I love ZZZ and I spend money on it just to support an IP that makes me feel good. The Character designs, artstyle/aesthetic choices as well as the music grips my heart and ticks all my boxes. That's why I don't mind spending money on this game.
Congratulations on producing the first ever non-sponsored ZZZ review. This game has carried me through the worst months of my life recently. It's right at that perfect level of effort investment where you can tryhard if you like (especially once unlocking the hades-like heat levels in the roguelike mode), but you don't have to if you just want to relax and beat up on some dudes.
Cant believe i can relate to someone on such a specific circumstance lol Keep going, it'll get better (and im also going through tough stuff rn). We have to keep going, not only for miyabi release, but for the future character realeae and content lol ❤
I started playing it yesterday and still did not spent any polychromes. Will just wait for the characters I want to have and in the mean time I will collect for 90 pulls.
I've played since launch, the game is really good. The gacha stuff is.. well, gacha stuff, you have to know what you're signing up for, but it's placed in a framework that feels less onerous than some other titles in the genre, and the absolutely stellar gameplay makes it easier to put up with. I would never recommend dumping money into a game like this, but the 5-dollar a month interknot membership and the 10-dollar a month battle pass (for a total of 15 dollars a month) combine to a pretty good value if you're sticking with the game for any length of time. They ensure you have enough pulls to guarantee at least every other S-rank (5-star) limited character. The game also provides many avenue to earn pulls through playing if you're willing to put the time in. It can be pretty grindy, so it depends on how much you're willing to play.
I also want to note with regards to the difficulty- the main story quests and basic material grinding segments are all very easy. The higher level 'end-game' stuff is /very/ difficult, and having upgraded characters, good team composition, and a good knowledge of the character's abilities and how they synergize in terms of play pattern is absolutely essentially to win- I'm talking things like Shiyu Defense, Inferno Reap, the newly added Battle Tower (higher levels of it, anyway), high-level Notorious Hunt, etc. The good thing is those things are optional, so if you don't want to worry about those aspects you don't have to, although the rewards from beating them are pretty substantial.
Why do people think like playing hoyo games as a f2p is like this mythical thing? It's really common yknow to be a f2p and still have fun playing the game
This certainly has a unique artstyle and personality, although I much prefer the fantasy vibe and colouring in Genshin. I haven't bothered with ZZZ or Star Rail - I don't have the time to even bother with more games
I love this game, the gameplay loop felt close to Monster Hunter to me, which I also love (not talking about the combat style). EDIT: BTW, I mostly play on PS5 and I don't have stutter or noise either.
Beside Genshin this might be a game that i can recomend to my friend and people to play without spend money. been play thill today without spending money and the end game really do able for me. yes i might lucy to able get Ellen, Qingyi, Zhu Yuan and Cesar. with most used Support i have on M6, this make me didnt really find hard time to beat Shiyu Deffense. at least for start ZZZ have better experience than HSR.
F2P so far and I managed to pull Ellen on a 50/50 and have saved my polychromes since. Planning to do 180 pulls on Miyabi since I’ve been saving for so long and if I win the 50/50 pull for her W engine.
People always think you need to pay money but you can if you build Billy well clear all Content with the free Cunning Hares start team and if you have Skill you can even clear the reeeal hard content like higher endless Tower stages which just released. Idk this guy didn't play any endgame content for sure but some people just use it as an excuse that you need to drop money which is just not true.
I enjoy the Cunning Hares and already got Grace early on so I won't sweat it if I miss out on newer characters. Starting out, the $0.99 bundle with 1 free W-Engine feels like the most worth it.
ZZZ is my favorite game in years, the combat scratches an itch left empty by Nier, DMC and Bayonetta, and the setting and characters are vibrant, fun and memorable. While it shares a publisher with Genshin and Honkai, it was actually developed by a brand new studio, and it's the first game made by the main devs. You can feel the love and passion the devs put into every aspect of the game, which feels fresh in the era of very corporate AAA game releases. A definite recommend for people who like action games, anime, and very stylish sakuga and animations. EDIT: And oh yeah, I really appreciate that all the A-Rank and free characters are viable and have as much care put into them and personality as the limited S-Rank characters. Piper (A-Rank) and Billy (free A-Rank) can clear some of the hardest content in the game, and many of the other A-Rank characters also rate highly in the community meta lists.
The end game content is pretty much guaranteed that you can clear easily once you level up characters to 60 + max their skills +disk drive fully. The gacha stuff feels like it's optional and personal preference on the limited character. You can actually find a no-pull account clearing S rank shiyu on youtube btw.
I've been playing this off and on (mostly on) since launch, currently I've spent a tiny amount (less then the average AAA game) but that's more about wanting a couple of characters I never felt that I 'needed' them to progress. The grind to do well in Shiyu Defense is frustrating but for the most part that's optional. The daily missions can be quickly completed which is great to see as that's one thing that annoyed me about Genshin Impact; and the flow of the premium currency doesn't seem too unfair. The stories pacing seems good at this stage and doesn't feel like it drags it's feet in order to keep you playing, something that I started seeing in Genshin Impact among other Free To Play games I've played. At it's core ZZZ has a lot to offer to players and honestly has a lot more passion, charm and creativity then most AAA in recent years games while maintaining to be fair-ish with microtransactions and chances of getting A and S rank gear and units, though that's hard to say 100% as it's luck based and that the game is still in the early stages.
