Each time I watch this it reminds me of the legacy of good people lives for ever. Today Abacha is gone, Ken is gone, but Ken is remembered for good deeds, Abacha for wickedness and evil.

I wonder if we can still have this kind of selfless leader in our world today. I heard about Ken since early 90's, but sincerely untill his death I never knew how powerful he was. I'm proud to be an Ogoni. The struggles of Ken has only embolded me. U can kill a messenger but u can't kill the message. For me, living life means nothing if that life cannot be sacrificed for an idea that one holds so dearly. I love my people and I'm happy Ken has given me a voice.... One day, justice will reign in our land!

The youth must NOT let his message die. We are not free until we are free! People are still suffering today from the unjust poison of Ogoni land by Shell.

ÞSo wait a Chinese media firm is posting documentaries about African freedom fighters while China is persecuting it's own people who dare demand freedom from evil communism, while at the same time enslaving Africa via bad debts and neo colonialism? What kind of irony is this?
These documentaries are meant to hoodwink Africans that China is one of us...but be not fooled sons and daughters of the soil...it is a facade....China ain't our friend...the dragon is the devil.

The unjust killing of Saro-wiwa still represents a scar on the conscience of the nation called Nigeria.
What saro-wiwa stands for remains at the core of the problems of the Nigerian state. It remains an unresolved and unaddressed direct indictment against Nigeria. Nigeria can therefore not find rest until there is justice for Saro-Wiwa.

This just shook a sad and powerful reminder of how the colonial powers would use agents of one African ethnicity against another to achieve their goal of manipulation as during the slave trades. Seeing this for the first time, and seeing the struggles for Ken Saro-Wiwa's struggle for his people, the Ogoni people just showed the magnitude of a man he was to stand up for the rights of his people and in essence an example to others facing such dire straits to do the same in respect to their own concerns.

He put Ogoniland "on the map," the man says...Why ? because he was such a superlative writer, that is the sentence after sentence. perfect. (His daughter Noo is damn good too). I found his book I think in the British Council library in Dar es Salaam, in 2000, is where I discovered Ken Saro-Wiwa. from the USA. thank you.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I think that he, like many of the elites of the present South South geopolitical region whose areas had belonged to the pre-civil war Eastern Nigerian region were victims of the choices they had made with regards to which side of the conflict they aligned themselves with. I doubt whether anyone in the old Eastern Nigerian region would have ever thought of subjecting his longtime neighbors to the level of degradation that has continued to be seen in that area that could be considered as the geese that lays the golden eggs in the economy. I recently came across something said to have been stated by one of the leaders of the Niger Delta region to the effect that they were being misled by some of their older leaders into believing that their real enemies were in the Southeast, but when they went to the National Assembly to push for the increase of their federal allocation for derivation, they were surprised to find out that the South eastern delegation not only supported them with a block vote, but equally joined them when they decided to stage a walkout on account of the opposition mounted by the very same supposedly friendly people they had been told to approach to help them. There’s an adage that states that, it’s not until a man or woman tastes two different marriages that he or she discovers which one of them is more beneficial than the other. The tragedy is that as at now, the people of that area are still being misled into seeing enemies where none exists.

Indeed a true son of Africa and great Nigerian patriot.May his legacy inspire more NIgerians to fight for freedom of speech and equity.Fondly remembered and idolized in India through Ken Sarowiwa Hall near ISBT in New Delhi in 1993.The Hall hosted an international seminar on language and nationalism which i was privileged to attend alongside famous Kenyan writer Ngungi wa Thiong'o with whom we shared lunch reminscing on "Decolonising the mind".That was the period when gatherings of more than three people could earn you the brand of a traitor and a prison term.Peace and blessings to the Ogonis and others who find themselves in such injust social and economic situations.

As an African American His story makes us proud yet very frustrated. The world owes Africa billions of dollars and until Africa becomes one continent and mobilizes its power it will never be compensated properly or gain any power. This wouldn’t keep happening if the people and countries were unified. The resources the money the brain power the hearts of the people to see past the bullshit and help each other take control and build a better world for everyone!!

Ken Saro-Wiwa saved his people. Very few stands up to the might of their government and that of West companies. It's frustrating and disheartening to see people living in such dangerous conditions and looking at their rivers contaminated to the core by oil. coming from those served pipes. The Nigerian government neglected the Ogoni people for years earning money from Shell oil companies at their expense. It's a pity Ken had to pay with his life to later get attention. At least Ogoni people are now recognised in their own Motherland Nigeria. Thanks to him and those who embraced and supported the struggles.😢😢 Long live Ken Saro-Wiwa!❤

There is nothing unusual or strange about Kens death. Reading the scriptures, the prophets and several of God's messengers including JESUS were killed and so do we also have in our contemporaneous society. But one thing unique in all these killings associated with truth telling is that the MESSAGE REMAINED UNKILLED while the messengers have been killed at onetime or the other

Abacha didn't contribute anything to Nigeria, yet he had the audacity to murder those who were industrious. Wiwa was a playwright, activist, author, business tycoon, etc. Abacha was a soldier of no immense value to the republic.

The money he stole alone can not still be recovered till date. He killed innocent men, no wonder he died a terrible death. Did such a wicked man make heaven? Only God"s mercy and decision is the final. My heart weep when souls go to hell. Abacha's death and his whereabout today is a wake up call for rulers. The Lord Jesus Christ does not want any one in hell, and offers time for us all to be prepared, by virtue of our life-time. The bible says except you repent, you shall like wise perish. Only God knows when he will call our number. It does not matter when, what matter is for us to be ready daily and always. It is appointed for men to die once after that is judgement Hebrew 9:27.

Shell paid Ogoniland $15 million? That's peanuts compared to what they've extracted & the environmental degradation they caused. That's not justice, it's cruel & unusual punishment. They wouldn't dare do such in the western world. BP paid billions & continue to pay to this day for the oil spill in the Gulf Coast in the U.S.

I hope that you will now count out the Ibos amoung the 3 major groups that are causing the trouble in the area. They are also victims of the marginalization and so want to liberate themselves. IPOB is alive now to correct the wrong of many years. How I wish the Ogonis will join the struggle for liberation. No one should sit on defence in this struggle for together we will win.

The story of Ken Sarowiwa is really an emotional one. Then it was Abacha, and now we have Buhari all with same agenda that Fulanis must domination and own our resources and annihilation of any one who opposes that. Sarowiwa was unjustly killed through judicial process and Nnamdi Kanu was to be unjustly killed through unjust military python dance. All by the same people. Why can't all come together and fight this battle of liberation to a just end. It is not late. Let us all support IPOB movement as Nnamdi has guaranteed the autonomy of all groups.
It is really painful to see how we have been loosing our brave people like Sarowiwa and the young youths in the python dance. May they RIP and continue to interceed for the success of the liberation struggle.

I can't believe Igbos are mentioned as one of those marginalizing Ogoni people!!!!
Igbos that escaped extinction by genocide via pogroms and civil war?
When was the last time we shared a state with Ogoni people?
When was the last time,Igbos ran affairs in Nigeria?
From the oil boom of 1970s till now, what has Igbos got to do with this? Really?
