30 strength weapon you could 2hand it with only 20 strength
Resistance vs Death: Yes, I'll have some of that please!
Thank you so much. Some of these menus had my head swimming. This is perfect without going into confusing nitty gritty details.
elden ring is my first souls game so this was super helpfiul! it's true, I can just press a key for help in the game but reading gets a bit tedious sometimes, so it's good to have audiovisual aid
I've noticed that faith also seems to be related to fire based magic. I've seen fire based sorcery (I can't remember the name of it at the moment) that requires intelligence, because it's sorcery, but also requires faith. I think that is because it's fire. I'm still trying to learn the lore around it.
7:11 fire is at 10% and lightning is at -10% because in raining or when you stand on water you get wet so you have more damage negation against fire but less against lightning.
Thank you for taking the time to explain this, I could have used this video a few months ago but it will really help my son
Great guide thank you. Does the weight load ( light, medium , heavy etc) only effect your roll / dodge ability, or anything else as well like general run speed, stamina loss etc? Many thanks
Yeah it does heavy load make u slower movement...
@@lindihoxhaj4095 thank you
Anyone tested heavy load with groundslam skill?
Thank you for taking the time to make this!
1st time souls player. So this helped TONS with understanding the letters, scaling, etc.
Cheers 🍻
Really awesome video. Only one thing that you got wrong the memory slots do not go up with your level. You have to find them purchase them or get them from battles etc
i can't even describe how helpful this video was, ive never played a souls game or anything similar so i was so lost lol
Why does it feel like leveling strength gives you the most defensive?
It does I’m 99 strength and endurance, i took on a full blow from a giant while blocking 2 handed and did a back flip tanking the hit.
@@Mrikeepgettinmoneyagain so then strenght is the most op class
Resistance: Left is total, right is what equipped gear is currently adding. Naked character is base stat.
3:40 you can respec your levels later down the line after defeating Rennala
ah okay, I didn't realize they had respec's in this game
Bro why even make this video if you did not even do proper research right of the bat you got two things wrong xd what else is wrong in this vid i wonder
@@dimic1777 ehhh don’t lay into him, from software always hide the respec well. Don’t make my comment negative over informative please
Still would like to know what the numbers next to FP are at 11:51 The 8 (8 - 10). In this case. What does the (8-10) mean. Same for the physical damage. What's the 109 and what's the 43. Both change with each weapon.
The 8-10 means that it could be anywhere from 8 to 10. So in this case it could be 8, 9 or 10.
This is the best Stats video I've seen about stats. Total A++
I love you. I GREATLY appreciate the comprehensive guide. I'm subbed for life lol
1.Endurance also boost your defense/Dmg negation
2. There’s a charm that boost your poise by like 15
I thought strength was boosting defense? And endurance was the resistance to stagger part?
As a veteran of these games, I was looking for when a stat starts to softcap and equipment buffs (both vague descriptions and passive effects)
Video is good tho so it's fine
The numbers that didnt change when you equip unequip armors are the numbers that go up when you level up.
Memory stones increase Memory slots, intelligence is required for spells and staffs, faith is not just for healing its for incantations also stats can be replaced by being reborn so if you want to try other builds and weapons you can without restarting a character.
This should play at the beginning of the game for all new games...thank you so much
Thank you!! Ive been moving through the game (this being my first DS game) and this video is going to help me out so much in tailoring my character and its stats!!!!
Early game tip:
Focus on getting your VIGOR to 20 as soon as possible.
Then when you get past the castle, Get it to 30Vig ASAP.
@@neilkuckman6627 thanks!! Currently at 24 Vigor working my way to 30. Im a Faith build so that's at 30 rn. Currently deciding whether Ito go faith/strength or faith/dex
@@andrewpuleo964 Did you pick Confessor? So did I.
Lol. He just looked too cool to pass up. So I'm running a faith/melee build also.
I still haven't decided exactly which direction I want to go with my character yet. I'm leaning towards heavy armor, Heavy weapon, tower shield and faith spells. I'm calling it: THE CRUSADER
@@andrewpuleo964 If you are having a hard time choosing which weapon to commit to, You can always make, What the community calls, a Quality Build.
A Quality Build puts equal stats into strength and dexterity. Usually STR25 and DEX25. This allows you to use the majority of weapons in the game.
