Vinh Trang is the largest pagoda in Tien Giang

Chua Vinh Trang is the largest pagoda in Tien Giang. Built during the Nguyen Dynasty, from the beginning of the 19th century. In 1894, it was named Vinh Trang or Vinh Truong. The name is taken from the meaning of two verses: "Vĩnh cửu đối sơn hà, trường tồn tề thiên địa". (It means rivers - mountains countries are protected and exist forever by heaven and earth)
The pagoda combines Asian and European architecture. There is a large statue of Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva on the right side facing the main gate. There are 3 large Buddha statues:
Standing out in the middle of the flower garden is the 24m high statue of Amitabha Buddha. The standing Buddha statue, white in color, means: He looks after all living beings in all realms. Next is the statue of Maitreya Buddha, He is a symbol of peace, happiness, and bliss. Behind pagoda, next to the 8-storey stupa, is the statue of Gautama Buddha to Nirvana. It means keeping the mind pure.
The pagoda also has a set of 18 statues of La Han. The pagoda includes: the front hall, the main hall, the ancestral house, and the back house. Because the pagoda was built from Nguyen Dynasty. It has a meaning for the country, eternal existence, so inside there are many carved details. The space inside the pagoda is where many fine art works of generations of artisans are gathered. All represent the pinnacle of art in the Mekong Delta region. If you are Buddhists or tourists, come visit to feel more deeply.
About 70km from Ho Chi Minh center. Nearby you can go to Thoi Son Islet to listen to Don Ca Tai Tu (A traditional music in southern Vietnam). And take a boat to visit the fruit garden only about 10km. You can visit the traditional coconut candy kilns of Ben Tre. The distance is about 10km to 16km.