I think these games are more fun if you avoid the gacha all together. The story and setting are very interesting and entertaining and they keep updating with new story content every few weeks so it’s easy to pick up and play for a bit then move on until the next update. The gacha and fomo is what really stresses people out, but most of the game stands on its own without it and you don’t need limited characters for the main content.
I have been thinking about getting into this game after the Burning Desires video and after I finish the GODDAMN FINAL SIT-UP CHALLENGE on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Played since launch and I haven't spend a cent on it and I am only missing 4 of the basic roster and 2 newer characters. It's really fun and you can pull at least once a day for free
Love the review! Definitely earned a sub ❤ (Just a side note, but i think you should've mentioned more of the variety and different game options available in zzz. Great work non- the less!)
Hey, nice video. I really think this game is really fun, maybe because I have been really lucky and won 3 50/50s, and then when I lost my first i still had enough polys to get Yanagi. Also some friendly critique: when you talk about Bangboos you don't show them and don't really describe them much. While basically every ZZZ player will know them, people who don't may be confused. Maybe just show a picture of a Bangboo when talking about them
My rule of thumb is spend what I would spend on any premium game $60-$100. Spending NO money means you should expect what u would get from a free game with no purchases with are pretty much crap games. Not that 60-100 gets u everything but would increase fun forsure. If it keeps my attention past 60hrs they deserve a payment lol 😂
Well I had this game and really waiting for the next update on the story. Still this game is amazing and I really love it. The music is awesome and the gameplay is my favorite when it fast and fun to play. All the characters are amazing. I did spend money to support the game but only if I need it. Once I get the character I want like Burnice that all I spend until some good happens. In some cases I do play it free when doing the daily you get a lot of stuff. Still it is amazing to play. The only two Gacha games I play is ZZZ and Goddess of Victory NIKKE that I would support all the way. Both game are fan service mobile games
I have around 90% of the agents i want to have, 1 at full unlock, 2 with 4/6, 2 with 3/6 and a few with 2/6 and all of that was free to play. I truly think this game is generous with the story modes reward system.
IK53 player here. Game does get boring after you finish the story. You really need to take it slow after that if you don't play for characters and w-engines.
I like the characters and gameplay but the story hasn't felt as good as genshin or some of HSR for me. these games tend to be rough as a pure F2P at the start. you want to build 2-3 teams for the end game in this case shiyuu or battle tower. eventually you get to a point where you can just coast and get a new premium character every other month or so. keeping up with resources at that pace is pretty easy.
The next update is kind of like a soft reboot for the game......they are fixing many of the eary gripes people have. Like the tutorial portion of the game...
Not really. Characters are the main content, so if you play f2p, you literally playing half the game. That being said, do NOT spend money on premium currency. The monthly sub for 5$ is more, than enough with a bit of luck and planning to own most, if not all characters (depending how fast hoyo will release them) and you do not need limited weapons to beat all endgame.
Playing gacha games is like watching tik tok, but playing "real" games feels like you watch a video you are interested in, which respects your time (examples: Diaphone, Optimum, maybe YSN:) )
honestly its like a mix of stellar blade and dragon ball fighterZ. for the most part you can button mash if you want. but there is a depth to some characters combat and teambuilding and strategy is rewarded if you care to learn it. the late game non story mode stuff can be very difficult or impossible if you don't learn this stuff.
I would say neither, its combat lacks complexity of Stellar Blade and build crafting of FFVIIR. Its its own thing, combat is simplistic but for me it's a good thing. It's easy to get in to but there is enough depth to keep things interesting. And the devs are continuing to add more challenging enemies and content to the game so its evolving in a more complex direction. They are also adding characters that are a bit more complex to play. All in all I really love the game. All three of them in fact. I really recommend ZZZ, I never played a gacha game before but this one is really top notch for me. Its a light hearted fun game.
So far there's only ever been one gatcha game worth playing and you never had to pay a single penny for it... And what did Square Enix do? Went and shut it down - ruining six years of enjoyment and achievement. That game was Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia.
I've had f2p alts in Genshin, Star Rail and ZZZ. I'd say ZZZ is the hardest one for f2p players. I'm constantly out of currency and mats. Upgrading a character takes forever and that's not even counting farming for drive disks yet.
I love ZZZ and I spend money on it just to support an IP that makes me feel good. The Character designs, artstyle/aesthetic choices as well as the music grips my heart and ticks all my boxes. That's why I don't mind spending money on this game.
Agreed I've played almost everyday since launch gotten every character I've wanted and the only thing I've bought are the 10$ battlepasses
@@jxavier0423 I missed out on Burnice and i'm so sick about it...she's perfect~
I only spent momey for the limited characters that could benefit me to easily get free polychromes in Shiyu defense

OMG SAME-
Absolutely, Ive been f2p since the beginning of the game, had horrible luck and I'm still able to clear all end game content
I started playing it yesterday and still did not spent any polychromes. Will just wait for the characters I want to have and in the mean time I will collect for 90 pulls.
