That trumpet soloist is insane on another level... everything about that sound is incredible........ I love the individuality, the overall sound, the creation of a different personalized tone to their show with a sort of lonely, desperate tone to match the whole one small capsule in the vast emptiness of space. I can’t even comprehend how one even creates a tone that good. Even though I play trumpet at a somewhat similar level, and I have seen their show in person, I’m still stunned that a high schooler can be this good...
Kiwi1221 Well 2016, CINDERS was definitely BOA, and that’s why it won the 2016 BOA Long Beach Regional, and went to Grand National Semifinals (although less than 0.3 away from finals lol). It was a well-deserved excellence, and a world-class show for BOA. For 2017, they were supposed to go to Fresno, but according to several students from Vista Murrieta, the funding was short. In fact, several bands from SoCal like San Marcos HS or Chino Hills HS couldn’t go because they too were short of their funds. In 2018, Vista Murrieta was ready to go for WBA Championships in Bakersfield, but what happened? WILDFIRES from the Camp Fire in the Butte County, and that forced a big cancellation the entire weekend. I’ll say this that SoCal bands got all of their performances completed, except Champs, but they got a stellar ending at Rowland HS. For NorCal bands, they lost the second half of their performances, and that was a biggy. They lost their Union City tournament, senior night, and WBA Championships; which their funds that they spent was a big one, and couldn’t get it back. PG&E got sued making their heads spin. Now in 2019, Vista Murrieta was at BOA San Antonio Super Regionals. Maybe they could go to Fresno after TX? Idk. Historically, Vista Murrieta has only attended WBA Championships for three appearances (2010, 2014, & 2015). It probably has been kinda rough that they haven’t done much for WBA Championships.
Eliot Park I didn’t even know that Vista Murrieta was THIS good; I mean, we’re talking national-level good. The guard, drill, staging, music, they’ve got it ALL. Considering that Logan varies from year to year, and they CAN be exceptional, and at times wobbly. Anyway, thanks for the info.
All I’ve heard about Vista Murrieta this year is that they are HUGE. My friends from MV have told me that they’re a 6A band. I’m going to see they’re show tomorrow live at Showcase. I know that all of the bands will be amazing, because even though I’m going to Murrieta Valley, all of the bands in our district are amazing.