When you add an "Ash Of War" to your weapon, There is a list that pops up that says:
"Heavy, Keen, Magic, Sacred".
I'm just guessing here, but s-tier is usually considered above A. So S-A-B-C-D in that order probably.
@@davidpacker7602 exactly right, it's a thing learnt from eastern rpgs
@@dirtybeatfreak so S being the best level of scaling, then A B C D E right ?
@@brandenrogers9507 yes exactly :)
Memory Slots you get through an item in game, Memory Stone. And there are multiple to find
Thank you! Been really wondering about some of this stuff.
Faith is used for incantations. Those heals you speak of are incantations.
Intelligence has no bearing on memory slots.
For scaling S is the best. Not A
Fun fact. If you’re gonna 2 hand then you don’t need the strength required as you get 50% more strength when 2 handing. So if you have 10 strength and you 2 hand a weapon you’ll be boosted to 15.
for resistance it looks like the left is the added total from your armor, and the right is the armor value of resistance
I believe that one side is elemental resistance, and the other is Physical resistance. I'll have to double-check tho.
Damn bruh you’re getting wrecked in these comments. I haven’t even watched 2 minutes of the video LMAO.
Stats are irreversible? that part is definitely wrong
The 3rd site of grace you discover allows you to level up and get Torrent. It doesn't have to be the one in front of the gate.
thnx man im new to da Souls genre and this got me hooked
Thank you for this. This my first time playing and I needed to know everything before I walk out in the field and get shitted on
I was about to put a comment down but it seems like all the other comments nailed it. This video needs to be updated.
Quick and straight to the point. Nice video
Thanks this actually helped me. Appreciate you
Thank you for this, my friend!! I am new to this type of RPG & this is very helpful!!!!
Very straightforward. Great video
This video helped me alot. Thank you!!
poise is hyper armour. not blocking ability. it's how much you can take before you are interrupted
Yeah u kinda lost me at the beginning, it’s like u should def do more research
Right? How are you gonna make an "ultimate stats guide" without bothering to look up the things you aren't familiar with?
Thanks bro. Very informative. Any videos on upgrading weapons with smithing stones ?
I think the -10 resist to lightning and +10 resist to fire was because it was raining and your character was wet :) this game never ceases to amaze me.
Haha that's awesome
You can respec so that wasn’t quite right - dragon/incantations are all faith so wayyyy more than just heals pretty much all elemental damages
This is just what I needed. Thanks!
One thing, you don’t need to worry about your stats being permanent. After you kill renalla the moon Queen you will gain the ability to reset your stats if you have a larval tear.
Also S tier scaling for weapons is the highest.
"Faith is for healing"
Me a cleric breathing dragonfire: "Rawr"
int doesn't up your memory slots you need certain necklaces for that
Pretty good video, although there were quite a few moments where you gloss over things.
You can reset your level, you have to buy the larval item in the underground moon city merchant.
how are you gonna say faith is just for healing? what about incantation strength? or the fact that several weapons in the game scale off it ?
also you can reskill after beating the second boss with her great rune and a larval tear. it’s pretty easy to change your stats.
also there is an endless reborn consumable(that lets you reorganise skill points however) later in the game
I never knew abt the falloff , i went 99 vigor once and realized hold on i don’t need 99….. And use a larval tear to rebirth
I'm brand new to the series and my biggest question is determining what stats to upgrade. Some games you dump everything in 2-3 stats and some games are more balanced. I don't hear anyone discussing this so I'm lost.
It all depends on how you want to play. There's so many different kinds of play styles you can really craft whatever fighter you want.
“I’m not sure what you were looking for cause you probably already know everything” title of the video: “AND VETERANS”
Great video it was exactly what I was looking for
Perfect video. I ask UA-cam a question and all I want is an answer. Thank you 🙏
So informative. Can't wait to get off work now, you're awesome 👏
There's a few thing in this vide that are incorrect. Faith is not just for healing and arcane is more than that in this game, hence they changed tha name from luck to arcane.
I assume damage negation subtracts the stat from the damage before it is dealt, but you didn't explain what defense does
Great guide man! Thanks! subbed
u can respec all your points as much as u want as long u have larval tears that u can find and collect.
Why is it that when I change my stats and then I try to go back to my old numbers they won't level up the same?
This was a great guide!
1 thing, you don't have to make a new character. There is an NPC that let's you respec Stats
